If I'm running ios 6 beta 4, will I still my phone still recognize that there is new software available?
I heard that ios 6 was released. I'm running the beta 4. However when I go to upgrade it already says I have the latest software. Since the beta isn't finalezed how do I get around this? Do I have to reinstall ios 5?
you need to back up your iphone to itunes,
then goto recovery mode
1. with the cable plugged to computer,shut down phone, then keep power and home button pressed till u get to recovery mode
2. itunes will detect ur phone in recovery mode.
3. select recover and update
4. restore backup after recovery/update
voila.. ios 6 full version ;-)

Because you have an older model that is not upgradable to iOS 5.x.

I'm currently running ios 5 beta on my iphone 4 and when i woke up this morning my phone had decided to automatically update the software OTA. After connecting to wifi and switching on location i proceeded to follow the instructions 'slide to setup'. I was informed that it may take 3 minutes to activate phone but was then presented with the screen 'Could not Activate iphone', this is because the activation server is unavailable. Can anybody shed some light on this for me?

Not here. iOS5 beta is only available to registered developers, and discussing it publicly outside of the private developer forums is a violation of the non-disclosure agreement you signed to access the beta. -
Running iOS 7 beta 3, I've noticed decreased Verizon service coverage.
I'm an iOS developer and thus am running iOS 7 beta on my iPhone 5. Once thing I've noticed which may not be directly OS-related is a notable decrease in service coverage. Places where I previously had 3/4G, I now have one or no bars. This is widespread and consistent since the upgrade from iOS 6.
Obviously this could be an OS-related problem, but I just wanted to check whether there is anything on Verizon's end that might be throttling down connections from the beta OS.
Any information would be greatly appreciated!

reset: hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
If that doesn't help. settings - general - reset - reset network settings.
You will not lose any data doing both of those suggestions. -

Take your backups and copy your photos off, then put your device in DFU mode to do a restore.

I have a Gen 4 Ipod Touch, it is still running with IOS 4. When i go to my settings and select <General> there is no <Software Update> button to choose from. How do i update my Ipod to the new IOS system?
You have to hook it up to a computer and update it to ios 5 and then there will be a "software update" button.

i downloaded ios5.1.1 to my phone, but i dont like the new software. The face detection used in the camera jut isnt for me. So, i would like to know if there was a way to undo the update and go back to ios 5.0.1. My iphone is not jailbroken or unlocked.

I am trying to install xcode on a macpro running OSX 10.6.8 . It installs, but with the error that there is no unix support. Do I have to upgrade to Lion 10.7 to do this? And if so, is this a free upgrade if I have the extended 3 yr support?

PandabigXcode 4.x cannot be installed on Snow Leopard. You need a 3.x. So if that is what you used then yes, you need to install lion. If connect.apple.com still alows registration or logins using an existing appleid then you could download the last xcode 3.2.6 for free.

I have an iphone 4s. I have an alert that there is a software update available to iOS 6. When I got to the settings tab, the "download and install" button is not highlited and I can't click on it. Below that, it says that this update requires a Wi-Fi network connection to download. So I connected my phone to my computer and tried to update throug itunes. When I clicked the update tab on itunes on my laptop, an alert pops up that says I need to be connected to the internet for th update to take place. I am confused because I am connected to the internet, but for some reason the connection is not being recognized when I try to update.
I am using a Gateway laptop and my internet connection is a verizon 4g device that I plug into a USB port. I feel like this should be so simple but have not been able to figure it out even when I called Apple and spoke to a rep...help!In order to download to your phone over the air, you need to be connected to WiFi.
It's possible the Internet connection through Verizon is not stable enough for the downlaod to begin (it is a very large download).
You might want to head over to Starbucks with your laptop for the afternoon and see if you can download it over their WiFi. -
hie there Actually um trying to update new iOS 7 for my iphone 4 but when i press the button to install new software suddenly it appears why " iOs 7 failed verification because you are no longer connected to the internet " even my phone is already connected to net
I tried powering down and re-starting the iPhone (as suggested at http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275). This seems to have cleared the "...not connected to the Internet" problem, and iOS 6.1 is now in the process of downloading.

Is there some way to download older versions of games that will run in an iPod Touch running iOS 4.2.1? I want to give my old device to a child who recently went through a hard time and his device was damaged. It is no use if it only has music on it. Thanks!

iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists. -
My iPhone 4's running iOS 7.1.2 will not connect to wifi?
Both my iPhone 4 and 4s will not connect to my homes Wifi. I'm aware that there are MANY different forums with the same question but I have tried everything from what i've seen and nothing has worked. I also have an iPad and MBP that are connected to the wifi just fine. I'm only curious because, well, if i'm not using Wi-fi, i'm using up Data. I don't think this is a "take your phone to an Apple Genius Bar" type of problem because it has happened before on multiple occasions. I did nothing out of the ordinary to fix it before; it just simply worked again after an hour or two but it has been far longer than that this time.
Is there anyone else who has tried most, if not all solutions and found any ways to figure out what the exact problem could be? I think it would be cool if apple could give us an error such as "Unable to join the network 'xxxxx' (Error:#000090)" <--So that at least we'd have some type of idea of what's wrong. No solutions have worked so far and it's becoming a hassle . Thanks to any help.
Also, usually when it happens before it acts as if it's attempting to connect (spinning thing goes for about 5-6 seconds), but now it's like the exact moment I go to put my password in, it rejects me. It sounds like you are unable to connect to your home Wi-Fi suddenly on 2 different iOS devices. I would be interested to know if the affected phones are able to connect to a different Wi-Fi connection, but barring that I would use the following article to help troubleshoot the devices and the Wi-Fi connection:

Hi, I am new to this forum so please excuse anything I may say that sounds a bit stupid but I am not very technically minded.
I have got an iPhone 3gs ios version 4.1. The phone was locked to Vodafone and I asked them to unlock it which they did. I connected the phone to iTunes and it said congratulations your phone is now unlocked. My new Tesco sim card was accepted and the phone works fine. I have tried to download some apps but they all seem to need a higher version of the ios. iTunes says there is an update for my phone ios version 6. I need to know if I update my phone to this version will my phone still be unlocked and also will the phone continue to work properley. Hope someone can help.
