Update for alan... Other apps can see And work with PowerPoint stuff on the pad. I use quickoffice hd, and I think docs to go does as well. All of them will have issues with some power point feature, but they will work to some degree.

Agree on cables, you don't want something generic when it comes to thunderbolt in my experience. It's thos accessories that add up and they are profitable for a reason. Cheap isn't always good with accessories.

thank youIf you buy an App in the Mac App Store, it will not run on your iPad. If you buy an iPad App on your Mac via iTunes, you can sync that to your iPad, but you can't run that on your Mac. You will have to buy 2 versions to run it on both.

There really is nothing more to say than what Allan has already said, but to explain just a little further, what you may have read is that once you purchase an iOS app in the app store, you do not have to purchase it again if you need to download it to another iOS device. In other words once you buy the app, you can load it onto unlimited iPhones, iPod Touches or iPads.
You must be using the same iTunes account that you originally purchased the app with in order to download it again. But as Allan said, just because you have it on your Mac does not entitle you to download it free to your iPad. -

No. They will remain on the Mac. That's one of the reasons why it's a good idea to import your treasured photos. If something happens to the iPad, you still have your photos.

Will I need to purchase iWork for my iPad if I purchase an iPhone 5s? Everybody knows the iPhone 5s with IOS7 gives iWork for free. I assume that if I buy an iPhone 5s (or 5c) then iWork would be listed as a "purchased" app in my itunes store under my account. My iPad retina is in the same account... or are keynote, pages, and numbers completely seperate between ipad and iphone? I know they would be a seperate purchase for my Powerbook. I purchased a Seagate 3T HD for my MacBook Pro but only Windows are listed on the box (the Seagate site listed Mac) will it work???
Most external drives are formatted for Windows; you should be able to format it for Mac. Plug it in, open Disk utility, highlight the drive and choose the Partition tab. Do not worry about any software on the drive - you don't need it and it will be erased. In the partition tab, choose how many you want, name them, choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and, under the Options button, choose GUID partition scheme. Hit Apply. The drive will be erased and formatted. If that process does not work, contact Seagate and inquire about the Mac compatibility.

Lion - 2004 MS Office for Mac will not work
My 2004 version of Microsoft Office for Mac will not work in Lion. I suspect because this is a PowerPC application. My question is this:
Is there any program out there which will map the PowerPC to an Intel format? Other than trying to seel more products, I am surprised that Apple does not supply a mapping program for products made by Microsoft for the Apple devices.Eric, can you tell me where please? Need to know your Mac model. If it's a PowerPC, the max OS is Leopard 10.5.x. If it's an Intel procesor, you can upgrade to Snow Leopard (for $29) & later to Lion.

My IPad cannot download live Tv from skygo. I have no problem with my lap top so I assume the broad band is okay. Can anybody suggest why the live streaming will not work on my iPad .
Are you using the Sky Go app to try and watch it ? If so are you logged in with your Sky account ?
If you are using the app then you could try closing the app completely and see if it works when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Sky Go 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Sky Go app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -

She is making in app purchases. Probably not knowing what that means to your monthly credit card bill. Use the Settings app to enable restrictions and turn on restrictions for iTunes, App Store and in app purchases, mabe some others too. The restrictions will be set with a passcode to prevent your daughter from changing them.
