If i download a song on my iPad, how do i get it onto my computer?

i downloaded a song on my iPad and it worked fine, but i assumed that because i use the same itunes account on my computer it would automatically download the song onto my computer iTunes as well. This was not the case and I'm not really sure what to do? Do i have to repurchase the item on my computer as well..?

You can either connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and do File > Transfer Purchases. Or, depending on which country that you are in, you might be able to re-download it on your computer's iTunes and for future purchases be able to use automatic downloads.

You have two options to get the music onto your Mac:
1. Connect your device to the Mac, open iTunes and go to File menu (on the menu bar) > Devices > Transfer purchases.

I agree with the above user (TheAppleHelperMan) however i dont think you cam delete songs by swiping them on the device because when you next plug your ipad into the computer they will automatically sync back on...
Connect your ipad to the computer, go on itunes, let it sync if it wants to and them go under music and there should be a little tick box with something along the lines of sync only selected songs, tick that and then something should pop up with all your music, go through and tick the music you want, then press done or something like that and then sync your ipad again... This should work because it has worked with m in the pass...

You can NOT connect a Nano to an iPad. Never going to happen. Each device is stored separately in iTunes. But music, photos, apps, etc., can be synced between devices as long as they share the SAME APPLE ID. What I've tried to tell you is that you connect your Nano to your computer and in iTunes you sync the music to your Nano from iTunes. Your iPad doesn't get connected anywhere in this equation.

First, the app must be universal...designed for both iPhone/iPad:
Tap App Store.
Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
Tap Updates.
Tap Purchased on the resulting screen.
Locate the app in your Purchased tab.
Tap the download icon.
The app will begin downloading and you'll be taken back to your home screen.
