If i leave my macbook pr pluged to the power would it get damaged?

If i leave my macbook pro retina late 2013 pluged to the power a long time would the battery it get damaged?
Or the power goes directly to the computer. If so ? how many time do you recommend to leave it pluged to the power ?
Thanks.

If you keep you computer plugged in always, battery health will diminish.
Run it on battery couple of hours a day. Battery needs "exercise" to keep battery in optimum condition.

You need to reinstall OS X:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

iPhone 4S is not charging. Upon connecting to macbook air, it gives the power surge alert. Please help.

What do you mean by "power surge alert"? What exactly does it say when you try to connect it? If you're talking about the message about a USB device drawing too much power, that can sometimes be caused by a bad cable or something stuck in the port. Do you have another cable you can try?

• Is it ok to leave a macbook charger plugged into the outlet at all times?

Even while not charging?

Your battery will last longer before needing replacement if you let the battery work once a week or so. Think of it as a muscle: if not used. it begins to die.
Please see these Apple recommendations for battery maintenance:
http://www.apple.com/batteries/notebooks.html
especially the section, "Standard Maintenance" (my emphasis added):
For proper maintenance of a lithium-based battery, it’s important to keep the electrons in it moving occasionally. Apple does not recommend leaving your portable plugged in all the time. An ideal use would be a commuter who uses her notebook on the train, then plugs it in at the office to charge. This keeps the battery juices flowing. If on the other hand, you use a desktop computer at work, and save a notebook for infrequent travel, Apple recommends charging and discharging its battery at least once per month. Need a reminder? Add an event to your desktop’s iCal.
I take my MBP with me once a week to my volunteer job at a museum. When things are slow I use my computer on battery. That way I know I get the electrons moving at least once a week.
There are many posts here that start with, "I don't understand why my battery went bad after only a year, I never use the battery"

• Macbook pro boots past the apple logo then gets stuck on white screen

I have a macbook pro that won't boot all the way. When I turn it on it will go to the apple logo, and proceed past it then get stuck on a white screen. If you leave it on this white screen after a little while a grey ribbon will come across the top with little white squares and rectangles. The picture comes up like this (not sure if this will work) http://s863.photobucket.com/albums/ab198/helmerfan/?action=view&current=9F4716F1 -3DE1-4799-A87A-9E8E5E918EF2-3530-00000378A8CDCED1.jpg#!oZZ5QQcurrentZZhttp%3A%2 F%2Fs863.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fab198%2Fhelmerfan%2F%3Faction%3Dview%26curre nt%3D60350C7C-C4F6-4040-A081-388B54FF77ED-2239-00000184408A3AD1.jpg
I took the hard drive out and tried to start it up with just the os x disk, and still got the same thing. I took the disk out and the hard drive out and then got the folder with the question mark. Someone said that it sounded like a graphics card issue, and if you all agree do you think that that would be something that a reflow would fix? Thanks for the input guys.

• I want to sell my old macbook air, what is the best way to get my files and programs off of it?

I am going to sell my macbook air (2011) as I am replacing it with a macbook pro retina. I want to remove my files and programs from it before I sell it. What is the best way to go about this?

1) Perform a Time Machine or Cloned image backup of your system.
2) Test the Clone tomake sure it works, by booting to it (using the option key).
3) Boot to the Recovery Partition, then perform an erasure, followed by a reinstallation of the OS.
4) Shut off the Mac, after instllation and before the reboot. This will permit the next user to experience a "fresh out of the box" experience.
5) Use the Time Machine or Cloned image to migrate your apps, users & files to your new system, using SETUP ASSISTANT. Do not use Migration Assistant.

• My 2006 macbook just went dead, the power strip adaptor says it's fully charged (green) but the screen is black any suggestions?

can any help?

the same thing happened to me and after the multiple tech steps to revive a dead beast....i went to the genius bar at my nearest apple store....the tech agreed it was a faulty motherboard as i was getting NO power to even the keyboard. we also tried a firewire target disk mode to see if i can even access the HD. we took out the HD to verify that the data was still in fact intact. but oddly enough nothing happened. to give some insight i was importing video from my mini DV cam and it didi a semi kernel panic greey screen shut down and never came back up
the funny thing was, i ended up helping other people who were coming in for service while they were working on mine...6 people in all...and when i left, some of the people still waiting were saying where's the genius going? LOL!
i pray they will upgrade my logicboard to the SR chipset one.....i want i want i want an early xmas present!

• If i buy a macbook pro today... Would I get lion OS for free?

I need to Get a notebook soon...

In the past. Apple would offer a reduced-cost upgrade to the new OS and send out a special disc that would only serve to upgrade your machine's installed OS, or drop said disc in with a new machine bought in the first couple months after the OS pushed out.  That's exactly what happened when I bought my '07 unit (which I'm now fixin' to sell)
With the upgrade moving to the cloud, no one is totally sure how it will work out for the "Up to Date" programs until we get there.  iLife and iWork apps are already there in the cloud (via Mac App Store).  Perhaps Apple could issue a voucher code for $10 off the update as a way of saying "thanks", which would be an epic win for all (the modern way of saying that this would be a really nice gesture).
We still haven't worked out how 10.4/10.5 stragglers (and guys, you know who you are) will get Lion, but it could be via an updated Mac Box Set.  That, presently, is $169 and covers the core of what you would get in a new machine.
This also opens up the off possibility that a Mac of the future could ship with just the OS and let the customer pull things from the App Store, which would be awesome for folks that don't want to have the iStuff like, say, medium-through-large businesses and open-source nuts, saving $100 per unit.
Just my thoughts,
Nate

• Is it better to leave my macbook plugged it.... when.... read more!

Hi guys,
do you think its better that i just leave my macbook plugged in all the time *if i can* ... or should I just use the battery whenever I feel like it? I know that your supposed to do at least one full drain with your computer at least once a month... but If i'm going from room to room and just feel like not dragging around an adapter, is it bad for the battery? or is it good becasue I'm using the battery more and keeping the parts moving and warmed up rather than just never really using it?
Like right now my battery status is "not charging" even though its not plugged in!
the only reason I like to keep it plugged in a lot is because I record music a lot, and can't really do that on a low battery power (if the macbook shuts off I could lose data)
or is all of this really that big a deal?

Hey lyssa, that does help a bit. What about how my battery drains to under 95 % even when it's plugged in... and then it charges back to 100% in like 20 minutes... is that bad for the battery, because it happens when its plugged in (it slowly drains to below 95%... will that add battery cycles onto my laptop?
That's inevitable and not particularly bad. What would be bad would be that it went down to 99% and tried to top off the charge to 100%. That would mean more attempts to charge up to 100%. It's not that you don't want it to charge up to 100%, but it's going to degrade slightly every time the battery capacity gets to 100%. Near 100% is where it generates a lot more heat and tends to degrade battery capacity the most. Taking it down below a certain capacity also seems to degrade the battery. However - if you want to actually use the battery, these are normal things and the battery is considered a replaceable part.
I won't bore you with the details, but hybrid car batteries are designed to stay between 40-75% of theoretical capacity. By avoiding the extremes of charge and discharge, they can go through hundreds of thousands of these partial charge-discharge cycles while a standard use battery might go through maybe under 1000. The overall amount of energy cycling through a hybrid car battery would be maybe 30-50 times more than a standard use battery. Of course MacBook charging system isn't designed for that kind of use.
Charging a lithium rechargeable battery is an exercise in careful management of heat generation and battery life. Some of the earlier lithium rechargeable charging systems weren't very good and didn't slow down the charge as it approached 100%. You'd get overheating batteries as well as a few that caught on fire (the Sony factory fire in the 90's took out most of the world's Li-ion battery production at the time). Fortunately lithium battery charging technology has improved to the point where fires are extremely rare.

If it was not working the Mac would not get a signal. Restart the IOS devices and reconnect to the network
