What kind of local files are you trying to open and what kind of content is on the pages?
Are that files that you've saved from the internet?

I have a problem closing tabs in Firefox v3.6.13. The first tab on the left hand side (ie the page that opens when I launch Firefox) won't close when I click on the red x.

I can't close the left hand tab except by exiting firefox. When i launch firefox the original tab stays open when I click on the red x, even if I have other tabs open.
i can alter the website displayed on the left hand tab but it still won't close and leave other more recent tabs open.

HELP!! Can's type in Firefox UNLESS I open another internet tab, then go back to the first tab! All of the sudden, out of the blue, I hear the little "beep" noise that Mac's make when, for example, you try to close a program without saving an item first. It will "beep" to make you aware that you have an unsaved document. Now, without changing anything on my computer or Firefox, I get thet "beep" when I go to Firefox and try to type in a search box, etc. The only way I can type is if I open a new tab in firefox, then go back to the first tab. Only then will I be able to type. If I use my mouse and click on another box to type on, or try to go back and edit text I have already trped using the mouse to jump to a different portion of my text, I will hear the same "beep" until I (once again) click on another tab, then return to the first tab. It is very annoying as I have to constatnly click on another tab then return so that I can type or edit any thing. I had to do this several times while editing this very paragraph!! I have uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled. Nothing changed...

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...
Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.
Does it work in the new account?

Firefox closes when i close the first tab of the browser using latest version 10.0 release.

I open many tabs on firefox, many times when I close the first tab, the entire window closes, and I have to reopen the browser. When I try that many times I get a message saying something like "Firefox is running Cannot open another window". When I checked the Task Manager I see firefox.exe and plugin-container.exe running. but the firefox is nowhere to be seen. Once I "End Task" these two, I can start firefox. This thing happens many times

I have the same problem and tested it in Safe Mode, and did the disable the add-ons thing. Everything went OK, even up to the last add-on. There wasn't a hint of the problem anymore, so I went back to regular use of FF (3.6.12) again. WELL, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN!!! I agree with the person who said that your supposed troubleshooting is B.S. You blame the user instead of saying something useful like "OK, we heard you (and over two dozen others) and we know it's not your doing, and it's OUR PROBLEM, and we're going to look into it and figure out how to fix it, AND we'll get back to you when we do and tell you how to fix it too." THAT's the kind of answer we FF users want to hear, not some claptrap about how WE the users didn't try hard enough to fix it on our own!

When I type in the address of a previous tab manually, it brings me back to the other tab.

I went to a website which I need to look more than one thing up on, so I pressed ctrl+t to open a new tab, and started typing in the address. It filled it in for me from my history, I clicked it (to be as specific as possible, I clicked on the website it suggested me with in the drop-down menu from my history, like it does when you start typing in an address/keyword), and it just brought me back to the previous tab instead of loading the website in the new one I opened.
I looked through my settings--both Tab-Mix Plus settings and Firefox settings--to see what could be causing this, if it was something I could enable/disable, but I didn't see anything. This is a really annoying feature and I would like to disable it. I know it doesn't seem like a big deal, but it's a really irritating thing to me... I guess I'm slightly obsessive-compulsive that way.
I know there are ways of getting around it, but, as I said, I find it really irritating and I'm stubborn. If there's a way to disable it I would really like to know.

I am not sure if the switch tab feature can be turned off. I did initially find it a minor irritation, but it does have the advantage if tabs scroll off screen that you are made aware of existing matching tabs, so I have come to see it as an improvement.
I have just tried with firefox4 to make sure and I am able to easily open multiple same tabs by for instance using '''Firefoxbutton -> history'''

You can of course use the (windows) '''right click option''' from links on a webpage to open other related pages in a new tab.

I usually have many tabs open when I read the news, and it is nice to select open links in new tabs while scrolling through a news' home page. Lately, however, Mozilla has been opening the new tab, but switches the page I am viewing to the first tab to the right of the home page. For example, I had ESPN.com open, and then a few Facebook tabs after that to the right. Whenever I would select open link in new tab, the tab I was viewing would switch from ESPN.com to the first Facebook tab to the right, and the new tab would open a little further down the line. Any chance anyone knows how to fix this?

I have tab mix plus and i have set the new tab to open my home page, no matter what i do I can't get the new tab of firefox to show up.

Firefox on Win8 opens menu and reloads last page or first tab

Dear community!
I use a Sony Vayo Duo 11 ultra convertible with latest Windows 8
Firefox is frequently loading the first tab (seems as it it refreshes and switch back to the first opened page?) It also opens the menu, the cursor jumps to it too, so I can´t continue writing unless pressing escape and replace the position of my cursor. On Youtube Firefox even jumped regularily to the former video!
I have asked about this on Diaspora and Computerclubs, but nobody knew the answer. It might as well be a Windows problem, although browsers, esp. Firefox make the most problems.

How to highlight selected tab instead of getting the first tab by defaultly

Hi All ,
I had one problem with the Jquery accordian. When I am selecting one tab in Jquery accordian then that tab is not getting highlited.
By defaultly the first tab is getting highlited or selected. The page for that selected tab is opening but the tab is not opening. By defaultly the first tab in accordian is getting selected.
Can some one help me on this.

My question is like when we click on the first tab in the accordian then that page will open and in the accordian the 1st tab will be opened and other tabs r closed in the jquery accordian. But in the same way when i am selecting the 2nd tab or other tabs in the accordian then that particular tab is not opening even in that case also the 1st tab is opening and the selected tab is not opening.

I want Firefox to stay on the SAME tab instead of going to the FIRST tab after saving a page

Several months ago FireFox (7) started going to the FIRST tab after saving and other actions.
This is extremely irritating as I usually have several windows with numerous tabs open and its very time consuming to find the tab I was on.
In fact, I have to open tabs in a new window prior to saving the page if I need info on that page for the file name as it's impossible to go anywhere but the first tab while at the prompt for the page name.
I hope it's not supposed to do that and greatly appreciate help to fix this.

The photo app puts files in date/time order and ignores their names.
You can look for another app that may honor file names (sorry, I don't know any to recommend) or you can find a program that alters your file properties. If all the files have properties that read the same date and time, then it defaults to alphabetical order

How to access the URL on page load and open it in the new tab of browser

I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.5 and i have one page "Hello.jspx" and one data control consist of two attributes :-one is "id" and other is "url".
The datacontrol has been created from the WebService.
Now my requirement is : -
whenever i run the page "Hello.jspx" , then on page load the url attribute should get accessed and should be opened in a new window or tab of the browser.As the url contains the information about the document.
Hello.jspx page doesn't contain any bindings of the url attribute.
I had thought of using the PhaseListener class and use the onPageLoad method .But how do i get the url from the dataControl and open it in the other tab of the browser on page load.
Please suggest!!!!

I don't think this can be done this way. I would think that you need to execute JavaScript upon Hello.jspx load to open a new window and pass the URL to it

When on faceboo using my in box it will send and receivemy conversations forthe first two or three then it stops working. if i refresh the page sometimes this woeks

I have taken it back to the Apple store genius bar, but they say they don't see anything wrong. Well unless you use it all day and experience the problems when they happen, you wont see anything wrong. But there are lots wrong with it. But this would be the same store as I purchased the phone. And they backed up my old Iphone 4, but were not able to get anything to load back onto my new phone. So, I lost pretty much everything. But over time, some of my contacts have started showing up, although i am still missing over 800 of them.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
