If I opened a PDF from a website, is it stored anywhere even if I didn't save it?

Help!  I need a PDF that I opened from a website, but I did not save it.  The website has since replaced the file with another.  Is the original PDF stored anywhere on my computer?

  • When i open a pdf from any website to read , firefox automatically downloads to the hadr disk, safari does not do this. how can i stop all the clutter resulting from these downloads

    as above ,

    The text editor is the text area that you use on the webmail (Yahoo, Hotmail) website to create a new mail.
    You can compare that with the ''Post new message'' text area that you use to create a new post on this forum.
    Just above the text area that you use to enter the message text there is usually a button bar with buttons that allows some text formatting like Bold and Italic and can also include a button to make a clickable hyperlink.
    Check the tooltip of each button by hovering with the mouse over each button.

  • Will not open a document from a website in another tab.

    When I am trying to open a document from a website link, a new tab opens in the link but the document is not there, the screen is blank. This happen EVERY time. For example, I just wanted to print a coupon from a department store and I clicked on the link, it opened in another tab and it was blank. The way I solve this is I open up Safari or Google Chrome and open the website and I can then get the coupon to show up. Other people have had this same problem with Firefox. I work at a store that uses printed coupons and people come in and tell me this. This also happens with PDF file links.

    The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
    Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
    To Reset Firefox do the following:
    #Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
    #Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
    #Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
    Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.

  • Can't veiw a pdf from a website.

    I'm trying to view a pdf from a website. When I click on the link, it opens a new browser window but it doesn't display the pdf, it is a blank window instead. The help area on this site said to go to your preferences and make sure "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" is unchecked. I can not find this in the prefs.

    Windows 7, Internet Explorer.

    Hello Kirk,
    Thank's for your efforts, and I just wish that this was the solution.  Unfortunately, it isn't because, after double-clicking on the pdf in the website, it simply "opens" in another Safari window as a black screen - the pdf is there, somewhere, but not visible (either as an icon, or as a document).
    When I right-click in the black Safari window, where the file is supposed to be, the only option available to display the file is to "Open file in Internet Explorer" (which is not what I want to do).  Other options include saving or printing the pdf, which I don't want until I've confirmed that it's the form that I want.  The same options are offered if I right-click on the file icon in the website.
    Any other suggestions, please?

  • Black window when downloading a pdf from a website

    Hi,
    Got 2 problems really.
    1. On my iMac, when I try to download a pdf from a website, I sometimes get a black window (background) with an Acrobat logo;
    2. When I tried to download Acrobat Reader 9 to fix this problem, the Apple installer starts toinstall and then says,"Adobe Reader 9 cannor be installed on this computer."
    Any ideas please?

    Mike,
    I downloaded the new PPC version and when I tried to open pdfs off of the internet again, got the same black window problem.
    I rebooted my machine and left it overnight as I had to go out - this morning, it opened website pdfs with no problem.
    Thanks very much for your help.

    On my iPad, I'm trying to open a PDF from Safari with iBooks, but when I choose "Open with ..." in Safari, only Pages and Dropbox show as options.  I'm running iOS 7.1.2 and iBooks 3.2.  I have rebooted the iPad and that did not help, and reinstalled iBooks, which also changed nothing.  Thanks for any ideas!

    Yup, it was uploaded to our school Wiki as a PDF, and Pages did open it.  I was then able to move it to iBooks, but I'd rather avoid the extra steps.

    Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
    Type of copy paste the following:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
    Click Go. If you see this file:  AdobePDFViewer.plugin
    Drag it to the Trash, empty the Trash.
    Quit and relaunch Safari.

    It may depend on the plugin that is loaded into your browser. However, right click on a PDF and select the Open With option and go to the default button to select Acrobat as the default. That might do it.

  • Opening a pdf from a blob

    Hi Guys,
    I know this is a borderline ApEx problem but I have a page whose sole job is to open a pdf from a blob stored in the database.
    This code works for most client machines:
    DECLARE
    l_blob blob;
    BEGIN
    SELECT letter INTO l_blob
    FROM letters
    WHERE lett_id = :P44_LETT_ID;
    -- owa_util.mime_header('application/pdf',false);
    -- tried pdf and octet they work the same?????
    owa_util.mime_header('application/octet',false);
    htp.p('Content-Length: ' || dbms_lob.getlength(l_blob));
    owa_util.http_header_close;
    wpg_docload.download_file(l_blob);
    END;
    On some machines I get 'Windows cannot open this file ...File: f[7] ...To open this file..........
    On most machines this works fine.
    I haven't got it to fail with Firefox yet, just IE but only a few machines running IE. Client getting annoyed and I starting to stress.
    Many thanks
    Gary

    Have you already tried adding
    htp.p('Content-Disposition:  attachment; filename...as described here?
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B32472_01/doc/appdev.300/b32469/up_dn_files.htm#CIHDDJGF
    Maybe it solves the problem, in case IE is a little bit picky. But I really don't know.
