If i download itunes on a new computer and sync my music will it delete all the music i have on my phone right now?

i had to completely reset my computer and i still have music and apps and everything on my phone but how do i sync itunes with my phone without losing everything that is already on my phone?

Yes.
Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything back.
Certainly you did not reset your ocmputer without making sure that your backup copy was up to date.

I downloaded itunes on a new computer and signed in, how can i get the existing music, etc from my ipod to my library without losing it? HELP!

Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.
The ipod is not a backup/storage device.

  • I've just downloaded itunes on a new computer, and I'm downloading music from the cloud, but it seems to stick on certain songs and won't download them at all, stopping at a certain point. How do I get round this?

    Hi all,
I've just downloaded itunes onto a new computer, and I'm currently downloading previously owned music from the cloud. However, it keeps sticking on various songs - it will get part of the way through and just stop, this seems to happen to about 1 in 10 songs. How do I get round this?
Also, once I've finished dowloading from the cloud, how do I get my library to display only the songs I've downloaded, and not all the other ones that I don't want anymore?
    Cheers, Alex

Yes. I have no personal experience with this, but it is possible to recover your music from an iPod. See this link: http://guides.macrumors.com/Recovering_Songs_from_an_iPod

Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes, which is available here -> http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Then try following the steps in this Apple article to create an account without a credit card -> Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card

  • Will downloading itunes to a new pc and syncing my phone cause me to lose data?

Will downloading itunes to a new pc and syncing my phone cause me to lose data?

    Hey Davidl678,
Thanks for the question. It sounds like you are unable to download the purchases from your purchase history, because iTunes believes the songs to be in your library. It may be necessary to delete the items from your library, then re-download from your purchase history. Before doing so, you may want to take note of which song are available for re-download:

  • I downloaded iTunes to a new computer and authorized that computer but my music is grayed out and will not play, how do I get access to my music?

I installed iTunes to a new computer and authorized that computer but my music is grayed out.  How do I get access to my music?

Is there a way to change that?
You can easily set up the iPod to automatically sync to your current iTunes library (or just do a Restore), but that will replace the iPod's existing content with content from your current iTunes library (erasing the iPod).  If your old computer was "retired" gracefully and you were able to transfer its complete iTunes user data to your new computer, there is no problem because all of the songs on the iPod now are already in your current iTunes library.  However, if there are songs on the iPod that are not in your current iTunes library, those songs will be lost.  That may be a problem...
If you want to preserve what is on the iPod, you can try setting the iPod to Manually manage music and videos.  I believe you can do that from an iTunes library that is not the iPod's currently associated library.  Select the iPod in iTunes, so that you see its Summary settings screen.  Check the box for Manually manage music and videos.  (If iTunes puts up any warning about erasing or replacing the iPod's existing content, Revert the change and cancel out.)  Click Apply.  The iPod is no longer set to automatically sync.  But you can add new content manually to what is already on the iPod.  And the songs should not be grayed out.
However, you cannot use iTunes to transfer songs on the iPod to your current iTunes library (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store).  If there are songs on the iPod that are not in your computer's iTunes library, you should eventually "offload" those song files because your iPod can easily break, become corrupted, or get lost.  iTunes syncs content in one direction only (from computer to iPod), but there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do an Internet search on something like iPod "transfer," you should get some links, including a CNET article on the topic.
Once all of your songs are "consolidated" in your current iTunes library, you can set up the iPod for automatic syncing to that library.

  • Can I download Itunes on a new computer and still keep the existing music on my nano

Hello,  I have a Nano from 2007.  The computer my Itunes was on is gone.  Can I download Itunes on my new notebook, download music and still retain my existing music? Thank you

Sync is only oneway, from PC to your device. Unless you have the music on your PC, iTunes is going to wipe out what you have on your device if you are syncing to a new library.
You can only transfer Purchased music over to Itunes on your PC.

As for you own music, you may have to use a third party software. A good Free one is called Sharepod which you can download from Download.com here:

  • Loaded itunes on a new computer, and synced ipad.  Now only those few songs I had on the ipad are in my library.  But all of my ipods (3) have my full music library.  How do i get all my songs moved back into my library from one of my ipods?

I installed itunes on a new laptop, with Windows 8, and synced my ipad.  Now my music library has only those few songs I had synced to the ipad, or roughly a quarter of my original library.  My ipods (all three) still have the full library, but everytime I try to sync them, I am asked if I want to delete all of the contents and replace with the (much smaller) itunes library.  Of course I don't, but how do I "reverse sync" and replace all the music contents of my library with the contents from one of my ipods?

  • HT1719 I have music on my Shuffle and want to transfer it onto iTunes but when I go to Sync it, it warns me that all the music on my Shuffle will be deleted and replaced with what's on my iTunes. I have a new mac-mini and my old computer was an HP.

Can anyone tell me how to tranfer the music that is on my Shuffle to iTunes? When I go to Sync it, it gives me a warning that all the music on my Shuffle will be deleted and replaced with what is on my iTunes. I recently changed computers from an HP to a Mac-Mini and did not transfer/sync the itunes prior to getting rid of my itunes. So the music I had on itunes does not appear in my library. Help please!

  • I downloaded itunes on my new computer and none of my music is showing up.  What do I do?

I just bought a new computer, because my other one was stolen. I have downloaded Itunes and non of my music is showing up.  What do I do?

You are supposed to copy your library, itunes folder and music files over in order for your new computer to show up your music.  Since it's stolen, you can only redownload your past purchase from iTunes.
Go to the iTunes Store and select "Purchased" from the Quick Links side bar on the right. Go through all the tabs to download again for free

  • I downloaded itunes to a new computer and it wiped everything off my ipod touch???

I got a laptop because my tower computer was ruined except for my drivers. I installed itunes on the laptop and connected my ipod touch and it wiped everything off. I beleive the backup never finished before it erased everything. Is there any way to retrieve my music pics and such now that they are gone and do not even exist on the new laptop?????

I they are not on your new computer they are gone.  If you can't get them from your old computer they are gone forever.
You can only sync an iPod to one iTunes library/computer.  When you change libriares/computer iTunes will erase you iPoa\d and replace its contents with what is in the iTunes library of the hew computer.
You can redownload app and maybe music.  from Itunes.  See:

With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:
