As I Understand It (I don't work for Adobe, never done this,
etc)... You
need to deactivate the software before you do the reformat.
Then when
you re-install, you need to reactivate. You could call or
write Adobe
Tech Support and find out.

my new macbook pro is giving me hardtime. even apple team is not being to solve it. they replace the motherboard first it didn't work. second time they formatted the computer and that also didn't work. every time my mac showing different problems.
At first my computer had issues. Once it go to sleep it will not back again. I dropped my laptop at apple store to fix it. After 10  days they returned my laptop saying they were no able to fix the problem so they replaced motherboard aiming if that might help. Acttually that didn't help.I had same issue again. I visited apple store again. This time they said they could fix, if I will allow them to format the harddrive. I said ok. They formatted it. It was working fine for few daysAfter few days compter is taking.even more than 15 min to shutdown. Now computer has another problem. It is being hang frequently like every 20'to.30 min.
I don't know what to do? I still have one month left on first year warranty. I have requested couple times to apple associates either to fix or replace or refund. They are showing me rude behavior. They are not understanding my situation. I am a student. I need to do lot of home work. Since last three month my mac book and apple associates giving me hard time. Any suggestions are welcome.

Contact Apple Customer Care - not Apple Care - Customer Support. Have your receipts handy and/or case numbers. Be patient, be calm, and tell your story just as you have here. I get the sense you are not in the US and don't have access to an Apple Store but are going to an independent shop. This makes using Customer Support all the more important. If phoning isn't viable, use registered mail.
Since time is running short, be prepared to purchase AppleCare to exennd your warranty 2 more years. Yes, you shouldn't have to do this, but it gives you added protection and more opportunities over the next 2 years to claim a replacement computer if you don't get one immediately. After dealing with a similar unhappy situation with a Mac in the late 1990s I finally got a replacement computer and reimbursed for the AppleCare policy.

  • Hello, I just want to formate the computer and start fresh??

Hello, I just want to formate the computer and start fresh??

    NavarroSergio,
since you have a Late 2011 model, you can use OS X Internet Recovery to start fresh.
First, you’ll need to completely erase your internal disk. Boot your MacBook Pro into Recovery mode by holding down a Command key and the R key as it starts up. Once the Mac OS X Utilities menu appears, select Disk Utility. On the left-hand side of the Disk Utility window, select your internal disk (typically the first item in the list). On the right-hand side, click on the Erase tab. In the Format dropdown menu, select “Mac OS Extended (Journaled)”; in the Name textbox, enter a name for the reformatted volume (“Macintosh HD” is typical). Press the Erase… button, and erase your disk. When the erasure is completed, exit Disk Utility and select Shutdown from the Apple menu.
The next time that you start up, OS X Internet Recovery will download your MacBook Pro’s original version of OS X (either 10.7.2 or 10.7.3) from Apple’s servers, and then install it. When it finishes, you’ll again see the welcome video just like when you first got it. Fill in your relevant information as you did the first time, and when you log in for the first time, run Software Update to get back to 10.7.5.

  • I formatted the computer without turning off my products what should I do?

I formatted the computer without turning off my products what should I do?

    Install them all again.
Sorry, in seriousness, are you worrying about activation of a perpetual license?  Pick up the phone and call Adobe Customer Support.  Explain to them that you've reinstalled everything from scratch after formatting your system, and would like them to make it possible for you to activate Photoshop again.  They'll work their database magic and you should be good to go to activate with your serial number again.
If you're on the Creative Cloud I don't believe you need to call anyone.  Just log in with your Adobe ID.

Formating, it must be gone now?
When you update, delete and reinstall your profile is kept and only program-files are deleted / replaced. All your prefs , account details, mail, folders and add-ons are intact.

  • After formating the computer, where would I get my movies?

    Hi,
I have movies in my Mac. I would like to know what would happens if I formated my mac? what would happens if a movie was mistakenly erased?
Can I download it again? if not, does that mean I have to burn all my movies in CDes?
just some advice please to protect my sweet movies
    regards,

The iTS policy is one time download - therefore backup all your purchases and anything else.
If you reinstall the System there is an option to install/archive which will save all you settings and key all you files including tunes etc.
If you do a clean install then everything is removed or rather the files names are erased from the directory. Some of the files could still be recovered with software.

  • System Recovery media does not support the computer. HELP!!!

Ok problem here the recovery discs that were created do not work. And this is where I'm stuck.
First the details. It's a DV7-6163CL Laptop with windows 7. The discs were created shortly after we got the computer. The reason we have to try and recover the computer is hard drive #1 failed and failed hard. Hard drive was replaced. Now after trying to use the recovery discs we get the error message after a few windows loading screens in Recovery Manger.
"The system recovery media does not support this computer. You are not able to restore this computer with the media."
Well Hp doesn't support his platform anymore due to its age.
Is there anything I can do next to formatting the computer and getting a new OS?

Many times this error is caused by missing info in BIOS. Can you enter BIOS-F10 at power on- and check for serial number, etc?
Sometimes a new hdd requires prepping with Cyberlink Utility cd first. Download and Save the file. Once download is complete, put a blank cd in your drive and click the file to create a boot cd. Boot with this cd and wait until you get a green check mark indicating hdd is ready. Remove the cd , insert first Recovery Disk and restart the laptop.

  • Periodically the computer screen darkens and requests shutdown

Periodically the computer screen darkens and requests shutdown
this problem inturrupts almost everything and it started happening ever since i installed snow leopard
i want to format the computer and reinstall regular leopard because of this problem
    Basically what happens is:
•The System freezes and the screen darkens a few shades.
•A message appears requesting that i hold the power button to shut off and restart.
•When i restart a message appears that says, "You shut your computer down because of a problem"
and it requests i report it
so i reported it its happened at least once a day everyday since i installed leopard on the 28th

This is, what they call a "Kernel Panic" - a unrecoverable error encountered by the Operating System during operation.
I assume, that you did a Upgrade Installation from Leopard or Tiger. There is probably some incompatible KernelExtension or Application remaining, which causes the problem.
Can you open Console.app in Applications > Utilities. Inside Console, you go to Diagnostic Information > System Diagnostic Reports. Here's a list of all recent Application / Kernel Crashes. You are interested in the following files: "kernel_<date and time of the Crash>". Click on a few of these. You will find some Information about the crash inside. If you're lucky, there's something like this inside: "BSD process name corresponding to current thread: <APPLICATION NAME>". This can help identify the faulty App.
Also you might want to try starting in Safe Mode. If the Problem does not appear there, it's most certainly some Issue with old Software.

  • Is it possible to format the entire macbook and saving apps like microsoft word on a harddisc and then just reinstalling them without having to buy an other licence?

    Hye
I want to format my macbook but i want to save my apps like word, excel, powerpoint.. Is it possible to save them on a hard disc because i tried to save them and open them on an other mac to check if it works but it didnt..
    Thanks

I think you would have to reinstall the keys seeing that if you format the computer all the data is gone. Even though you backed up that data you never know what can happen when you try to reinstall certain apps. Not sure what method you can go by, you should run a diagnostics test to see how you computer is doing internally.
    Goodluck

  • How can I restore the previously bought apps after I have formatted my computer without backing up any of my files for iTunes?

    As titled.
I bought many apps from iTunes at the end of last year, and then my computer had got problem that I had to format and reinstall everything.
I just want to know how can I restore the previously bought apps once if I forgot to backup any of my files on the computer??
Would be really grateful if someone can show me how to. Thanks!!
FYI: At that time I was using iPad 1 and the OS was still 3.1.x. Now I am using iPhone 4 and would like to restore the apps at least those that are compatible to my phone.

  • I recently formatted my PC, I have lots of songs on my iPod which i don't want to lose, how do it put them onto the computer?

I have formatted my PC and I don't have my songs on it anymore, but all my music is on my iPod. Is there any way I can copy those files onto the computer without losing anything?
When I try synching my iPod it tells me that all data will be lost, so I don't know what to do!

    - Transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of thse discussed here:
    Copy music
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by righ clciking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup
Note that the backup that iTunes makes does noytinclude synced media like apps and music.

  • How to format my computer without affecting the software installed?

how do I format my computer without affecting the software installed?

You can, but if you don't format the drive using the Zero Data option all your personal files will still be accessible to someone who knows how to gain access to them. If that's not a concern then here are two options (easy and not so easy):
    The Easy Way
    1. First, boot from your Tiger DVD, select your language and click on the Continue button, then select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu, select your boot hard drive, go to the First Aid tab, and click the button for Repair Disk. Repeat this until no trouble is found. Then click on the Repair Permissions button. Then quit DU, return to the installer and shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes.
This will assure that the drive is OK and permissions are OK.
    2. Next, boot to single user mode by restarting and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-S keys until a black screen with white type appears.
    3. At the prompt, type the following commands pressing return after each command line:
    /sbin/fsck -yf
    mount -uw /
    rm /private/var/db/.AppleSetupDone
    shutdown -r now
The second-to-last command above will cause OS X to think that the operating system is newly installed, and when you reboot, it will send you to the startup wizard where you can start a new user without reinstalling.
    The Not So Easy Way
Follow these instructions step by step to prepare a Mac for sale:
    First, back up the data:
    1) Shut down all Virtual PCs. They cannot be in their "fast saved" state. They must be shut down from inside Windows.
    2) Clone to an external drive using Carbon Copy Cloner.
Next, prepare the machine for the new buyer:
    3) Deauthorize the computer in iTunes! Deauthorize both iTunes and Audible accounts.
    4) Remove Open Firmware passwords
    5) Turn the brightness full up and volume nearly so.
    Install a fresh OS:
    6) Insert the OS X install CD/DVD.
    7) Restart the computer while holding down the C key to boot from the CD/DVD.
    8) Run Disk Utility from the file menu and erase the internal hard drive (optionally zero all data).
    9) Install OS X.
    10) Reboot the computer.
    11) From the welcome screen, you can skip the registration step by typing command-Q.
    12) When prompted, create an account (it will be an admin account).
    13) From your new admin account, configure networking.
    14) Then use Software Update to bring your system and all of it's applications up to date.
    15) From Disk Utility, repair permissions on the new volume.
Now delete the account you just created:
    16) Boot from a different volume (e.g. a firewire drive, if available)
    17) Clean up the image using the following terminal commands:
    prompt> rm /Volumes/<imagevol>/var/db/BootCache.playlist
    prompt> rm /Volumes/<imagevol>/var/db/volinfo.database
    prompt> rm -r /Volumes/<imagevol>/var/vm/swap*
    18) Now you can get rid of the admin account you used to set up the machine Use the terminal:
    prompt> nicl -raw /Volumes/<imagevol>/var/db/netinfo/local.nidb -delete /users/<admin>
    prompt> rm -r /Volumes/<imagevol>/Users/<admin>
    prompt> rm /Volumes/<imagevol>/var/db/.AppleSetupDone
    19) Shut down and ship it to your buyer. When they get it, it will boot to the Welcome screen just like a factory Mac, except that it's better because it's completely up to date.
