If I delete everything on my camera roll will it remain in my photo stream?

I have an 8 gb 4th gen iPhone and I am running really low on memory space. I have checked, and every photo from my camera roll is on my photo stream. If I completely delete everything off my camera roll will they stay in my photo stream?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
If you delete photos from Camera Roll, they will stay on Photo Stream. Note that Photo Stream photos are deleted 30 days after adding them to Photo Stream, so copy them to your other devices before if you don't want to lose photos

  • HT201317 Some of my older camera roll pictures are not on my photo stream, how do I get them on my photo stream?

I just now turned on my photo stream so my pictures from my iphone 4S can go to my desk top.  Not sure why I didn't do this sooner, and a bunch of pictures from my photo stream didn't make it to my computer.  Also, a bunch of pictures that are on my camera roll are not appearing on my photo stream.  Not sure how to solve this problem.

PhotoStream holds a maximum of 1000 pictures, and they must be 30 days old, or less.

  • When my photos are backed up to my iCloud, and i delete them from my camera roll and then back up my photos again, the pics i deleted are still on my icloud taking up space?

im trying to free up space on my iCloud from pics i had on my camera roll that i dont need or want that did get backed up to my iCloud. i wasnt aware that pics stay there after i delete them from my camera roll. if thats correct.

You don't need to delete photos from your camera roll to save on backup sizes, you can turn individual items on and off for back up in your iCloud back up settings.
Apple States that the last 3 back ups are accessible, which means the photos from your back up may not be removed immediately.
Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.

  • The photos in camera roll are not uploading to my photo stream.

The photos in my camera roll on my iPhone are not uploading to my Photo Stream.  Both devices are logged in to the same apple account and both are connected to wifi.

Is your iPhone properly charged? It will not update, if the battery is low, and will not upload, if the camera app is open. So make sure the camera is closed - double click the Home button and swipe the camera preview up to close the app.

  • I deleted some videos from camera roll but they still appear in the videos folder

I removed some videos from my 4s to my computer but they still appear in a file called videos on my phone.  The file Videos doesn't show up on my computer when I plug my phone in to the USB.  How can I see this file on my computer when my phone is plugged in?

The "Photos section" within the Photos app is just a view of your Photo Stream, organized by dates and locations.  You can see the exact same content by looking at "My Photo Stream" within the Albums section of the Photos app.
So, deleting things from Camera Roll will have no effect on Photo Stream nor the "Photos" section of the app, except for pictures in Camera Roll which may not have been uploaded to Photo Stream yet.

  • TS4036 My camera roll will not restore from iCloud after updating my iPhone 4 to iOS 6. It shows I have 1.7 gigs of photos stored on camera roll but none are appearing on my phone. Everything else restored from iCloud.

My camera roll will not restore from iCloud after updating my iPhone 4 to iOS 6. It shows I have 1.7 gigs of photos stored on camera roll but none are appearing on my phone. Everything else restored from iCloud. When I go to iCloud.com my photostream is not there.

A response I put together from another post. Also going into iTunes and choosing to sync phone to iCloud then back "this computer" sometimes works.
First thing.. Stop where you are. Don't try to sync, update, hard reset, iCloud... Just stop.
Check on your phone under 'SETTINGS' 'GENERAL' USAGE'. It should show some value for PHOTOSTREAM. Also, connect to iTunes and you will notice at the bottom of your phones summary page that there is a large amount of 'OTHER' data.
I used third party software called iExplorer (formerly iPhone explorer). In this program you select 'MEDIA FOLDER', then 'DCIM'. In the various apple folders (IE: 101APPLE) you should be able to preview your photos and copy them to your desktop.
From there sync them back to your device through iTunes or whatever method you use.
There is a simpler solution I'm sure, which may involve using iExplorer to delete some .plist files then restart the phone and let it rebuild. I'm going to try it myself AFTER I've finished copying all the photos to my MAC
    Hope this helps.

  • Why can't I delete pictures off of camera roll. I also can't send a picture to a friends phone. One last question.......why do pictures freeze up on the screen and I have to hit the power button to go back to home screen. Thanks for any help.

Why can't I delete pictures off of camera roll?  I also can't send Pictures to someone else's phone. My picture seems to freeze up and I can't do anything, particularly delete the picture. I'm new to iPhone so I'm really just learning how this iphone thing works :)

Did you recently start using iCloud to backup your photos?
Wife had the same problem today.  Remembering that I had recently signed her up for more space on iCloud and started backing up her photos, I decided to roll the dice and turn that off.  Plug phone back into computer and *boom* I now have the option to delete.  Now I just have to figure out how I can do both = \

  • If I delete photos from my camera roll will I lose them from the cloud as well?

If I delete photos from my camera roll will they be deleted from my cloud as well?

No, photos in photo stream are not effected by deleting photos from your camera roll.  However, while photo stream photos are not deleted from your phone after they are in your photo stream album, photos older than 30 days are deleted from photo stream.  These means if you ever turn photo stream off, or connect a new device to photo stream, only photos added in the last 30 days will be available to download.  To keep them permanently, import your camera roll photos to your computer before deleting them (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083).

  • HT202786 my friend shared a video with me on icloud photo sharing and then she deleted it from her camera roll, how do I save it???(very urgent)

DVDs are encoded into MPEG2, which iMovie cannot edit. So you need to convert the DVD back to something else. For highest quality, I recommend that you convert the DVD to Apple Intermediate Codec. There is a free tool called MPEG Streamclip that will do this. You will also need to install the Apple QuickTIme MPEG2 Playback Component.
    Here are the details.
    1) Download and install the Apple MPEG2 QuickTime Component ($20) - available online from Apple.
    2) Download and install MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5 (free).
    3) Start MPEG Streamclip
    4) Insert your DVD into your Mac. If DVD Player or Front Row starts automatically quit those.
    5) Open a Finder window. Navigate to your DVD to the Video_TS folder.
    6) Drag the .VOB files from the Video_TS folder and drop then into MPEG Streamclip.
    7) If MPEG Streamclip offers to fix timecode breaks, say yes.
    8) Use FILE/EXPORT TO QUICKTIME to convert the files to Apple Intermediate Codec (or h.264 if you prefer)
9a) Optional: You can deinterlace your footage in this step, if you like
9b) optional: If you know the date and or time of the footage, name your file
    clip-yyyy-mm-dd hh;mm;ss
(let mpeg streamclip provide the extension). This will provide metadata that iMovie will use to put the event in the right year and month.
9c) Optional: If you don't want to make one huge clip out of your DVD, you can make smaller clips by using MPEG Streamclip. Move the cursor to the "in" point of the clip, and press i. Move the cursor to the "Out" point of the clip, and press o. Then do steps 8 through 10 and repeat until you have done this for all clips you want.
    10) Save the resulting file in a place where you can find it, like your Desktop.
    11) Open iMovie.
    12) In iMovie, choose FILE/IMPORT/From File and choose the file you saved in steps 8, 9, 10.
    13) iMovie will generate thumbnails and you can edit.

Welcome to the Apple Community Diane.
I find that shared video can be troublesome, a few haven't appeared to work as you describe but have done when I've looked at a later date. Hopefully they will work if you give them a bit longer. perhaps it would be a good idea if you make sure they are working before deleting them from the camera roll.

  • How can i delete a picture from camera roll without deleting everywhere

how can i delete a picture in camera roll without deleting everywhere

You can't, when you 'copy' a photo into an album that you've created directly on the iPad then you are effectively just creating a pointer to the photo and not creating a second copy of it - so if you then delete the original photo from your iPad you will also be deleting all pointers to it and therefore removing it from other albums.

  • After sorting my pictures into albums, I  deleted them from the camera roll, now they're all gone. Including the ones filed in the albums. Would it be possible to get them back ?

after sorting my pictures into albums, I deleted them from the camera roll, includings the ones filed in the albums. Would it e possible to get them back ?

A photo in the Camera Roll cannot be in an album unless the photo remains in the Camera Roll. Photos in an album or not duplicated. A photo in an album includes a pointer to the original photo stored in the Camera Roll. The Camera Roll is for temporary storage. Photos/videos can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera.
The Camera Roll is included with your iPhone's backup. If your iPhone's backup has been updated to include all photos that were in the Camera Roll and has not been updated since the photos were deleted, you can try restoring your iPhone from your iPhone's backup. Do not update your iPhone's backup before doing so and decline the prompt to update your iPhone's backup as the first step after selecting Restore.

  • HT201302 How to delete all pictures in Camera Roll at once?

How to delete all pictures in Camera Roll at once?

It's so easy on a Mac - open Image Capture utility, conect iPhone and then you see all the pictures and videos, just arrange them and delete what you wish. I just recovered 13GB on my iPhone...
It would be useful to import them beforehand if needed:)
