If I have photo stream on, can I delete my photos on camera roll and still have the photos?
I Need more room on my phone. I have a lot of photos and I have photo stream on. if I delete all my photos in camera roll, will I still be able to keep the photos in photo stream? My phone is not backed up to a computer, and I don't want to risk losing the photos.

New to Time Machine. The HD on my Mac Air is full so I got an external HD and using TM to back up everything.
Can I erase all files (pictures, docs, etc) from my Mac and still have access to those files through Time Machine?That is a bad idea. Time Machine is strictly a backup utility. What you describe will require archiving files, which Time Machine is not designed to accomplish.
Once you erase files from your MacBook Air, they will eventually be erased from your Time Machine backup. This is by design, as Time Machine will eventually fill your backup volume and will delete old files as required. Depending on when they were first backed up and how long they existed on your MBA before you erase them, they could disappear in as little as one hour.
Use Carbon Copy Cloner or equivalent "clone" utility and configure it to archive files that do not exist on the source, or simply copy them over manually using the Finder. You can then delete them from your MBA. Bear in mind that once you do that, you no longer have a backup copy. The only copies will exist on the external HD. -

You can't. It doesn't work that way.
the new album that you created doesn't contain a copy of the actual photo. It contains a pointer to that photo. If you delete it from the camera roll, you will delete it from the album that you created as well. Albums that you create on the iPad in the Photos app are for local organization only and cannot be transfer or imported to your computer, because there really are no photos in those albums -
Open pictures in Camera RAW and still have paths/clipping paths?

A big problem in Bridge is that I can not open my pictures in Camera RAW and still have my paths left. I work in a place where we get loads of product photos from many different companies and they almost always have a clipping path in it. Many of the pictures do we have to fix like colour, exposure etc and this is here Bridge comes in as the best solution to batchfix them. But now I have to take the long way through Photoshop. Is there a solution for this?, an update from Adobe or a script or something.

These are the settings I've chosen. Done this way, JPEGs and TIFFs just open right into Photoshop, and their clipping paths would be intact.

When I plug in my ipod I can only get pics from my camera roll. Its like the other pics are not even there. I am afraid if I sync it to my computer I will erase all these picture. There are over 2500 pics of my family and kids. I loaded them from my Adobe photoshop 5 software.
You can't download pictures from iCloud by logging into icloud.com. If you deleted pictures from camera roll AND photo stream, the only possibility is preforming a restore from an iCloud backup, assuming the backup has the pictures in it. (Many users have been unable to restore and get back their pictures.)
If the restore doesn't have all the pictures, then they are gone.
In the future, use photo stream to sync photos from an iPhone to a computer, then copy the photos on the computer from the photo stream album into a permanent album. Photo stream pics stay there only for 30 days, and only up to 1000 photos are stored. Don't use photo stream as a storage medium, it's only for copying photos from one device to another. Always copy (either via USB cable or photo stream) to a computer and then move to an album. -

Have tried unsuccessfully the left swipe and pressing the red delete. No change.The only problem is I have only 1.6GB available and need 3.7 to update to the iOS7. I also have 2.6GB in the "Other" catagory. How do I access the "Others" area in iTunes in order to see what is there and what I might be able to delete in order to create the amount of space needed. I have over 1000 photos in my camera roll, and I have saved them to my computer. Is there an easy way to delete some or all of them to clear out space on my iPhone?
The quick way is when you imprort them to an app on your computer, usually there is the option to delete everything on the phone that was imported. If you declined that option, then you have to do it one by one or manualy select in edit mode.

You can't, when you 'copy' a photo into an album that you've created directly on the iPad then you are effectively just creating a pointer to the photo and not creating a second copy of it - so if you then delete the original photo from your iPad you will also be deleting all pointers to it and therefore removing it from other albums.

i have question about hooking up an external hdd to a time capsule and still have my printer hooked up as well. Anyone got any tips for me, how to do it and what brand of harddrive that will work best for me 1 or 2 TB
You just need a powered hub.. if you already use one then fine.
Plug in just about any external hard disk will work fine. Format has to be readable by the TC.. ie fat32.. or much better HFS+.. plug it into a Mac to prepare the drive.
Pick whatever size suits.. nowadays 2TB are most economical.
WD, Seagate have goobled up all the minor players.. so pick one.
Whatever suits your budget and asthetics.
NOTE.. The USB on the TC is fine for printers.. IMHO it is the wrong way to go with USB disks.. use the internal disk of the TC.. USB is less than half the native speed plugged into a Mac.. TC to USB is slow.. far slower than internal drive.. or using external drive as external. -

But a better way to manage your photos would be best. Use Camera Roll for new photos only like we used to do with the old film cameras. Once your Photos are organized into iPhoto on your Mac sync them back to the iPhone through iTunes. The photos in the Photo Library on the iPhone are not included with the iOS Backup since they should be already backed up in the computer's backups. -

You don't need to delete photos from your camera roll to save on backup sizes, you can turn individual items on and off for back up in your iCloud back up settings.
Apple States that the last 3 back ups are accessible, which means the photos from your back up may not be removed immediately.
Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.

Hello, I am out of internal storage on my Iphone 4 ALREADY (Just purchased 3 months ago!). I need to clear up some space so I can do updates and take new photos. I was thinking about backing up my Photo Stream to the icloud and then deleting my Camera Roll.
1.) Is this a terrible idea??? I do NOT want to lose those photos! But I NEED more space on my phone!
2.) Will deleting Camera Roll free up space (a sufficient amount? My Camera Roll is at 4.5 GB)?
3.) Will deleting Camera Roll delete my photos from Photo Stream also? It doesn't seem to.

This is one of the most ridiculous, confusing and unnessacary things I've ever known! Why oh why can't we just have a good ol' SD Card??? (My Droid never ever ran out of storage and I had it for 2 years...)
I tried backing up my photos in Itunes, but I don't have a new enough version. I tried downloading a new itunes and it still tells me I don't have the new version.

However, you can do the tedious task of moving your camera roll pictures to photo stream by ensuring photo stream is turned on for your device and take a screen shot of each picture in your camera roll to move it over.
To take a screen shot, just press the "Home Button" and the "Sleep/Wake Button" at the same time while viewing the image.
