If I install XP Pro-SP2 do I need to install the AMD64 CPU driver?

I thought I read somewhere that the XP with SP2 disc now comes with the AMD64 CPU driver. Is this true and if so do I forgo installing the AMD Athlon 64 Processor Driver v1.1.0.18?
thanx

I want to install XP Pro SP2 on a Mac Mini from a 2003 RIS server. Is this possiIble? How is it done?
The mac has 10.5 which has bootcamp to enable Windows install. I have created a partition but the bootcamp utility asks for a CD. I want to install a RIS build. The Mac has a option for network boot but this seems to only work with Mac Server. I assume the network adapter is not PXE compatible and so a boot disk of some kind will be needed to kick this off?.

Hallo, I installed the program as you said. Everything ok.

  • Re: Installing WinXP Pro SP2 / Boot Camp - Drive Bay 2 - which partition?

I am stuck and I can't seem to find the answer through Google searches.
I have a Mac Pro and I am working on installing WinXP Pro SP2 on a second SATA drive. It is a 500gb drive by Western Digital and it happens to be the same size as the Mac OSX drive - 500gb.
Because they are alike in size I can't tell which is which in the installer. Here are my options:
    476938mb Drive
    H: Partition 1 (Unknown) - 476938 free
    476938mb Drive
    I: Partition 1 (Unknown) - 200mb free
    C: Partion 2 (Unknown) - 476938 free
My guess is to install WinXP on the H: partition and I just want to confirm this as I don't really wish to wipe out my MacOS on the drive in Bay 1.
Can anyone confirm this? I wished this was addressed in the Boot Camp Installation Guide. They only address one drive that is partitioned, not two seperate drives. Also nothing listed shows up with the label BOOTCAMP.
    Thanks in advance.
    Rob

    Pull your OS X drive.
XP and Vista 32-bit only give you 1.9GB of RAM.
If you don't need native access or 3D you might just want to later use it with Fusion, VirtualBox or Parallels.
Apple uses GPT (GUID) which creates those small 200MB and 128MB partitions you see that are essential.
For me, I would just format the drive as MBR, and FAT/MSDOS or if you have NTFS from MacFUSE or Paragon, format as NTFS (preferable), and pull OS X and then install.

After recently installing itunes on my new PC running windows 8, the CD/DVD drives no longer works, gives a code 19 message. Seems itunes is impacting the registry of the DVD drive. What is best solution to keep running itunes normally in the future & get the CD/DVD drive working again? if I delete the upper / lower registry keys what other functions are impacted? I see others say itunes asks for a reinstall...then same problem all over again! THX

Have you revieved this support document?

Old saying applies here most of the time......
"If it ain't broken, don't fix it"
I choose to use LP9 with Snow Leopard myself (10.6.8 and 9.1.6) for most of my commercial work simply because I find that combo very stable and provides the best overall performance for my setups here... but I am also using LPX with Mavericks as part of my client support and that works fine too although with a drop in performance due to the heavier demands made on the hardware by the newer OS X and LPX graphic routines for example..

Well first time for everything but I am at a loss. everything is new Board is new, chip is a Athlon64 X2 3800, 1 gig DDR Ultra, ATI 1650 pro PCIE, 2 WD250 SATA in Raid 1 jumpered to 150 mode. 1 DVDRW Samsung as master on the ide bus and of course a floppy. Bios version 5.1
Bios is set with Sata to RAID

I post with no issues, can get into the bios, will even go as far as a stop because of no operating system loaded if I let it.
But if I try to install windows XP Pro SP2 Windows stops at -
     Setup is Inspecting your configuration
    I have:
Removed and replaced all parts individually with reboots after each step with the same result
Replaced all parts (except the CPU and MB) individually with the same result ( yes I had spares)
Removed the vid card and run with on board VGA with the same result
followed the steps on the MS website dealing with the issue with the same results - Bios was already at 5.1 so could not update
I am unsure what other options i have left at this point
    Kind regards

Get a decent PSU with single rail, that means only one +12V line on the PSU, and to have high amperes on the 12V line 30A or more are recommended.

  • N9A2 Platinum, Installing XP Pro, SP2, Cannot find SATA Hard Drives

I am lost here.  I cannot get the bios to recognize the HDs as SATA drives, and XP Pro does not find the HDs (of course), and I do not know why.  Do I need a SATA driver floppy for the Install Win drivers <f6> ?  I thought not from the other threads here.  I am not using Raid.
I have downloaded and read the manual from the support site, Support knowledgebase and every thread that I could find here in this forum.
My setup is the N9A2 Platinum, V1.
    Bios v 1.4, 3/112/08
    Phenom X3 720
    Ultra 750W power Supply
    Seagate 500GB SATA HD
WD 80GB SATA HD (for Photoshop scratch drive)
My Bios is set up as follows>
    Integrated Peripherals
      Extra RAID Controller - Disabled
      On-Chip ATA Devices
          PCI IDE Busmaster - Enabled
          RAID mode           - IDE
OK, Any ideas?  You folk have a lot more experience with me.  Thanks for all/any help.

Ports 5 and 6 ,the red ones ,are for the Promise Extra RAID controller ,which as per BIOS settings was turned off  ,thats why the HDD was not detected .You can use that Promise controller with HDD-s ,even if they are not in RAID config ,but drivers are required.
    Glad i could help you!

    2*512MB corsair and no name
    ATI radeon 9200
HDD maxtor 200GB and HDD samsung 200GB
The mainboard offer 2 sata controller, but i can't success to install windows on,
    1) If I use the promise fasttrack sata controller :
I boot from my xp installing CD, hit F6 and load the drivers from the floppy drivers, I choose where installing xp, and when he start to copy the data he ask again the ftsata2.sys load from the previous floppy disk drivers, and here he refuses to copy the file(but he is accessing to the floppy).
I'm stuck here because without this ftsata2.sys files he refuses to continue the process.
    2) If I use the VIA sata raid driver :
first, he found only one HDD the maxtor.
I boot from my xp installing CD, hit F6 and load the drivers from the floppy drivers, but there the process stop because he cannot found the HDD.

    Yep, I agree.
But: what are you trying to set up? Are you trying some RAID with these drives? If so, it is preferable to use two disks that are the same size (you have that) but also the same make and model.
I'm just trying to install windows xp sp2. I don't use any raid settings.

  • Installed 9800 Pro Radeon are drivers need?

    Greetings Apple Discussions:
Just installed a PC flashed 128MB 9800 Pro Radeon, Zalman VF700 VGA cooler and upgraded the stock PSU to 450W. Everything went well. I also have a PCI slot exhaust cooler.
I am considering using Thomas Perrier's AtIccelerator II to reasonably increase the processor & memory frequencies.
    http://thomas.perrier.name/index.html
The stock processor & memory frequencies read as (processor 351MHz)(Memory 324MHz). How much is a safe increase from these values?
Also do I need to update the ROM drivers?
    http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/mac/macosx10-4x-3x-radeon.html
    I am running Leopard 10.5.2
I would appreciate if anyone could help me with these issues.

    Hi again-
The Zalman will do a good job of keeping the 9800 cool. I have a Zalman 900Cu on a 9800 (in a GE), and the card never shows any sign of heat related problems.
I set mines to 389 and 344 respectively. Everything appears cool.
Stability and reasonable temperatures, no artifacts, that's what you need. Like I said, all chips are a bit different, so the limit is only found through trial and error. With the cooling mods, you won't need to worry about the heat killing the card.
How useful is the ATI Displays Panel?
If you want to rotate the display, the display control panel will support this. Also, the extension allows scaling, controls for the S-video, and Open GL overides for gaming. It is worth having in your system.
that the intake vent holes behind the case fan were clogged with dust/lint. I could only clean these vent holes thoroughly by removing the case fan. I am assuming these are intake holes.
Yes, those are intake holes. The air comes in through a gap at the bottom of the acrylic side panel, then through the holes in the steel case. They can get really nasty, so it's good to keep an eye on them. Also, good to keep dust buildup around/under the Tower to a minimum.

  • Any way to install QT pro 7 without a FCS 2 install?

I have 10.6.8.  I had to do a recent os clean install and do not intend to reinstall my fcs 2 suite.  However, I would like to have qt pro instead of qt 7 player.  Anyway to install qt pro from fcs disc set or serial number? Also do not want to pay for an upgrade of course.

I upgraded my iBook G4 from 384MBytes to 640Mbytes and upgraded from Tiger to Leopard.
After a few weeks the HDD failed. I bought a new disk, installed it and trued to install Leopard, but the  install fails reporting "insufficient memory".
I assume the installation requires more memory than the OS actually needs to be able to run.
I need Tiger install CD/DVD so I can install Tiger first and then upgrade to Leopard.

Call Apple Customer Support 1-800-767-2775, provide the Serial Number and specifications of the Mac, and for a reasonable fee, they will supply a replacement set of system discs (if available).
The discs will be for the original version of the OS that was pre-installed when the Mac was manufactured.
You need much more RAM than that.

  • Re: I need to change the CD/DVD drive in my Satellite Pro P200

    Hi,
I need to change the DVDRW unit in my Satellite Pro P200, but I'dont know extract the old unit.
    Anybody help me??
    Thanks.
(Sorry for my english :S ).

To remove the optical drive module, you need to remove the battery and secondary HDD cover first.
In the middle of the bottom cover you would find an black screw which secures the CD/DVD drive.
This screw has to be removed.
In the secondary HDD bay you will find an bracket.
Use your hand to push the module bracket and then slide the module from the bay.
    Thats all!
But once again; be careful and if you have no experience, get in contact with an notebook technician!

  • Error message when installing XP PRO SP2 on MAC PRO

I have used BootCamp Assistant (in Leopard 10.5.1) to create a Windows partition on an internal 500GB disk (not the one with OSX on it). When I put in the install disk it starts loading everything in preparation and when it gets to "Starting Windows" I get this message on the typical Windows blue screen:
    XXX STOP: 0x0000007E (0XC0000005, 0XF748E0BF, 0XF78DA208, 0XF78D9F08)

I have unplugged everything except for the Studio Display and am using wireless keyboard and mouse.
Please, please advise because I need to use my community colleges online course material but they don't support MAC and this is the perfect answer for me to not have to buy another computer! I'm a die-hard MAC user but I must say thanks in advance!

It comes up saying error in boot camp installer and then a window comes up saying the installer finished and did not complete (or words to that effect). I have copied the latest bootcamp installer updates to a usb pen and tried to run the file then but it doesn't seem to work. Frustrating thing is that all runs fine in vm ware fusion
