Ask your retailer. At worst, you can sell your iPhone 5 independently (of Apple and your retailer) and separately purchase the later model.

Apple offers an out of warranty or not covered under the warranty "repair" price, which pays for an exchange at a discounted price off the full retail sales price.

I have a fully functioning iPhone 4S in mint condition apart some water marks on screen (dropped in bath) everything works perfectly as it should. I wish to exchange and pay the difference for an iphone 5s. Is this possible from the apple store (uk) how much do they normally give as a trade in and how much do they charge for an iphone 5s. The only thing Apple will do for you is an out of warranty exchange, & you will get EXACTLY what you have now. The cost will be US $199. Make an appointment at any Apple store.

First off, let me say, I really love my Galaxy Note 3 -- it is an awesome Smartphone... Unfortunately, I am one of the users of the problematic Note 3s... I got the phone and it worked great for about the first week I had it (I got it outside of the area where I live)... then I got it home... I usually have a good 4G signal at home -- inside and out.
My office is literally just on the other side of my college campus (less than a mile away)... I go from a good 4G signal to no signal in my office, with the exception of about a 1 foot square section on my desk where I can get 1x, and occasionally 4G. I worked with the support team on Twitter and was sent a new SIM card, and that seemed to help unfil a few weeks ago.
Every other Verizon 4G phoen I have seen at my office almost always has at least 2 bars of 4G... If not 4G, then it will have a perfect 3G signal. (To compare, I upgraded from the iPhone 4, which never had a problem getting a 3G signal anywhere)... I would expect the Note 3 would at least keep some kind of a signal in an area where everybody's 3G signal is nearly perfect.... At the local walmart, I can barely get a signal outside, and you can forget it inside... (Ironically, there's a verizon store at this shopping center as well... when I walk in the verizon store, my phone magically switches back to a decent 4G signal...)
Ideally, I'd take new Note 3 that doesn't have this problem, or I could upgrade to the Note 3 Developers Edition that also doesn't have this issue. I really love the Note 3 and would prefer to stay with the Note 3...
How can I work with you guys to make this happen?

I appreciate yawl following up with me -- this is the first time I have actually been able to get signed into my community account in a while.
I did managed to get some help out of the Twitter support team and they sent me another phone. My second phone (the one I just received a couple of weeks ago now) definitely worked better for a few days and then went bad again. I am beginning to wonder if the PRL needs to be updated... Unfortunately, I do not remember what the original PRL was when I first turned the phone on. But I know that it is on 15296 now.
I am back to having to leave my phone sitting in one particular spot in my office where it has any kind of signal. I go back to my original question -- since I have had so many problem with this phone, can I upgrade to the Note 3 Developers Edition and just pay the difference?

To return an iOS product requires a valid receipt. You have 30 days to return an iPhone. The iPhone must have all original packaging & accessories and be in new condition. Apple may charge a restocking fee on a returned iPhone.
If the iPhone was bought from a 3rd party, their regulations for returns would apply. -

I forgot to mention that I live in Northern Ireland but will be flying from Dublin in the Republic of Ireland so I'm not sure that this will be an issue as I don't hold an Irish passport, therefore how can they charge me their form of VAT? i run a commercial recording studio since 2009 and purchased a mac pro quad core with os x 10.5.8 and record with protools, it has now got to the point where i can no longer purchase plugins for protools because the operating system is to old i need at least snow leopard ,i have never upgraded and am concerned about losing any previous protools sessions and plugins ,it has been suggested to me to upgrade just one of the hardrives to snow leopard or lion or the latest system and then just open a protools session on the old osx hardrive and save to the new upgraded hardrive , is this possible? or has anyone any suggestions ,many thanks
You should seriously consider establishing a Boot drive, with only System, Library, Applications, and the hidden unix files (including Paging/Swap) on it. User files are moved off to another drive.
This makes maintaining the System and maintaining your User files much easier, and it makes your Mac faster in every way.

If the iPhone is an authorised unlock ( approved by the carrier) or was
purchased from Apple as an unlocked iPhone updating the iOS
will have no effect on the iPhone and it's lock status
HOWEVER if the software has been tampered with to remove the lock,
updating the iOs will lock the iPhone back to the original carrier who holds the lock
To find out the status of your iPhone you could call Apple support
and they may tell you if the iPhone is locked or not and if it is which carrier -

1.) getting the mini or nano sim has been impossible _ in Sweden, Norway and Denmark the carriers I worked with have the old sim cards that they suggest that you trim down to nano size. The one I tried was still too thick to fit in the sim card drawer on my iphone 5.
2.) Verizon was very cooperative and unlocked my phone before I left the USA.
3.) The Verizon plan may be competitive with plans that cover multiple countries in Europe. The pricing is sufficiently confusing that providers are hard to compare, ie. initial plan / sim card purchase amout, voice, data, text send / receive rates, varying monthly or package amounts of mintes and data allowances.
4.) Keeping cellular data off, using wi-fi has mostly kept cellular data usage low, with a few exceptions resulting from data use for either google or i maps and a probable butt-call or mistaken program left on without wi-fi.
5.) I am still going to check out France's rate, but I won't report more if the story stays the same.

Dear Apple...I know time marches on but unfortunately you have become useless to those of us who can't upgrade systems or afford Iphones. So my itunes is totally unavailalbe since ipods can't work w/Itunes 9, so all the $ I spent is out the window! I have been an apple mac user since the Blue Tower in early 2000. The fact that I recently replace a stolen Ipod Classic and it isn't compatible w/iTunes9 is really screwed up. You have failed many!

Has anyone else had an iPhone 5 that's only been dropped once accidentally and smashed the screen? Mine has done that and as I don't have mobile insurance it'll cost a fortune to replace it through Apple!! I don't think the phone is fit for purpose as any other phone i've had has been dropped and been fine and surely they expect a mobile to be accidentally dropped at least once!!

If you dropped it on concrete- that is the hardest material and chance of damage goes up tremedously. Actually you are fortunate not to have mobile insurance because then you have to trust your insurance provider to provide you with a quality replacement or repair.
Apple is always spot-on you know what you're getting. They can always attempt to replace JUST the display on an iPhone 5 for $149 + tax is what I've heard them quote others. But they said it's $229 to replace your phone with another whole new iPhone 5. Get the AppleCare+ because two of these incidents will only cost you $49 + tax in the future!
