If I get an iTouch... at work can I sync my calendar and email via the USB?

I won't have WiFi available at work, but can I update my iTouch and emails when syncing at work to both Gmail and Gmail calendard? How has anyone dealt with this at work? Thanks in advance for any experience or ideas.

  • ActiveSync only works for Contacts, not for Calendars and Email

So it seems that the ActiveSync is only working partially for me... When syncing with our company's OWA, my Contacts sync fine (though some create duplicates). However, the Calendar doesn’t sync at all, and the Email only syncs the folder structure, but none of the emails in them. When I attempt to sync the individual folders it gives me the same error message - “connection to the server failed”. This is a bit puzzling, as it is able to connect to the server just fine to get the contacts and the email folders.
I have already talked to the resident geniuses at the apple store and the exchange admin people - all are clueless... And did I mention, we don't have IT dept. to fix this... Please let me know if anyone is experiencing a similar problem or can suggest a way to fix it...
    Many thanks.

I am also having this problem. I was on 2.0.1 with the original iphone and had activesync working just fine. Contacts, calendars and email were all working.
On Friday I made the critical mistake of deciding to upgrade to 2.0.2. My phone was a brick for a little more than a day. I finally seemed to figure out the magical incantations required to get it restored and syncing with itunes (it was in a loop of only wanting to restore my phone).
Since getting it back into a relatively normal mode of operating on 2.0.2 I have not been able to get push email via ActiveSync working (it was working fine, no changes on the Exchange side of things). The only thing that changed was my upgrading to 2.0.2.
Since then I am back to the pre-2.0 email capabilities (I can create a seperate account on the phone and make imap work, but I don't get push with that).
I sure hope Apple is reading this and taking steps to correct it. I have no idea how to restore my phone to the way it was before I made the mistake of upgrading to 2.0.2 I should just have waited for 2.1

You cannot accidentally download Mavericks. You have to select to download it. You can always erase your drive and reinstall from the backup you made before you installed Mavericks.

  • How can I sync only Calendars and Contacts on my work PC

Previous versions of the iCloud control panel allowed me to select separately which items I wanted to sync with a PC, Calendars, Contact, Email.
The new version of the control panel has this bundled as a single choice.
How can I eliminate incuding mail?
I am trying to use this on a work PC to keep calendars and contacts in sync, but cannot include iCould email.  If I cannot eliminate just the email will need to remove all syncing (defeating the purpose of the cloud).

You might wait until the next Mavericks to see if iTunes syncing for contacts and calendars is restored.  Otherwise, you can either install OS X server to restore local syncing (see https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/os-x-server/id714547929), or start syncing your calendars and contacts with another service such as Google/Gmail.

  • Since I down loaded Mavericks I can't sync calendars with iPhone. How can I sync iPhone calendar and Mac calendar

Since I downloaded Mavericks on my Mac I can't sync calendars with iphone. How can I sync iphone calendars with Mac calendar?

    Mavericks syncs Calendar via iCloud.
Make sure you have the same iCloud account set up on your mac and your iPhone.
In System Preferences > iCloud, make sure the Calendars checkbox is checked.
In System Preferences > Internet Accounts, iCloud should be an account in the box on the left, and Calendars should be checked in the box on the right. If you have other calendars, for example, from work, make sure those are enabled too.
Check the same settings on your iPhone: in Settings > iCloud, make sure the same iCloud account info is present and that the Calendars slider is on. in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, make sure the iCloud account is present, and that the Calendars slider is on.

  • Can I sync to Mac AND PC at the same time.

This is probably a long shot, but can I synchronise my contacts and calendar my iPhone 3G to BOTH my home Mac (Address Book and iCal) AND my PC at work (Outloook)?
    Thanks

Actually, this is not entirely accurate. If your work email is carried on an Exchange server, you can set up the mail account so that it is pushed to the iPhone, and likewise with the Calendar and Contacts. (Not sure yet if you can sync both the Outlook calendar AND iCal, or the Outlook contacts AND Address Book, although I doubt it.) However, even if you choose to sync email, etc. through Exchange, you can sync your music on a Mac through iTunes.

  • Can i sync an ipad and iphone on the same computer

I've got an iPhone 3GS and am thinking of getting an iPad 2 as well.  How does syncing the 2 devices on the same computer work?  Also, can I share Apps that I have purchased across the 2 devices, or do you have to pay for them twice?

I am syncing my iPad and my iPod Touch using iTunes on the same computer.
It's even possible to connect both devices at the same time to iTunes.
Yes, apps are shared between devices, but only if those apps are actually able to run on both devices.
You therefore only need to buy a certain app once and use it on your two devices.
Your devices are in fact administratively attached to your Apple ID.

  • Can you share a calendar and not share the attached to do list?

I'm sharing a number of calendars with my o/h and I've got my to do lists linked in in iCal. I want to set up his to do list on his mac (so I can put lots of stuff on it, obviously) but when I open up to do's on his iCal, all my to do's are there ....
Is there any way of not sharing to do's if you share calendars? I can't find anything on it.
    thanks
    Nicole

I've done that and its a work around but the problem is I have home and work calendars and wanted to seperate out to do's for home and work....
    but thanks for the suggestion

  • Can I sync my iPad and iPhone via iCloud

Sorry if this has been answered before, but I searched and could not find a solution.
I, obviously, did not set up iOS5 correctly because I now have two sets of Contacts on my iPhone.  One is called Contacts from my Mac and the other is called from iCloud.  I guess I was confused by being able to sync over Wi-Fi and also being able to sync with iCloud (maybe).  Below is what I'd like to be able to do.  Can I?  If so, how?
My Mac runs Snow Leopard. ( I rely on too many Apps that run Rosetta to upgrade now.)  My iPhone and iPad have iOS5.  Can I sync my iPhone to my Mac using Wi-Fi?  It seems the answer is yes as long as the iPhone is plugged into a power source and both devices are on the same network.  Does the sync'ing occur in the background or do progress bars show up on the Mac and the iPhone?  Can I use a PowerMat as the power source or must it be receiving power through the doc connector?
It appears that while I can sync the iPhone to my Mac, I can still back up the iPhone to iCloud.  Is that correct?
If I do not plan to enter new data on my iPad, can the iPad be set up to receive contact and calendar updates from iCloud. i.e. iPad either pulls updates from iCloud or sync's with the iPhone data that's backed up in iCloud.
I think what I'm trying to do is have all 3 devices current without installing Lion in my Mac. I recognize that new data on the iPad will not sync to my iPhone, but that's OK.

Are iPhone and iPad both use the same Apple ID for iCloud?
    Are they both on Wi-Fi?

  • I changed my website's host and although I can access all existing mail and folders via the cpanel at my new host, my PC account now doesn't show the folders?

I had to change the details of my mail accounts to the new mail server details of the new host and also the port. All files have been deleted off the previous server.
I did have a lot of folders with emails stored and I can access these through the mail option on my new host's cpanel. However, they have disappeared from my still existing version of TB that I have running on my PC.
I did do a back up copy a few weeks ago but I don't know how to reinstall that. I also figure if it exists on the new server / host, there may be a way to 'pull them back in' to my existing profile?
Thanks in advance for any help :-)

I'd suggest to check with your service provider about their IMAP server. It's functionality may be limited, or you may need to configure something on the server.

  • HT1386 Is it true that I can no longer sync my calendar and contacts via cable but have no option other than iCloud?

Thought something was wrong with my iMac, but found that the new OS will no longer allow me to sync contacts and my calendar with my iPhone unless I do it with iCloud.  Do not want to sync remotely and am disappointed that there seems to be no option.  Hoping I read the help (sic) message wrong.

  • Can i sync my domain based IMAP via iCloud??

i have ten email addresses a iphone a laptop and a desktop.
when i have to redo these (for instance moving to a new host) i have to re-enter 9 entries per account on my iphone and 8 entries on each device. this ends up being something like 250 entries.
i happen to have a rather long domain for one of these addresses but i have gotten sort of slick and sneaky with copying and editing when i do this. that said, i have started to wonder if i am doing make work.
can i sync my IMAP based email accounts if i click on iCLOUD when i enter these email accounts instead of clicking on OTHER? i mean, is there some way to SYNC these email settings or otherwise to export or port them??
    TIA

Not without entering them all, iCloud only syncs iCloud addresses.

  • Can't hotsync my calendar and contacts now

I got my Centro (Verizon) two days ago and it worked great.  I received both my comcast email and my EAS email from work.  I did one hotsync at home two days ago without any errors, but once I went into work and the centro started a wireless sync to our email network everything changed. My personal contacts and calendar are now on my Microsoft Outlook 2003 at work and the centro won't hotsync them to my outlook 2002 on my personal computer.  I have done just about eveything I could think of.  I did a hard reset, set up both my email accounts again and got a few things to hotsync to Outlook 2002 at home, but the contacts and calendars just won't.  There is no error.  They just aren't listed in the hotsync log on the device.  I checked the conduits in the hotsync manager.  Every thing is checked. I have changed settings, such as set as default, but it just wont sync them. I am at a loss, hoping that my company's IT people can help. Any suggestions? Thanks, Linda
PS. My IT person is telling me that my Centro won't hot sync via the cable now that I have used my company's EAS. So, how do I undo this?

Zane(Thu Aug 14 14:30:57 PDT 2008)>Setting up an Exchange Active Sync (EAS) account on your Smartphone lets you sync your Calendar, Contacts, and Email over the air.
Because this type of account in VersaMail performs all of its synchronization over the air, HotSync conduits for Calendar and Contacts are disabled, to avoid duplicates when you sync through your USB cable.
After you set up the EAS account, and HotSync your device twice, the calendar and Contacts conduits will be disabled; they will only update on your Smartphone through an over-the-air sync.
Zane(Thu Aug 14 14:31:35 PDT 2008)>If you’d like to switch back to synchronizing your Calendar and Contacts through the USB HotSync cable, you will not be able to use over-the-air Exchange ActiveSync. You'll need to delete the Exchange ActiveSync account from your Smartphone; since this will also disable email synchronization for the Exchange ActiveSync account, you may not want to do this.
Steve_Lloyd(Thu Aug 14 14:33:54 PDT 2008)>actually,that is what i want, because the over the air mail sync is my old work e-mail

  • Can sync  to mac and windows with the same device

I just bought my partner an iphone, and he wants to know if once activated through itunes, will the phone sync to any computer regardless of the operating system as long as itunes is installed. We have Macs at home but he has windows in the office.

iphonecuty...I connect & sync my iPhone with an iMac at home and a Windows PC at work. However, the work PC only syncs my calendar and contacts; all of the iTunes content is synched only from the iMac. Works fine this way.
