If I export bookmarks to internet explorer will they remain in firefox?

I would like to export firefox bookmarks to internet explorer without losing them in firefox.

No, you will never lose bookmarks in Firefox if you export them to an HTML backup or to a JSON backup.
If you would import an HTML backup then those bookmarks will be merged to the existing bookmarks.<br />
Restoring a JSON backup in Firefox however will replace all existing bookmarks and you get a warning about this.

    * Make sure that you not run Firefox in [[Private Browsing]] mode
    * In Private Browsing mode some menu items are disabled (grayed) and features like visited links are disabled and not showing
    * You are in Private Browsing mode if you see "Tools > Stop Private Browsing", possibly grayed
    * You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
    * To see all History settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting <b>Firefox will: Use custom settings for history</b>
    * Uncheck: [ ] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"
It usually works better if you export the Favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
    * Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export
    * Import the HTML file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File

  • How do I input favorites/bookmarks from Internet Explorer?

I just installed Firefox and had hoped it would somehow automatically copy the favorites/bookmarks from Internet
Explorer (IE9). That didn't happen so I'm now trying to determine
how one can find and import that list of favorites/bookmarks into Firefox.

Is this about importing bookmarks on a mobile device (the question details show Firefox OS) or is this about importing on a desktop computer?
If there are problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
If you do not have the menu bar in IE then right-click the toolbar at the top to enable the Menu Bar.

  • I am importing bookmarks from Internet Explorer 9. If the bookmark has a subdirectory, I don't get the links in the subdirectory.

I am running Mozilla Firefox 20.0.1 under Windows 7 Ultimate.
I am trying to import bookmarks from Internet Explorer 9.0.15.
If the bookmark has a subdirectory, I don't get any of the links in the subdirectory.
This has not happened on my other computers:
Internet Explorer 8 under Windows XP Professional
Internet Explorer 9 under Windows 7 Professional

This incomplete importing sometimes happens for unknown reasons.
You can manually export your bookmarks from IE and then import them into Firefox using an HTML file as an intermediary format. This thread has the steps: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/835144 Only 1/3rd of my bookmarks imported from IE. How do I move the rest?]

  • UNABLE TO TRANSFER BOOKMARKS FROM INTERNET EXPLORER SINCE I UPDATED F/FOX

i had an earlier version of firefox and kept my bookmarks but when i updated f/fox i lost the b/marks
can you please send me easy instructions as i am a beginner
    many thanks

Firefox tries to keep bookmarks when you update it. If however you use the option saying something like "delete settings" it will delete all settings and profile detail for all installed versions of firefox.
If you still have bookmarks on Internet Explorer, you could reimport them again. It is sometimes possible using recovery software to get bookmarks back that have been deleted see this [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/787020 thread] <-- clickable link -- ''"I deleted by mistake bookmarks by uninstalling the previous version of Firefox beta 4.011b... Is there anyway to recover them?"''

  • Importing bookmarks from internet explorer doesn't work

when i try to import bookmarks from internet explorer it say it's completed the import, but nothing was imported.

You can usually find the imported IE Favorites in a folder ("From Internet Explorer") at the bottom of the Bookmarks Menu folder (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks).
If you can't find them in the folder ("From Internet Explorer") or otherwise have problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the Favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.<br />
That way you also preserve any sorting that you may have done in IE with the Favorites.
    * Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export

I have a problem with Firefox loading. It will not load and it says Firefox is using a proxy that refuses connection. Check with your network administrator. How do I get Firefox to work. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it twice. Any help would be great thanks.

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer will disable all Active X objects

I wonder if Macromedia have an offical response to this?
Basically, all future versions of Internet Explorer will disable
    the active x flash player!!!
    http://developer.apple.com/internet/ieembedfaq.html

    > Jeckyl...Simple solution or not, your "so what-big deal"
    response to this
    > is
    > cavalier.
I never made a 'what-big deal' response. Read my reply again.
I explained that it requires work from you as a web developer
    to ensure your
site works seamlessly with Internet Explorer (as it now is).
    My response
was, rather, a 'whether you like it or not' response .. and
    that's simply
    how it is.
    > I stand by my comment about a border around my Flash
    objects.
You mean your flippant remark about adding them yourself if
    you wanted it?
That simply shows your complete ignorance of the issue. The
    change was not
so you would have an automatic border around activex objects
    .. that's not
the point of it, its just a side-effect of the change
    required to prevent IE
    infringing the stupid EOLAS patent.
    > You dismiss it as if it's nothing.
No .. YOU were dismissing it as nothing (or almsot monthing)
    .. as just a
border around your control. Its a much bigger issue than such
    a
    trivialising remark suggests.
    > It is not a silly comment...it's reality.
Indeed .. and you under-stated the nature of the reality of
    the effects of
the change. Obviosuly you don't see it as big a deal as it
    really is.
    > I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I am busy and I don't
    want to waste time
    > FIXING
    > a problem created by someone else. Obviously I have no
    choice.
Exactly .. NOONE wants to have been placed in this situation.
    NOONE is
happy about it (least of all Microsoft).
So now you have to do some work to remove the border you
    don't want. Tough
.. complaining about how you don't like it isn't at all
    helpful.
    > Apparently some people have lots of play-time on their
    hands.
No .. we are all in the same boat .. we just don't make
    flippant remarks
    about it.
And .. despite your attitude, I will give you the link to a
    page that lists
the simple solutions as well as links to the more complex
    'official'
    solutions.

I want to import bookmarks from Internet Explorer 8, but the import link under file in Firefox is ghosted out and doesn't allow me access. How can I access the Firefox import function?

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Just use a different browser. Are the files on the DVD just HTML files? If so, then right click on the HTMl file (Control-Click if you don't have a two button mouse) and pick Open With... and point it to another browser. Firefox, Camino (what I currently use), Opera, etc.

    or
You can try uninstalling IE8 then reinstalling it.
    Uninstall IE8
I would take 'Y2ken's' advice and try Firefox.  I have used it for years with XP Pro and Ubuntu, Linux.  It definitely is more responsive.  Most of what is in IE8 was developed in FF several years ago.  FF was the first browser with tabs, for instance.

  • Internet explorer will open Automatically

    Hi,
One of my user have windows vista Home basic- SP2. Internet explorer will open Automatically at 10:00 AM. i have block third party cookies and clear the Add-on's still it same issue. can you help me how to fix this issue.

    Hi,
    Start>Windows Update
    review their Windows Update settings....
change to automatically install updates. Usually updates are installed once a month, but they may have scheduled WU to check daily...
    or
Start>Task Scheduler... check for any scheduled tasks that run at that time.
a hint may be obtained by looking at what web address that IE is trying to open.
When asking internet related questions its helpful if you include the full address of any websites that you are having issues with.
Some web browser addons place entries in the Windows Startup list and are not disabled when you disable them from an IE Reset....
Home Versions of Windows do not have the MSConfig utility which you would use to disable windows startup items. You will have to manually look for rogue entries in the Registry....HKCU\Software\Microsoft\windows\current version
To test if there is a malware entry in the windows startup list...reboot the machine into Safe Mode with networking and leave it running overnight. If IE is running when you come in in the morning, then you know there is a malware item in the startup list...
Commonly the GoogleToolbarUpdater.exe may be running.... you may be able to see if its active in the Tasks Manager's Processes tab.
    Regards.

  • Yahoo mail will not let me download an attachment But Internet Explorer will!

When using FireFox with yahoo mail I can not download an attachment on an e-mail but Internet explorer will!

As stated above - purchasing more space in iCloud has nothing to do with this. You do not have enough space left on the iPad for the movie to download, you need to delete content on the device itself.
You may want to transfer purchases to iTunes and then delete some content on the device to make room.
