If I deactivate my phone will I be kicked off of Messages on my Mac too?

My phone was recently lost and two days ago someone texted my brother saying they found it. They said they were going to mail it but have yet to do so.. I've been texting through Messages on my Mac through that number. If I deactivate that phone will I no longer be able to use Messages?

Hi xcapturedx,
If you deactivate your iPhone, you can continue to use the Messages app on your Mac.  You just need to add an email address to the settings for Messages on your Mac.  The resource below will explain how.   I'm also including information about what to do if you lose your iPhone, just in case it does not get returned to you.
iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage - Apple Support
https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201349
On OS X, find out which addresses are enabled:
In Messages, choose Messages > Preferences > Accounts. Select iMessage in the left column. Your contact preferences should appear under "You can be reached for messages at:."
Unlink a phone number
To remove a phone number from an Apple ID, sign out of FaceTime and Messages on your iPhone:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
This should remove your phone number from other devices using the same Apple ID with FaceTime and Messages. If the phone number is still available on other devices after you sign out of FaceTime and iMessage on the iPhone, you may need to sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on all your devices, then sign in to FaceTime and Messages again on devices you want to use.
Note: If you no longer have access to the iPhone that is using the number you want to remove, reset your Apple ID password.
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is lost or stolen - Apple Support

Hope that helps ...
