  • Because of warning  I received for my iTunes (it would not start up) MSVCR80dill missing, if I remove the program and reinstall will I lose the music I already had and purchased?

I am somewhat computer illiterate but I have a question.  I have had iTunes for several years and never had a problem.  I occassionally get prompts to update and those only take about a minute and they're done.  Last week, the download could not complete even after I had tried 2 or 3 times.  I just let it go thinking I would try again when I had more time.  Yesterday I tried to access iTunes on my Windows 7 and got a message, " could not start iTunes, MSVCR80 dill is missing.  Please reload iTunes to fix the problem.  I tried several times but I continue to get the same message without iTunes coming up.  I talked to a computer geek today who told me I should go to my control panel and uninstall iTunes and reinstall it.  My question.  I have placed many albums of music and purchased many songs from the iTunes shop which I am concerned will go missing or deleted if I uninstall and reinstall.  Will I lose my library if I do this?  What precautions can I take to make sure everything comes back as it was?

  • TS5376 I'm having problems with install version 11.1.4. If I uninstall and reinstall will I lose all my downloaded music?

I'm having problems with install version 11.1.4. If I uninstall and reinstall will I lose all my downloaded music?

Hi, so did I.  It seems to be a huge problem with everyone.  I opened a folder on desktop and called it target.  I copied all my songs into that folder.
I uninstalled Itunes completely.  Rebooted.  Then I installed a fresh install.
I then dragged all the songs back to Itunes and it worked.  I hope that helps.
I read an article the other day and apple is suppose to come out with some genius fix for this problem, it really seems to be global.
    Good luck,

  • If I uninstall iTunes and reinstall it, will I lose my music files?

    Hi
My Ipod touch (2nd Gen) is not being recognised in itunes. I have gone through the ipod touch assistant, and this has made no difference.
Next try is to uninstall itunes and re-install it. However...will I lose my music library when I do this?
I am also having problems with my external back-up drive which has now stopped me opening it up (I have had it for a year), as it says "I don't have permission to see it's contents" and "files can't be copied onto the backup disk because it appears to be "read-only" - so I am loathe to uninstall itunes if I lose all my music etc....
    Thanks for your help
    Simon

You will not lose any music..
However, you do have a current backup of the iTunes folder and all other important info on your hard drive, correct?

  • I downloaded the latest itunes update and it will not play my music and the sound on my computer has been disabled.

I downloaded the latest itunes update on my HP desktop with Windows Vista and it will not play my music and has disabled the sound on my computer?

    Good Morning jsacc38,
The resource below will help you with the issues you are having with the iTunes for Windows update on your PC:
If you can't install or update iTunes for Windows - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201668
Learn what to do if you can’t install or update iTunes on your Windows PC.
If you can’t install iTunes on your Windows PC, or if you see “error 7” or “error 2” after you install the software, follow the steps below in order.
If you see a different error when trying to launch iTunes, follow the steps in iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues.
Make sure that you're logged in to your computer as an administrator.
If you're not sure if you have an administrator account, read Windows 7: How do I log on as an administrator? You can also refer to your computer's help system, contact your IT department, or visit support.microsoft.com for assistance.
Install the latest Microsoft Windows updates.
To download the latest updates, visit the Microsoft Windows Update website. iTunes for Windows requires Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8, with the latest Service Pack installed. If you can’t install the updates, refer to your computer's help system, contact your IT department, or visit support.microsoft.com for assistance.
Visit the iTunes download page. Click Download Now to download the iTunes installer. When prompted, click Save (instead of Run).
Right click on iTunesSetup or iTunes64Setup (the installer you downloaded in step 3).
If you have Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: Choose "Run as administrator."
If you have Windows XP: Choose Open.
If you've previously installed iTunes, the installer will prompt you to repair the software.
After the repair is complete, restart your computer and try launching iTunes.
If iTunes fails to install or repair, it might be necessary to remove components left from a previous installation of iTunes and then reinstall.
Remove and reinstall iTunes and other software components for Windows XP.
Remove and reinstall iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8.
Songs you bought from the iTunes Store or imported from CDs are saved in your My Music folder by default. Deleting iTunes won’t delete your music.
    Disable conflicting software.
Some background processes can cause issues that prevent applications like iTunes from installing.
If you installed security software and are having issues installing iTunes for Windows, you might need to disable or uninstall security software to resolve the issues.
    Restart your computer.
After the restart, and adjusting the software running on your PC, install iTunes again.

If the steps in this article don't help you resolve the issue, you might be able to find a solution through a search of the Microsoft support website.

hi, i want to know if i reinstall Itunes if i will lose my music and playlists. Every time i start itunes a box pops up that says i should reinstall it, because it doesn't have the proper drivers to burn my cds. If i move my music out of itunes folder, will it still get deleted? THANKS!

No you won't lose your library, it's stored in a separate location from the program files.

If I delete IBooks and reinstall it will I lose my books?

If you purchased the books through the iBooks store, then no, you will not lose them but you will have to redownload them.
You can do so by opening the iBooks app, tapping the Store icon and clicking on the Purchased tab at the bottom. You can download any books you have purchased from here..

  • TS1363 if I uninstall i-tunes then reinstall, will I lose my music?

I have a new ipod nano (gen 7). When I plug it in to my computer, windows recognizes it, but i-tunes does not. I updated everything and tried the recommended fixes but nothing is working. The only thing I did not try was uninstalling and reinstalling i-tunes. I am concerned that if I uninstall, I will lose my music. Can I uninstall and reinstall without losing my music?

The music will remain. Back it up anyway.

  • Will I lose the music files on my IPhone when I sync with my new Mac Book?

I have music files on my iPhone that I fear will be lost when I first sync with iTunes on my new Mac Book. When I try to sync a msg pops up saying that all music on the iPhone will be deleted and replaced by the selected music from my Mac Book.
Is there anyway to overwrite the computer iTunes with the files of the iPhone. The option to overwrite the iPhone is there but the other way around??
    Appreciate all assistance.

I'm afraid you're asking in the wrong place. iSync is only for syncing Contacts & Calendars to non-Apple mobile phones.
Try the Using iTunes for Mac or one of the iPhone forums.
What you should do is transfer your iTunes Library from the old computer to the new one, then continue syncing as normal.

  • HT204074 will i lose the music on my decive if i enable itunes match

Will I lose the music on my iphone if I enable itunes match?

You will not "lose" your music, since:
    1) it is already stored in your computer
    or
    2) you have it available from the itunes store, if you bought the tracks there.
These two methods are the only options to get music into the phone, so you can't lose a single track.
However, if you chose to enable iTunes match in your device, it will erase the music that is already stored in your phone, and you will have to load it from the cloud. I assume this is the answer that you are looking for. Hope this helps.
