If I format my Mac, will my iPhone need to restore?

Recently I formatted my Mac. Now I want to connect my iPhone to transfer my recent purchases in iTunes, but do I have to restore my iphone when I connect it to the "new" computer?
When I press sync it says:
Are you sure you want to remove existing music, movies, TV shows, books and notes from this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library?
How do I keep the music I bought on the iPhone?

Once the content is back on the computer sync it. Yes it will ask you to erase. Select erase and sync. Then resynch the content back onto your iPhone.
Might be worthwhile thinking about a back up as well

It all depends on what you do.
If you reformat the partition containing OS X then nothing will happen to the BootCamp partition.
If the other hand you reformat the whole disk then it will be gone.
Why do you think you need to reformat the drive?

At this point it is too late. When you restore it will restore the backup made at the time of the last sync. And changes to the phone's content after that last sync will be lost.

Iphone need to restore almost every day

I have an IPHONE 3GS which I purchased in Italy (open for all the networks).
About a week ago in the middle of the day the iphone suddenly had “no service” sign and I couldn’t get any calls. I tried to restart but it showed the screen “iphone need to restore” – I was than in version 3.1.2 .
Since then I tried to restored it for many times and upgrade to 4.1 firmware. Most of the times I get the restore error 1013. But a few times the restore succeeded and the iphone worked for half a day until it showed the “no service” sign again and I couldn’t use it.
Can anyone please advise me what to do? There is no apple service in my country.

I read the message from the link you send,
On my iphone the IMEI sometimes is unknown and sometimes is 011983006774560 (not the default).
Now i cant even restore it because the i-tune display that there is no SIM card although there is.
What can it be?

I was doing the most recent update for my phone, and then it suddenly stopped and said my iPhone needed to be restored. I can't restore it because then I'll lose more than 2,000 photos and videos that are not on iTunes. Is there anything I can do?

Downloaded 5.01 and latest itunes. Had errors on iphone needed to restore now when i plug into itunes it freezes I need to use task master to close.if i plug my wifes phone in no problems with itunes took it to apple store tech no help.

Have iphone 3g with 5.0 I downloaded 5.01 for phone and itunes latest download. Had errors on download and needed to restore. Everything came back except apps.
Pluged into itunes and it gave me the restore screen. restored again. Now when i plug into itunes it shows my phone but freezes up. I need to use task master to close itunes. Went to apple store tech. No help said to use Icloud but no WiFi is available. My wife's phone works fine with itunes.

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.
If you have gone through ALL the above steps and are still having problems, then you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation.

You can put the iphone into recovery mode to restore it.
Disconnect the USB cable from your iPhone, but leave the other side connected to your Mac or PC
Launch iTunes.
Press and hold down the Home and Sleep/Power button on the top of the iPhone to turn off the iPhone.
Press and continue to hold the Home button while you reconnect the USB cable to your iPhone, this will cause the iPhone to turn on.
Continue to hold the Home button until an alert message in iTunes informing you that an iPhone in recovery mode has been detected.

I have an iPod Nano that I originally started up/formatted on my MacBook (2 yrs old, black one). I am trying to put music on it from my Powerbook G4 (5 years old, silver) and for some reason, my Powerbook thinks my iPod is formatted for Windows. ??

Need help restoring MAC iPod

I had accidently formatted a MAC iPod nano on a windows computer. Now my MAC computer will not recognize the nano. The mac will not allow me to restore the nano. Please help.
When I plug the nano in to my MAC it goes through 15 second cycles of an alert about an ID and password that is no longer accepted by the iPod in order to restore it.
Any help would be appreciated.

I got around this very issue by using Disk Utility to format my 20GB 'click wheel' iPod choosing Mac OS Extended (journaled) for Volume Format. Reformat will will erase all data on the iPod, so don't do this if you have data on the iPod you need to retain.
After my iPod was reformatted, iTunes 7.02 still would not perform a Restore, so I used an old verion of iPod Updater 2004-08-06 to successfully Restore to 3.01.
Check /Application/Utilities/iPod Software Updaters for past release levels of iPod Software Updater that may still be on your hard drive.
I then used iPod Updater 2006-06-28 to successfully Restore a second time to the current 3.1.1 as iTunes 7.02 still would not Restore to the current version.

did you turn 'find my mac' ON your MBA BEFORE your it was stolen? if not, you will not be able to do anything to the stolen MBA
if you did turn it on before it was stolen, yes it will erase everything on the MBA

Ive got the same problem, just got my iphone unlocked, and they told me to sync it to itunes to get it permently unlocked, well everytime i plug my iphone in it says; it wont work as it needs up dating to 10.6.3, which i have already updated, but still doesnt work, so how can i get my phone unlocked?
