If I open an attachment in an email on phone, why can't I then open attachment in imail on computer

If I read my email from my phone and open an attachment, later when I am back on my computer the attachment has disappeared. Why is this?

No one else with this problem? The email account is gmail. And if I then resend the email to myself (and do not look at it on my phone) the attachment is then there...

Apple ID - Why is this so Hard? "Email in use" why can't I fix?

My son has an iPhone4s and a new Retina MAcBook we bought him to take to college.
He has an Apple ID [email protected] We can't think of any other apple ID that would've used that @me.com email.
When he tries to set up Messages on either his iPhone or MacBook, we get the error, "email can't be verified" beacuse it is already in use.
But we can't change the primary email on that account for some reason. I've looked at lots of other dicsussions and help files. Here is what we see when we log into my Apple ID:
Note there is not a button to re-verify the "primary" email, nor to edit or to delete it. We've tried deleteing the alternate email a few times, doesn't seem to help. I want him to call Apple, but you know kids, they don't want to do whatever it is you want them to do......
His Apple ID seems to work fine for the iTunes & App Store & iCloud for email
Any thoughts????? I'm stymied. Apple needs to make this easier.

I really hate to break it to you, but I have been working with computer recording and synthesis programs for 20 years. I've tried everything. GarageBand is hands down the easiest program ever devised for recording and editing music. Nothing else comes close.
That being said, one has to understand the basics of what music is and how it is organized in order to be able to use GarageBand effectively. Composing a song is a much more elaborate undertaking than snapping a picture with a point-and-shoot camera and cropping it (as in iPhoto).
As for how to do anything in it, first, RTFM (Read the Fabulous Manual) in this case the built-in Help feature under the Help menu. Then you can go to Amazon.com and find a dozen or so books in print on working with GarageBand. If you really want to learn how to make music, I have two suggestions that I give to newbies: 1) Join a choir or chorus in your community or at your church, and obviously attend all the rehearsals, and 2) take piano lessons from a piano teacher. By doing these you will learn how music is organized and put together. That's the essence of GarageBand or any other program for recording music.

Why can't I change my apple id / email address associated with my apple id ?

My apple id is associated with a gmail address.
I wan't to change it to something else.
So I went to: appleid.apple.com ---> Change apple id ---> Typed in new email address (everything shows green) ---> Hit Save.-->Edit box disappears as if everything went ok ----> But the box showing my apple id, still shows the gmail address!
It still shows my gmail address!! Doesn't send any verification email or anything! No matter what I do, it doesn't let me change it from my gmail address!
It let me change my password though, and also let me change my rescue email address.
Why can't I change my apple id ?

I tried that.

For my business I have to send invoices to customers, When I attach the invoice to an email non apple uses can not open the file? why is this.
I have tried to copy and paste the invoice to body of email and when they get it it appears as a question mark in a box?

Couple of thoughts.
When you have the Mail compose window up, there should be a row of icons along the top right side. One of these is a paperclip for attachments. Click it, and check the Send Windows-Friendly Attachments. This will help for non-Mac Mail recipients. Ultimately, it will be their email system, and how it is configured that will determine how their attachments arrive — not you.
Send your invoices as PDF, not Pages, or Word content. Since you don't mention your operating system or release of Pages, I will cover the bases here:
Pages '09
One can use the Share menu to send a PDF via Mail. It does the export to PDF, opens Mail, and attaches the PDF. (Broken in Yosemite).
File ▸ Export ▸ PDF…, and then drag/drop the PDF into a Mail compose Window. If document size, right-click on it and choose View as Icon.
Pages v5
On the right-side of the Toolbar, there is a Share icon. Choose Send a Copy > Email > PDF. This auto-attaches to a new Mail compose window.
File ▸ Export To ▸ PDF… . Same as Pages '09, second bullet.

PDF files are extremely reliable. You may have a software issue. I have the problem on 2 identical systems with the exact same specs. The problem occurs at the same exact interval. It may be a windows update. We have had to re-install software form the DVD in each instance. This fixes it for awhile and then it recoccurs. Adobe acts as if they have never heard of the problem...imagine that. I'm the only one with th problem.
This is happens with CS6 volume lic product.
If you dont own Adobe product it will be even more difficult to find and answer as the reader is used my so many people.
We know we have the problem again when we double click opn a PDF and nothing happens. SOme have reported that reloading does not fix the problem.
Wish I could help you. I am looking for answers to this issue right now and phone support is a 30 minute wait.

Thanks Jeff, I was not aware that a template could be multi-page. (All the existing templates were 1 page)
But it worked, saving me some steps. When I was finished I renamed the document, and locked it.
Then tried to save it but could not because it was locked. I closed it, went to my Spread Sheet Folder ,
to find it, it was not there. The Finder could not find it either.
So I start over again.
I opened up Numbers and it showed my personal Numbers template folder, it contained both my new
original 4 page template and the vanished saved document!
I tried to delete the template containing these document data and could not - I had to go to the Library/Application Support/Numbers to physically remove it from this folder. Then I started over again. I Finally found out how to make it work: I can now "save as", and then lock, and it will go to place where I want it to be saved and locked.
The secret is: Click on the document title in the menu bar, and it opens up "Save as...", which works the same as in OS 10.4.11, and you can pick the place you want for saving. Once done that, you can then lock the document in the same pull down menu, and then close it.
I also found later that I can delete a template from its folder, by letting Numbers open the templates,
clicking on the one I want to remove, then go to the "Numbers Menu/File/Move to...", select "Desktop"
and from there the selected template can then be thrown into the Trash from there.
It appears now that the real fault of the Numbers software is that the "Save as" command is not available in the "Edit" or "File" pull-down menus, but hidden behind the title of the document.

I received an email with a JPG photo attachment, when I clicked "download", nothing happened, no drop-down message or instructions, the word "download" just disappeared from the screen.

Adam, I wouldn't blame you if you got tired of answering this question, but the problem is I couldn't get the attachment to download so it's obviously not in the file folder.
What make me so frustrated is the fact the sender of the email is a Mac user, why in the world I would have such a hard time opening an attachment from another Mac user when I have no no problem whatsoever to open it on my Windows computer?

Having the email address is not necessary. It is just the username for the device. All you need is that Apple ID and password. Now, if you forgotten the password, then you have more work to do. Since that email is no longer active, you would need to send the reset to your rescue email, if you remember that. Or you will need to contact Apple Security for help. That changes things a little bit , login to icloud.com and see if you can find it in your sent folder.
If it is there you did send, just need to wait until you phone syncs "sent folder" perhaps on wifi.
If it is not, then I would say it is lost and you may have to send again. They have 20 megs limit, so make sure that message plus attachment is under that limit.

Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.
