If I do a restore, will I loose all my contents, ie music,mail etc?
My iPod touch will not sync, says internal device error, if I do a restore, will I loose all my contents, if not, how do I do a restore?
If you restore from backup then the iPod will be like it is provided that all synced media like apps and music are in the iTunes library of the computer on which you do the restore. The backup that iTunes makes does not inlcude synced media like aps and music. For how to restore see:

With a corrupt disk, the install procedure is most likely going to fail.
How old it the disk?
You might be able to reformat it to fix the problem. Of course that means you lose all of your data.
The other alternative is to get a new disk drive and put that in your Mac and install OS X
Then put the old disk drive in an enclosure and see what can be recovered from it.

Why not? You should be syncing/importing them regularly, particlularly before any update. -

I used to share an Itunes account but I recently made my own through my phone. I have all my stuff from my phone backed up on the computer on my old Apple ID/Itunes account. I want to back up all my current content on my phone to my NEW Apple ID/Itunes account but I'm afraid things will erase if I try to do so. How can I do this and still keep all the content on my phone currently?
You can't back up iTunes store content to a different account on your oomputer.

You shouldn't lose anything from your computer. You should always make sure that your backup copy of your computer ( including your itunes library) is up to date before any update.

What exactly does the message you're getting say? Where are you seeing it?
If the phone is in recovery mode, everything on the phone is already gone.
Your music should already be in the iTunes library on your computer. -
I just hooked up to my computer to down load new songs it said new version of software is avalable, after down load I pod went into restor mode. Is there any way to get it to work beside the restore? and will I loose all my photos and vidios?

Yes, that is your only option.Yes. You have to restore.
Try the following if you have difficulty restoring.
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

By the "restore iTunes symbol" do you mean a USB cable and the iTunes symbol? If so the device is in Recovery Mode and the device has already been erased and it needs to be Restored using iTunes. No, you will not. First what you do is back up the iPad before you sync (right click on iPad and then click back up). Then restore the iPad you will be given the option to reload from the last back up.
