If I delete an attachment in a group chat on iMessage on iOS 8, does it delete it from everyone?

and if not, does anyone know how to do it? Or am I just going to have to get everyone to delete the group chat and start a new one?

No, there is no way to permanently exit the group conversation short of having everyone in that conversation either delete it or stop responding to that message.

    Why? Is the number incorrect? It gets your phone number from the SIM.

  • My iPhone 6  is deleting contacts after sending them a message on iMessage, using iOS 8.1.2

    Hi All,
    My iPhone 6+ is deleting contacts after sending them a message on iMessage, using iOS 8.1.2.
    Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone have a fix?
    It was not doing this until today.

    Hi Virkit,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!  It sounds like you have already tried some of the troubleshooting steps below.  If your Touch ID is not able to enroll any of your fingers, it may need to be serviced.
    Use Touch ID on iPhone and iPad - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-is/HT5883
    Get help with Touch ID
    Make sure that you're using the latest version of iOS.
    Make sure that your fingers and the Home button are clean and dry.*
    Cover the Home button completely. Don't tap too quickly, don't press down hard, and don't move your finger while Touch ID is scanning. Make sure that your finger touches the metal ring around the Home button.
    If you're using a case or screen protector, make sure it doesn't cover the Home button or the surrounding ring. If it does, remove the case or screen protector and try again.
    Tap Settings > Touch ID & Passcode and make sure that iPhone Unlock or iTunes & App Store is on. Also make sure that you've enrolled one or more fingerprints.
    Try enrolling a different finger.
    If you can't enroll any of your fingers, take your device to an Apple Retail Store, Apple Authorized Service Provider, or contact AppleCare for help.
    * Moisture, lotions, sweat, oils, cuts, or dry skin might affect fingerprint recognition. Certain activities can also temporarily affect fingerprint recognition, including exercising, showering, swimming, cooking, or other conditions or changes that affect your fingerprint.

  • Is there a way to leave a group chat on Imessage?

    Don't get me wrong the group chat was a wonderful addition/feature to the Imessage app. After a while of being in the chat and the messages send back and forth no longer pertain you and you get 100+ messages and every second your phone is vibrating or your ipod music or live TV app is dimming and you cannot barely enjoy the basic functions of the ipod. That's when it comes to a point it needs to end. IS THERE A WAY TO GET OUT OF A GROUP CHAT? No offense to anyone to whom this may relate to but it feels like a gang that the only way out is to be killed. If there's no way out I think everyone with this same issue or agrees with me should post below and make a petition and complain to apple to update this because it is really annoying.

    Hi,
    It should be that in the list on the left of your Messages window that the conversation is question will show an  x when you mouse over it.
    Use this to end the Conversation.
    Alternatively use the File Menu > Delete or Close Conversations options.

  • IMessage Group Chat

    Dear Apple support team.
    I am a huge fan of all your products and your work. I personally own 2 iPod touches, and iPad 3 and iPhone 5, a Mac Pro, me and my family use airport routers in our house, and our main server with all our backup consists of several hard drives and 2 Mac minis put together. My Point is I am a huge apple fan boy, I got that from my dad, who has supported and purchase about each and every apple product there ever was, (including the first Mac ever). I recently received an iPhone 5
    (For Christmas), and I love it! I am in high school which is a crazy place and crazy places are usually populated by crazy people. Needless to say I have mature friends, and I have friends that, well, make me face palm myself half the time they finish a sentence. Now one of the ladder has created a group chat with me, and 2 more friends, and about 15 other people that spend their recreational time spamming pictures ranging from horror movies to Pokemon. And to be honest at first I enjoyed it but after a few days, waking up with a little red oval next to your iMessage app that displays the number 3654 is not a pleasant surprise. So I searched the web for a way to delete myself from a group chat in iMessage, and found some very helpful pages on how not to do this, but I never found a way that permanently removed me from the chat. So I became impatient and almost destroyed my phone doing another instructional technique I found online... Wouldn't trust all of them. So I came to realize that the only people who can help are the staff at apple. I called and asked to speak with the CEO. He never called back, don't know what that's all about :). So I decided to write this message. There's a Novel for yah. And here I am kindly asking you, could you please free me from the horror of being forced to experience this group chat. I don't want to turn iMessages off, but I don't want to continue talking to these people. I really hope that there will soon be a feature that let's you exit a chat like this. I usually don't like to bother people that do such great work, but this, in my eyes, is a serious serious con, even though it's a lonely one. I hope for a response and pray for the issue to be resolved with the next major iOS.
    Patrick

  • How can I delete an attachment from a received email but save the message?

    Hi all, how can I delete an attachment from a received email but save the message?*

    Over the years this issue crops up again and again. Here are the cases I know about:
    Case 1 - it simply doesn't work
    I have a message in my inbox with a jpeg of about 300Mb. Select message, choose option "remove attachment" which is not greyed out, and it does not work.
    Case 2 - it works if you save the message first
    I move the message from the inbox to a mail box. Open the mailbox (select), select the message, choose option "remove attachment", result: the attachment is removed, a small text file is added and an error appears in the message "missing plug-in". The message size is reduced from 300Mb to a few bytes.
    Case 3 - the option "remove attachment" is greyed out.
    I've googled this at least 10 times and read all the advice about editing various files from the library and all the other hacks. The simple truth here is that the user should not be inconvenienced by such inappropriate behaviour. We're not used to this from Apple any more, not since OS X. Even Windows does this stuff painlessly. In fact this kind of function is something that Outlook and Exchange do incredibly well. If they didn't the corporate world would have ground to a halt.
    My point: the remove attachment option should work all the time and should be redesigned. Right-click + save as + delete in the message would be a hundred times easier.

  • My mail has frozen with basketball appearing. I think this is due to my attempt to send a home movie as an attachment. I need to delete the attachment but I get message that it cannot be deleted 'at this time'. The wheel has been revolving for two days.

    I can work around by restarting my Mac but must not touch my mail where the message sits as a draft. I am unable to send mail.
    Please how may I get rid of theemail and attachment?
    Thanks

  • Delete specific attachment file through Conversion Channel ?

    version : iMS5.2 sp1
    O/S : Solaris 2.6 Generic_105181-29
    I wanted to delete specific attachment file(ex: ALTDESK.ZIP) through Conversion Channel.
    So I set up like below..
    1) In mappings file
    =================
    CONVERSIONS
    IN-CHAN=tcp_intranet;OUT-CHAN=tcp_local;CONVERT Yes
    ==============
    I only want to delete attached file from tcp_intranet to tcp_local.
    2) msg-INSTANCE/imta/config/conversions
    example mail header ::
    --- omit ----
    MIME-version: 1.0
    X-Mailer: iPlanet Messenger Express 5.2 Patch 1 (built Aug 19 2002)

    Content-Type: application/x-zip-compressed
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
    Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=ALTDESK.ZIP
    - conversions file setting
    ==================================================
    in-channel=tcp_intranet; out-channel=tcp_local;
    in-type=application; in-subtype=x-zip-compressed;
    parameter-symbol-0=ALTDESK.ZIP; parameter-copy-0=*;
    dparameter-symbol-0=ALTDESK.ZIP; dparameter-copy-0=*;
    message-header-file=2; original-header-file=1;
    override-header-file=1; override-option-file=1;
    command="/product/leeky/convert.sh"
    ============================================
    3) /product/leeky/convert.sh file
    ========================
    #!/bin/sh
    if [ $? -eq 1 ]; then
    echo "STATUS=178030178" >> $OUTPUT_OPTIONS
    else
    cp $INPUT_FILE $OUTPUT_FILE
    fi
    =========================
    4) The problems I face are
    - All of zip files which are filtered is deleted. As you can see 2) I only want to delete ALTDESK.ZIP file
    But, all of the zip-compressed files are deleted at the moment.
    - This converison channel is work(even if all zip-compressed files are deleted). But sometimes this is not
    working(2 or 3 times out of 10). I don not know why.
    - Above all, I am not sure 2) and 3) settings are good. English is a second language to me. So it was
    not easy to understand conversion channel setting in Admin Guide.
    - How can I see the out put of "$OUTPUT_OPTIONS" ? I do not know where I can see that.
    Is there anybody to help me ?

    The section of the admin guide which can help is:
    http://docs.sun.com/source/816-6009-10/channel2.htm#42283
    Here there is an explanation of how the mime headers of the message part would align with the entries one would put into the conversions file entry. (The document has an error where it talks about APPARENT_NAME and APPARENT_FILENAME. It should really say the words "NAME" and "FILENAME" respectively).
    Based on that document, the MIME headers of your message part :
    Content-Type: application/x-zip-compressed
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
    Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=ALTDESK.ZIP
    will align with a conversions file settiong of:
    in-channel=tcp_intranet; out-channel=tcp_local;
    in-type=application; in-subtype=x-zip-compressed;
    parameter-symbol-0=NAME; parameter-copy-0=*;
    dparameter-symbol-0=FILENAME; dparameter-copy-0=*;
    message-header-file=2; original-header-file=1;
    override-header-file=1; override-option-file=1;
    command="/product/leeky/convert.sh"
    and a /product/leeky/convert.sh script which reads something like:
    #!/bin/sh
    grep "$FILENAME" /product/leek/badfiles.list
    if [ $? -eq 1 ]; then
    echo "STATUS=178030178" >> $OUTPUT_OPTIONS
    else
    grep "$NAME" /product/leek/badfiles.list
    if [ $? -eq 1 ]; then
    echo "STATUS=178030178" >> $OUTPUT_OPTIONS
    else
    cp $INPUT_FILE $OUTPUT_FILE
    fi
    fi
    The lines:
    parameter-symbol-0=NAME; parameter-copy-0=*;
    dparameter-symbol-0=FILENAME; dparameter-copy-0=*;
    tells the conversion channel to make the environment variable $NAME avaliable to your program with a value corresponding to the "name=" clause on the Content-Type line of the MIME headers. The environment variable $FILENAME is made avalable to your program and takes on the value extracted from the filename=" clause on the content-disposition line of the MIME headers.
    The document at :
    http://docs.sun.com/source/816-6092-10/conversion.html
    may help provide other examples.

  • Can we attach whole function group at a time to a transport request?

    Hi, thank you for viewing this query.
    can we attach whole function group at a time to a transport request?
    please adivce.. as soon as possible.

    If the function group has not been transported yet to other systems (and it's not a local object), there should be a transport already with a FUGR entry.
    If not, you can manually create a transportable workbench request via SE01 and add entry R3TR FUGR <name of function group>. This will transport all the dependent subobjects that you mentioned.

  • How do i delete email attachements on first gen iphone

    Hello
    Can someone here tell me how i can delete an attachement within an email message yet still keep the email?
    I am using the apple email program connected to an exchange server.
    I am also using an old first generation apple iphone with its final OS 3.1.3  ( i cannot put OS 4 on it)
    All the answers i find to this question in google pertain to OS4 and the newer iphones.
    Most the answers i have seen say that there is some "remove attachement", or "remove all attachments" button, which i dont see anywhere in my phone.
    All my email message menu has is a refresh icon, mail folders icon, delete icon, reply icon, and create new message icon.
    None of these icons have any remove attachment capabilities.
    Thanks for any help you can give.

    I'm surprised nobody has answered this yet.

  • Site administration link "people and groups" link breaks if you delete the excel services viewers group

    Creating a HNSC using powershell, the default groups are not created.  Used the UI method of creating the default groups.
    However, if I delete the "excel services viewers" group, the site administration link "people and groups" breaks.  I have attempted to "set the default group" again, after creating the "site default groups" as
    mentioned above, but still no luck.
    Anyone seen this?  Should it be reported as a bug?
    Joshua Fuente

    Hi Joshua,
    For troubleshooting your issue, you can create the default groups using the following PowerShell script and see the result:
    Add-PSSnapin Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell
    $currentUser = "$env:USERDOMAIN\$env:USERNAME"
    $siteCollectionUrl = "http://manasbhardwaj.net"
    $siteCollectionName = "Manas Dev Site"
    $webApplicationUrl = "http://manas"
    New-SPSite -Url $siteCollectionUrl -OwnerAlias $currentUser -Name $siteCollectionName -Language 1033 -HostHeaderWebApplication $webApplicationUrl -Template sts#0
    $web = Get-SPWeb $siteCollectionUrl
    $web.EnsureUser($currentUser)
    $web.CreateDefaultAssociatedGroups($currentUser, "", "")

    Hi and welcome to the Skype Community,
    You can leave a group chat any time without compromising any of the separate conversation history or 1-on-1 conversation with the contact who originally invited you to the group. Take a look at our article on group chats explaining its features:

    Everytime I start a new text message there is already a video attachment in the message.  I tried removing it , resetting the phone, deleting that video, etc..no help.  If I start a new text, the video is embedded by default, help.  Its almost as if its a part of my signature but its not.  I took the video from an email message, and sent it via sms/mms to a friend, since then it just appear in every new message I create, regardless of who it is going to.  I thought maybe imessage got messed up so I turned it off and back on, still there.

    I ended up resetting my phone by erasing all contents and settings.  Not ideal, but I was getting pretty frustrated with it.  Anyway, it worked.  I hope Apple figures this out cause I don't want to have to reset again if this happens again.  good luck.

  • Slow delete whether or not deleted singly or as a group

    During performance analysis for my project I found some code where deletes from table y (I will call it), were being deleted in a loop, thus deleting one record at a time where there are approx. 87,000 records to delete.  Table y has 200 million records.  I rewrote the code to do a delete by internal table, i.e. DELETE y FROM TABLE t_y, to delete all 87,000 records at once.  The strange thing that is happening is that the deletes take about the same time whether it is a one by one delete or all at once by internal table, ~40ms per deleted record.  The delete by internal table shows in the job statistics and ST05 that it is processing 256 records at a time, so there are 340 items in the trace for the DELETE (340 * 256 ~= 87,000).  All of the reads, updates, and selects take about 1ms per record.  The internal table (t_y) is typed exactly like the transparent table.  All of the records requested to be deleted are in the table y and there are no duplicates in the internal table.
    Old Code:
    LOOP AT t_y.
         DELETE y FROM t_y.
    ENDLOOP.
    New Code:
    DELETE y FROM TABLE t_y.
    It takes approx. 1 hour to delete 87,000 records.  So the question is why deleting all records has the same speed as deleting one by one.  Secondarily, why is the system only sending 256 ercords at a time to be deleted.
    Thanks,
    Andy Goerdel

    Hi Andy,
    > one by one delete or all at once by internal table, ~40ms per deleted record.
    > updates, and selects take about 1ms per record
    first of all the delete has to touch the table and all indexes which is not the case for select and not necessarily for the update.
    So depending on the number of indexes defined a delete has to be slower than a select or an update (which does not touch all rows) because it has to do more i/o.
    > It takes approx. 1 hour to delete 87,000 records.  So the question is why deleting all records has the same speed as
    > deleting one by one.
    that is an interesting one. One should assume that the array processing should be sligthly faster... .
    > Secondarily, why is the system only sending 256 records at a time to be deleted.
    The SAP application server communicates in blocks (size depends... could be 32, 40, 64 or 128) with the database.
    The key fields for the delete are filled in such a block until it is full. You have no influence here.
    How much indexes are defined on your table? The 40 ms is most likely driven by physical i/o for table and index blocks.
    The amount of i/o that needs to be done is the same for one by one or for array processing. The array interface only
    redcues the number of calls. Obviously these savings are relatively small compared to the i/o that needs to be done
    in any case.
    With ST04 you can check how much physiscal i/os are redquired for your deletes.
    Kind regards,
    Hermann
