If I purchase from the store can I always take it back for repair?

I was wondering if I purchase my MBP in-store will I always be able to return it to the store for repairs or replacements if I have any problems, or will I eventually have to send it to Applecare.

Yes, although it depends on the store exactly whether and what repairs they actually do in-store. Some repairs require the store to send it into the AppleCare repair facility.

    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
    Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
    When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
    Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

    If you don't have or don't know your rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.

  • Updated to iTunes 11.1.1 and now I can't purchase from the store

    After updating to iTunes 11.1.1 I tried to purchase a music album and got a message that, since this is the first time I've tried to purchase from this computer, I need to answer security questions.  It is NOT the first time, this is my desktop from which I make all my purchases and to which I sync my iPhone, iPad and iPod, but I figured I'd just go along and get to my purchase in short order. I answered the questions, and it rejected my answers. I tried again, same thing, except now it said I was going to be locked out of my account if I answered wrong again.
    I signed out of my account and signed in again and the same thing keeps happening.
    I was already signed in, and I have money sitting in my account waiting to be spent.  All I want is to continue purchasing and enjoying music and apps. Please tell me what happened when I upgraded iTunes that has me unable to use the store.

    Issue is resolved.  I completely quit iTunes, then opened the app and answered the questions and it let me in and allowed me to complete my purchase.  I guess not completely quitting and re-entering after the upgrade caused the glitch.

    The "bar" at the bottom does not say anything about all of your songs being on the iPod.  It just shows you how much of its storage capacity is being used, based on what is on the iPod.
    If you see "On This iPod," that means the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is not visible.  This is easier to describe with the sidebar visible, so from the iTunes menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar. 
    Select the iPod in the sidebar, under DEVICES.  There is a bar of buttons near the top, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This is the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
    Check the box for Sync Music.  You can choose to sync Entire music library, if (?) your iTunes music library fits on the iPod.  With this setting, your entire iTunes music library syncs to the iPod, and new songs get synced automatically.  A 7th gen iPod nano is 16GB, so your iTunes music library would have to be less than 16GB (not counting non-music content on the iPod).  Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Then, select (checkmark) the playlists, artists, albums, and/or genres you want on the iPod from the lists below.  If you want newly added songs to sync to the iPod, they must be part of your selection.  For example, you can add them to a playlist that you have selected for syncing to the iPod.
    When you click Apply, the songs from your selection sync to the iPod.  Going forward, changes to your iTunes library (based on your settings on the iPod's Music screen) sync automatically to the iPod, the next time it is connected (or when you click Sync).

    Since it has always been very basic to backup your computer and all it's data, Apple provides no way for you to transfer music from your iPhone back to your computer.  As you know, you can re-download all iTunes purchases, but music that you ripped yourself you'll have to just re-rip again.
    You can try and find 3rd party applications that might help you.  I'm sure you'll pay, however.
    Let this be a very important lesson learned.

    This problem is resolved. I deleted the old iTunes (with write permissions turned on for my account) and reinstalled successfully. Removing the deleted iTunes from Trash was troublesome even with root but after playing around with permissions and flags, I was able to remove it.

    If I buy a physical book and I don't like it, I can either throw it away if its really bad, or donate it to charity or sell it if its just not my thing. I want to be able to tidy up my iBooks in the same way. I don't want those books still sitting under "purchased items", I want them gone and gone permanently.

  • Trouble getting numbers that I purchased from the Store for my MAC to get on my IPAD.

    I bought and downloaded Numbers for the iMac a couple years ago. I just bought an iPad and was told I could download numbers at no charge. I had the same problem with Pages, finally gave up and purchased it again as I needed it to get iCloud working. While working with iCloud I realized I needed to upgrade pages on the MAC which I did, so I upgraded numbers at the same time. All good there. I have more time now, so would like to get numbers on my iPad but I'm not keen on paying again.
    I have the same Apple Id as we set it up in the store when I bought it. I tried sync using iTunes but numbers won't show up in the apps for me to transfer. I tried to follow instructions re going to the app store from iPad, click on purchases. It still doesn't recognize any purchases except for the few games I downloaded on iPad itself.
    Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

    Well before you got too hard on them, keep in mind that often customers don't properly lay out their scenaro, which causes misconmunication.  And then you may get the right advice, but for the wrong scenario.
    But just in case you may doubt me as well, feel free to get a third opinion, as I may have misunderstood you as well

    So I just upgraded to Mavericks and iTunes 11.1.4.
    Whenever I go to rent or purchase a movie in the store, I get the spinning beachball after I press the button, and I have to force quit.
    I tried repairing permissions but that didn't help. Anybody know what's going on?
