If i purchase a mac mini can i also use the facilities of my existing microsoft tower
I am contemplating buying a Mac Mini to replace my existing Microsoft Tower running Windows XP. Can I still use the CD/Floppy Disc drives on the Tower and what about some of the Microsoft Softwear that I have which is not available for a Mac.
What will happen to all the email etc that I have stored on the tower hard disc.
Can I use the Tower Hard Disc as a back up medium for the Apple Mac Mini.
For running XP software, the best bet is using one
of the available virtual machine apps if the apps are
not highly graphics oriented. These apps are basically
a PC running as an application. With VMWare Fusion or
Parallels Desktop for Mac, they even have apps to import
a physical machine ito a virtual machine. Check their
websites for more info.
You should be able to import your mail and other using
Apple's Migration Assistant.
As for the hard drive and CD player, best bet is to just
remove them and put them into their own enclosures
which can be purchased from various sources such as
Newegg, etc.
As for floppies, best thing there is to find a cheap USB
drive, if you can.

I have a mid 2011 27 inch iMac and a late 2012 mac mini. I am using the 27 inch iMac as the display for the mac mini with a thunderbolt cable. I was trying to use bootcamp on the mini but after I started downloading windows I can't get it to display on the iMac.
Hi there,
The simplest way is to drag it across wirelessly using the 'Airdrop' application once both computers are near one another. 'Airdrop' can be found near the top, on the left hand side menu, within 'Finder'.

The numeral part of my keyboard causes my mac mini to freeze when using the 0 - 9 keys
The numeral part of my keyboard causes my mac mini to freeze when using the 0 - 9 keys.. I have to restart to continue.
Does it have to do with the disk utility?
I already did the disc repair jobOpen System Preferences - Universal Access and check whether 'Mouse Keys' are activated.
If so, then deactivate them. They could be the cause of your problem.

have iMac osx version 10.8.5 and i forgot my account login password. i can't change it using my apple ID nor i remember my password.also my fire vault is not on and my keychain won't help. PS i can't also use the terminal idea it always not found please help !!
You need to restart the iMac and hold down the Command and R keys immediately.
You will then have the utilities drop down and you choose Terminal
When Terminal opens, type exactly:
resetpassword
and press Return.
When the Reset Password window opens, select the user for which you want to change the password.
Enter the new password twice, and then click Save.
Accept the next dialog window,
And then Apply
When finished click the apple at the left side of the menu bar, and the Restart. -
What do I need to connect my Mac Mini to a TV using the S-video jack?
Radio Shack didn't have anything in the store and suggested
that what I needed (something with an S-video connector
at the adapter end and a co-ax/F-connector at the TV end)
would cost $100.
What should I be looking for? I'd like the option to connect
my Mac Mini to a TV (with enough resolution to read text,
which isn't the case with a video-RCA cable), especially in
a hotel room (using the Mac Mini as a laptop!).The DVI to video adapter

will give best results using the S-Video. Next best is composite video. If your TV set does not have either of these, you will need a RF modulator to connect to the TV antenna connector. For best results get a modulator that takes S-video. It should cost a lot less than $100.00 Radio Shack has one for $25

No matter what connection you use, a standard TV will not give you better than 640 x 480 resolution, so it will always be hard to read small text. -
Mac Mini - Can I "fix" "lock" the audio output of the mini?
I wish to "fix" (lock) the volume level coming from the headphone/line output of my Mac Mini (version just before the current)? Is that possible and if so, how?

Photoshop CC for Mac - why can't I use the paint bucket?
I finally found the paint bucket tool - but when I try to use it, I get the circle w/ the cross in it (like the ghostbusters background ).
EUREKA! it didn't work with .tif or .psd files, but it DID work w/ a .jpg file!
Hopw this helps someone! The file format does not matter (once the image is loaded, it's just bits).
The only time I know of that the paint bucket would not work is on a 32 bit/channel document.
Were you using the wrong bit depth in your files by mistake? -
Thunderbolt Displays are daisy chained
It depends on what MacBook Pro and video card you have. What I have seen is this:
MacBook Pro with Retina display can drive four screens simultaneously
New MacBooks can manage many, many monitors -

Can you connect iPad to Mac mini, Can you connect iPad to Mac mini
Can you connect iPad to Mac mini, Can you connect iPad to Mac mini?
Every Mac Mini has a USB port. Every Mac Mini can run iTunes. The only catch is that you need to be running Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard) or later. So in general, yes, an iPad can connect to a Mac Mini.

I intend to purchase a Mac Mini and connect to a regular (not Smart) flat screen TV that will be as such a large monitor. With this setup do I require an additional Apple TV to watch programs from Netflix, Apple Store movies, Y-tube etc?
You can view NetFlix and YouTube via their websites on a Mac computer. You can purchase/play iTunes movies and other thing via iTunes on the Mac.

I plan to purchase a Mac mini and then a new iPad. Can I use the iPad as a keyboard and screen for the Mac mini, using either the USB connector or Wi-Fi?
I'm sorry, I should have said thru Bluetooth, not Wi-Fi. I want to use the mini as a base station and the iPad like a laptop that I can sync when I'm home and carry with me when I travel. Is is possible to hook these 2 up - iPad/mini, through Bluetooth? I understand I need to use a regular monitor/keyboard/mouse on the initial install.

I have purchased a mac mini only to find I am unable to run Logic pro 9 , is there any way this can be achieved? It has been suggested that I partition the drive and install a copy of an older operating system to run the Logic Pro, is this feasible?

Only with a whole lot of effort and instability. As the new Minis have
hardware (HD4000, USB 3.0, etc.) that is totally unsupported in old OSes.
The only option would be to see if it would work by installing in a virtual machine
running 10.6.8. I'm sure there will be some performance hit but whether it would
be enough to be unusable is the question. -

Photoshop vs. Photoshop Extended and FCE
