  • All my photos are backed up onto iPhoto, is it safe to delete them off my iPhone?

I have about 1,600 photos on my iphone and need to delete them to move room. I have backed them all up onto iPhoto but am unsure is this ensures saftey of alll of my photos or whether there needs to be a folder in picture for them?

  • HT201317 Once photostream pictures are downloaded onto my mac will they stay in iPhoto forever after i have deleted them off of my phone?

Once photostream pictures are downloaded onto my mac will they stay in iPhoto forever after i have deleted them off of my phone?

When I synced my iPhone I my Mac , it automatically created a file called photo stream and imported all photos from phone into that file on my Mac.
Do you mean the "Photo Stream" album in the "Web" section of iPhoto? Like shown here?
If that is the only place where you are seeing your photos, in "my Photo Stream" in the "Web" section of Photo, then you need to copy these photos to an event to import them into the library.
The Photo Stream album is only showing you what currently can be imported from iCloud, and the photos will vanish after a month, so you are having a limited time to grab them.
If you have enabled "Automatic Import" in iPhoto's Photo Stream Preferences, it should already have created an event "July Photo Stream" and other monthly events with the photos from the streams. What find in these monthly events has been savely imported.

  • Do my pictures stay on Ipad if I delete them off of my iphone?

My question is if I have an IPAD and my pictures download through Icloud;  If I delete the pictures off my phone will they remain on the ipad?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
If you delete any pictures in photo stream from your phone, then they are also deleted from your iPad.
Note however, if the photos were originally taken on your iPad, whilst they will be removed from photo stream, they will not be removed from the iPad's camera roll.

  • I uploaded a lot of important pictures to iPhoto, after downloading them I deleted them off my memory card. Now, iPhoto will not let me look at the pictures and the album in which I put them is empty. Where did they go? What should I do? Help please!

I uploaded a lot of important pictures to iPhoto, and then deleted them off my memory card. I tried looking at the pictures and they are no wheere to be found, the album in which they were is empty, and I looked everywhere for them. Where did they go? What should I do?

Check to make sure the iPhoto Advanced preferences are set to copy photos into the library when importing, i.e. a "managed" library:
If it is and you don't see any thumbnail in the Event they should be in apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with
Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
If you are unable to get iPhoto to recover the photos MediaRECOVER can be used on the memory card to recover the photos as long a they haven't been overwritten.  It will run in demo mode so you can see if it will recover the photo before you have to purchase it.

  • I just downloaded 950 photos on iPhoto and deleted them off my camera and now under last import there is only 4 photos and i can't find the others?? There is a whole bunch of blank events in the library with no photos in them all with todays date? Help!!

Yes - you need a min of 10 GB just to operate - with just 1 you certainly can lose photos and other critical things - you need to make space immediately - probably by moving your iPhoto library to a volume formatted Mac OS extended -
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

I recently downloaded Ios 7 and all the songs that i have purchased before, but deleted off my itunes because i didn't want them, showed up. I don't know how to delete them off my ipod and i really don't want them there. Is there a way to get them off? The songs dont show up in my itunes on my computer, just on my ipod with a download button next to them. I don't want them there anymore because i don't like that kind of music anymore and i don't know how to get them to go away.

There is a similar setting for Videos on that Settings screen, so if you leave that 'on' you may have similar happening in the Videos app

  • HT201250 I want to use Time Machine to back up my pictures because my hard drive is full but I'm wondering if once I back up the pictures then delete them will time machine delete them off the back up too?

I want to use Time Machine to back up my pictures because my hard drive is full but I'm wondering if once I back up the pictures then delete them will time machine delete them off the back up too?

    Evetually yes.
If your pictures have been in the same location (same folder, same subfolder, ...) for more than a week, then copies if them will remain in your TM backups until it fills up. They are then vulnerable to being deleted.
If they've been there for less than a week, TM could delete them as early as a month from now. If they've been there for only a few hours, chances are TM will delete them tomorrow.
This is why TM is not the best tool to use to archive data that you will be deleting from your main hard drive. Copy them to a dedicated external drive, or burn DVDs.

You cannot. However, you can solve this problem by setting the iPhone as a new device and upgrading iOS in Settings -> Software Update.
After upgrading iOS, open Settings -> General -> Reset -> Erase All Content and Settings. Finally, Setup Assistant will let you restore the backup.

  • I've got a iPod classic 80g I've got loads of pictures on there and I want to get them off. I've tried something where the files I get off come up as thumbnails which I can't open. Is there any way of getting them off and viewing them as a normal photo?

  • If I backup my pictures to icloud can I delete them off my ipad and how do I retrieve them later?

I Need more space on my ipad to download a movie, if I backup my photos to icloud and then delete them off my ipad how do I retrieve them at a later date?

No.  If you delete them from your device, they will be deleted from iCloud.  To keep them, import them from your camera roll to your computer as explained here: iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer.  You will get an option to delete them after they are imported.  If you have photo stream photos that you want to keep, save them to your camera roll so they can be imported too.

  • IPhone 6, and storage.. Why is my phone saying that I don't have storage, when I have transferred all of my pictures to ICloud, and deleted them off of my phone. What is going on...???????

I have uploaded my pictures to ICloud, and i have deleted them off of my phone. My phone is saying that it is out of storage, and that pictures take up more than anything else on my phone, How can that be, I am frustrated, and Apparently I am not the only one experiencing these problems. My friends that have the 6+ are experiencing the same issues.

Did you delete your photos in your deleted photo folder? I you didn't their still on your phone taking up space.

  • I have pictures on my iPad and they are backed up on my icloud, if I delete them off of my iPad, will they be deleted or stored on my icloud

I have pictures on my iPad and they are backed up on my icloud, if I delete them off of my iPad, will they be deleted or stored on my icloud

The only photos backed up up on iCloud is your Camera Roll when you run iCloud Backup and they can't be accessed without restoring your whole devices.
Photo Stream is not a backup. It is a sync tool.
Photo Stream only holds 30 days of photos on the server and 1000 photos on your iOS device.
To keep them safe, all your photos should be transfered to your computer and backed up.
Once they are safely on your computer, then delete them from your iPad.
