If I load cds A and B on my laptop, then synch to I touch......

I obviously will have CDs A and B on my i Touch....but if I delete album A from my laptop and synch again, will CD A still be on my I touch.

you CAN have music on your ipod that isn't in your itunes library. if you manually manage.
but as said above, it's usually better to keep music in your library, or at the very least some backup of it (if it's a physical CD it's less important, but definitely with downloads).
if it's hard drive space you're concerned about, you can keep your itunes library on an external hard drive (edit, preferences, advanced, change itunes media folder location)

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

  • My macbook was runnig slow so i turned it off using the power button i then tryed to turn it back on and it turns on stays at the load screen with the apple with the loading sign spinning and a bar under that then my mac (late 08) turns off help please

    Help please

Reinstall OS X using one of the following. The first is for Snow Leopard and the later for Lion/Mountain Lion.
Reinstall Snow Leopard without erasing the drive
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • My I pod 4th generation and when I down load my playlists off I tunes they load in reverse and I can't correct then once they are on my I pod

Since the I tunes up grade I have been unable to get my I pod and I tunes to talk to one another in a consistent positive way as they had in the past.  Sometimes when making a play list  off of my library it looks fine and in the order I need it to be but when I disconnect my I pod and I go to use it the songs are in the reverse order from what I loaded on to it.  Then too sometimes they are fine the first time I call them up on my I pod but if I go in to load another unrelated playlist then nextime I use my I pod the other lists have reversed themselves.  I then try to correct the play lists by going back and I tunes won't let me change them or they are changed when I am in I tunes but do not change on the physical I pod even though I did it through the I pod apps.  I have tried to reset and it has worked maybe twice correctly but then the same thing happens all over again.  Help It wouldn't be so bad if I was just listening to music for enjoyment but I use this I Pod in my exercise classes and beginning with the cool down and stretch music is not a real motivator.  Deknees

  • How to load CDs into old mini and transfer to new mini w/o superdrive

My current mini is a 2.5Ghz Intel Core i5, running OSX 10.9.2.  I did not purchase the external superdrive.
My older mini is late 2006, running OSX 10.6.  It has a superdrive.
Is there a way that I can load CDs into the old mini and then transfer the music to the new mini?
Both computers are on the same home network (connected to the same router), but the only thing that I can do at present is access Quicken which is on the new computer from the old computer.
I've considered copying the iTunes Library from the old computer onto a flash drive and copying that library into the new computer but it doesn't look easy to merge libraries on the new mini.
    I'd appreciate any help.
    Thanks,

You should run first Sofware Update and go to Mac OS X 10.9.5.
You can import then transfer as sugggested or you can RIP to the new computer using this...

  • I have a 2009 mac book pro.  CDs will not load in OSX - however it will load CDs in Win 7 via bootcamp.  Same with any CD or DVD.  Any ideas on what is wrong?

I have a 2009 mac book pro running 10.6.8.  I also use win 7 via boot camp.  I can load CDs and DVDs fine, when booted onto win 7 but cannot get the same dvds or cds loaded when running OSX.  So, I'm having to reboot to win 7, every time I want to import a CD into my itunes library - I load the disc in win 7, then reboot back to osx in order to import the CD into my itunes library (which i have on my OSX side).  When running OSX, everytime I try to load any CD or DVD, the drive shoots the disc right out.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance.

  • Cds appearing and dissapearing when trying to import into itunes

Please note I am posting a new thread on this as a similar one has been incorrectly labeled as answered.
When loading CDs into mac book pro initially track listing appears in itunes then disappears. Although the CD is still in the machine the computer does not recognise a mounted CD. Ejecting and re installing the CD always rectifies the problem. This does not happen every time a CD is installed but it happens frequently. Also occurs on a black mac book, and two different mac minis. This happens under Leopard, it happens under snow Leopard, it happens with at least the last three versions of itunes for mac. IT also happens with virtual CDs mounted from files using Toast. Any ideas or is this an itunes bug that apple have had outstanding for a long time?
I promise I won't mark this as answered unless it is.

I have exactly the same problem - I Tunes 9 closes down each time I try to import a cd. I run Windows XP and its the first time with any version of Itunes I've had problems importing cd. Must be a bug with the new version. Finn

  • Loading CDs into itunes

Does anyone have a problem loading, meaning that a CD just stalls and stalls.... and stalls.... then it won't eject and I have to restart to get it out?
I also have a problem sometimes with a CD that churns and churns and then I have the last song on the CD actually IN itunes but it's durations (in minutes) is triple digits???

I'm having a similar problem. With a number of regular store bought music CDs that I have tried to play with and rip into iTunes, the CD has "stalled", I guess - basically the program freezes, and then the only way that I can stop iTunes is by Force Quitting. The specific behavior of the CD drive is that it will speed up and apparently scan the CD for approximately 3 seconds and then slow down (maybe stop) for about 2 seconds, and repeat this in cycles apparently endlessly unless I Force Quit or shut down. When I use Force Quit, it indicates that iTunes is not responding. A few times that it's done this I've let it go for 10 or 12 minutes and it just continues to stall with no change. I've tried pressing the computer eject button and holding it, pausing, skipping tracks, and using a "Skip Doctor" CD repair tool to fix the CDs that I've had the problem with - nothing has worked. 2 or 3 I've hit all kinds of buttons trying to get a response, and I've come back to the computer 5 or 10 minutes later and the CD has finally paused or ejected. What has me so perplexed about this issue is that (a) I take very good care of my CDs for the most part, and (b) this is a brand new MacBook Pro, which I've also taken good care of. My mother's '98 Pontiac minivan was playing these CDs fine last summer. They played fine in my Dell that I got in 2000. I recall that these places on the CDs that it's stalling at are places where I've heard the CD skip in the past, but I've never had this problem with the CD stalling and causing the device that's playing it to become unresponsive. I can't think of anything that I've done to the CD drive or any other part of the computer that would have caused this. Please let me know what you think I might try to resolve this. Thanks.

A couple of cds play and copy as fuzzy (unlistenable) in itunes. Both are brand new cds. I have ticked the 'correct cd errors' in the preferences - still fuzzy. Other cds play and copy fine. I have the latest version of itunes and drivers etc. No other problems - just these two (so far) cds...

  • CDs spin and then eject

My PowerBook G4 has just started having problems with audio CDs. Twice in the last two days I've put in a new CD (Stephin Merritt's Showtunes and Gary Numan's Jagged) and it spins for a few seconds and just ejects. Several other CDs I tried still work fine, a DVD works fine, and I never had any problem with many hundreds of CDs before this, including ones with many forms of copy-protection.
    Things I've tried:
    - moving the CD Info.cidb file to the desktop and restarting iTunes
    - changing the system preference to just Ignore audio CDs
    - fsck -fw in single-user mode
    - repairing permissions
    - software update
None of these make any difference. The CDs spin and then eject. They never even appear on the desktop.
What else can I try? Are there any diagnostics I can run on the drive? Do unreadable-CD errors get logged somewhere?
    PowerBook G4 15" Titanium   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

It is very difficult to get OS X to not automatically mount loaded CDs. Programs like X-CD-Roast (which can be run under X11) have special scripts to prevent OS X from mounting discs, so it certainly can be done... I just don't know what's involved other than using X-CD-Roast in such a case :/
OK, I just rummaged up the following information from the xcdroast.org web site:
The finder tends to automount all CDs you insert. Then they are lost from being accessable from within X-CD-Roast. Currently the only known solution is to stop the "diskarbitrationd" daemon. (You may remember that in MacOS 10.2 (Jaguar) a simular daemon was called "autodiskmount".)
This version supports the automatic handling of the daemon. You just choose the option to disable the daemon at startup and X-CD-Roast will handle that for you.
Here is the procedure if you want to know what X-CD-Roast is doing:
X-CD-Roast stops the daemon like this:
    ps -ax |fgrep diskarbitrationd
(The first number in that output is the pid)
    sudo kill -STOP <pid>
After you are done with X-CD-Roast it is started again:
    sudo kill -CONT <pid>

  • Internet Problem - One site will load, another won't. Then mintues later, the site that previously would load won't and the one that wouldn't will. I'm also pulling up a lot of pages in all text. Pics won't load or only one will load and the rest won't...

Several weeks ago, I began to have some very strange internet connection issues. All the lights on my modem stay on and my computer shows full wi-fi signal, but I suddenly I won't be able to load any pages. Other times, I'll be able to load pages from one site, but not another. It's not the same sites all the time though.... sometimes I'll be able to load pages from one site and not another, and then 5 minutes later it'll switch and I'll be able to load pages from the site I previously couldn't and I won't be able to load pages from the site I previously could. A lot of pages are coming up just text with no pics... and then 5 mintues later that site will load normally and another site will come up just text. It does the same thing whether I'm connecting wirelessly or via an ethernet cable. It also doesn't matter which browser I use (I've tried Safari, Chrome, and Firefox). Although, once in a while when using chrome, I get a DNS error page instead of the usual 'cannot find server'. I contacted my service provider and I'm not losing speed or dropping packets. According to them, the problem I'm having is very strange since diagnostic tests show no problems at all. Perhaps someone has run into this before and has a suggestion?

Then if you have tried all the browsers try connecting the system to yoour router with an Ethernet cable and turn WiFi off. If you have the same problem then it more then likely after your computer, Router or modem or connection from your ISP.
If you get good browsing with the Ethernet cable then it is either the WiFi card in your Mac or the WiFi system in your router.

  • I can't download anything as it keeps telling me my start up disk is full.  I have deleted loads of files and it still keeps popping up with the same messge??

Please help - I am not too computer savvi and my computer keeps telling me my start up disk is full.  I have purchased a passport and transferred loads of images and files onto that and then deleted them from my computer but the message is still the same and I can't download anything.

How big is your hard drive, and how much space is used/free?
To find out, click once on the hard drive icon on your desktop to highlight it (it will be called Macintosh HD unless you renamed it). Click the command and I keys on your keyboard to open the information window. In "General", you will see Capacity and Available. What are those figures?
If you have a little bit of space left, I recommend that you install Omnidisksweeper (it's free) to tell you what folders are using up the most room.
Be careful when you transfer files - only move files that you know are yours. Don't move or delete any system files unless you're specifically recommended to do so (some files are safe to delete; some are not).
