As long as you are able to distinguish the backups, it should work fine. Apple tend not to always allow multiple backups and sometimes will move the replaced one to the recycling bin when you don't want it to. Finding it in there and putting it back on iTunes won't be too hard.

I set up new phone (5) as a "new phone instead of backing up from icloud. How can I get back in to use the icloud backup? If I hit "delete account" does that just clear the new phone or does it get rid of my whole icloud account.

Settings>General, scroll to bottom of screen and tap Reset, choose to delete all data. Then attach to itunes and choose to perform a restore. You'll get the option to restore from icloud.

Yosemite might be good for some pretty new interface and a bit of added security but it has created so many problems with JAVA, my wifi, and just my general attitude toward my mac that I almost want to go back to a PC. *shudders to think about that*

Thank You all for the words of wisdom. What I ended up doing was taking a little extra time and trolling around the boards to learn more about ALL of my hardware. Turns out, a bunch of my problems were created by my ISP. They were trying to abandon the support for the service I had and restricted my BW down below normal dial up. I talked to them and they said they had notified me through their email service which I do not use 2 years ago that they would be doing this. Once I changed services my Sat ISP came back up to screaming speed (for us here in the middle of the desert) The Java/ Safari issues were taken care of fairly rapidly once I was able to get back on line and contact the services I was using. I dropped my iPhone 4 in water and cannot get it to dry out enough to turn back on. I may have fried the battery. I am using an old iPhone 3 temporarily but cannot get all of my current info to sync. My calendar is up to date but none of my notes have transferred over and the contact list is from when I originally used the iPhone 3 last year. How do I get my iPhone 4 info synced onto the iPhone 3?

You can't restore an iPhone 3G from an iPhone 4 backup. Until you get a replacement you can access your iCloud data at iCloud.com on a computer.

Got everything to re-install and it worked fine...for a few hours. Then I came in to find ALL of my network users deleted. Just GONE. Then found out the Open Directory was trashed and was unable to open, recover or restore from a backup. Looks like I may have a bad drive here.
I installed a new drive in the system, re-installed and so far (for a couple of hours anyway) the system seems to be working and stable.

That happened to me. I had the 4s and I just got the 5. You have to go to Settings. Then general. Then click reset which is at the bottom. Then click erase all content and settings. It will restart your phone and erase everything but it will let you choose a backup to restore. So you click the backup that was before you got your new ipad. Everything should come back. The same thing happened to me and I lost all my pictures but I got them all back. Hope this helps.

Branch WAAS(547) missing from CM...can't add back

One of our branch WAAS devices had the wrong hostname and I edited our DNS/TACACS and updated the hostname in the WAAS itself.
I went to the Central Manager and deleted the old entry and went to the branch WAAS, enabled cms, disabled/enable the tcp promiscuous 61/62, and WCCP is up. I can see redirection happening on the WAAS and the router but the Central Manager does not have an entry for the WAAS device. I can also ping the central manager from the branch WAAS and visa versa. Everything seems to be working optimization wise but I can't figure out why I can't see the hostname of the box in the CM gui. It's been two days and it's not showing up.
Here is the cms info on the branch WAAS (IP's omitted).

I have a central manager address configured on the branch WAAS but when I try to deregister it, I get this output that it failed.
I can't follow the document because you need to select the device in the central manager to mark it replacable. The device doesn't exist in the central manager so I can't follow that document.

Hello, For the last I don't know how many years or months I have had a Spotify Unlimited subscription, costing me 4.99 per month. Recently I went on a weekend holiday, and for the duration of that weekend I wanted to be able to use Spotify on my smartphone. I upgraded to Premium, thinking: ok, Premium for the weekend, it'll cost me 5 extra, but it's worth it to me for now, and I'll go back to Unlimited when I get back home. So now that I was back home I wanted to change back to Unlimited, but I couldn't find a "downgrade" option anywhere. In another thread I read that I would have to cancel my subscription and that then the Unlimited option would be available again. So I did that: cancel my subscription. It has now ended, but I don't see an option for the Unlimited plan anywhere. I don't feel treated in a way that's fair. If you had notified me beforehand that there wouldn't be a possibility to go back to my old subscription, I wouldn't have upgraded to Premium at all. Even an email telling me "sorry but the Unlimited subscription.. we can't afford to sell this any more, so you'll soon have to upgrade or cancel" would have been fine. But telling me I can't downgrade after I have upgraded.. well that's just pretty disappointing. In case I'm wrong: could you point me to a way to go back to my Unlimited subscription? And in case I'm right: could you let me know as well?

Can't go back or forward more than one page at a time, what happened to the little arrow that allowed you to go back several pages at once.

some websites disable the back button. older versions of firefox i could hit the little arrow on the right of the forward button and it would display several back pages so i could choose which one to go back or forward to. now i go back as far as a disabled page and can't go any further. this is really annoying to lose a feature that i used all the time

There are three options to access the history: (1) Click and hold the back button. (2) Right click the back button (3) If you really want the dropmarker back, install an addon: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/backforward-dropmarker/.

Have you not got a backup of your content ? iTunes will only copy back purchases that you made from Apple. For music from other sources you will need to find a program from another source which can copy them back from the phone - if you do a search on google you might find some. Or depending from where you got them from can you re-download them from those sites ?

Just bought/installed 10.4 and upgraded to 10.4.9. Everything works great; BUT, I used startup disk to select old OS 9.0.4 system folder to boot from and now i CAN'T get back to 10.4.9. Booting w/ OPTION won't give me the option, and OS support pages suggesting going to the Start-up Disk folder don't help since control panel only give me choice between MAC HD and Network driver. Do I really have to go buy an OLD OS like 9.1 or 9.2 to upgrade to? Apple should help with this...

The version of Startup Disk control panel that comes with original OS 9.1 and earlier installs was not coded to be able to recognize OSX as a valid boot OS, probably because OSX did not yet exist when those OS's were written.
There are four solutions in order to get back to OSX from your OS 9.0.4, with both OS's on the same, unpartitioned drive -
(1) Update the OS to OS 9.2.1, using first the download updater for OS 9.1 and then the one for OS 9.2.1, or by using a retail OS 9.2.1 Install CD. This may not be satisfactory.
(2) Boot from an OSX Install CD, and use its Startup Disk control pane to reset the boot OS to OSX on the hard drive. This is often not a convenient solution.
(3) Upon booting or restarting, as soon as the startup chies sound press the X key, keep it held down until the machine starts to boot to OSX. This is perhaps the easiest, no-install required choice.
(4) Update just the Startup Disk control panel in OS 9.0.4 to v. 9.2.1 (that's the version number for the control panel). This is the simplest long-term solution, one which leaves your OS 9.0.4 otherwise untouched. You can download just that control panel from this Apple KBase document -

No, but if you intend to keep OS 9 available on that machine for a while, it would serve you well to get a copy of the retail OS 9.1 Install CD or the retail OS 9.2.1 Install CD. Both of those contain current (for OS 9) versions of Drive Setup and Disk First Aid, hence serve as excelent emergency and trouble-shooting CDs.

One of the reasons for partitioning a drive so that OS 9 and OSX can be installed each on its own volume is to be able to use Startup Manager to select the boot volume at startup. Startup Disk is able to recognize only one OS per volume, specifically the last one booted to on that volume. So, if both OS's are on the same volume, only the one last booted to will appear in Startup Manager's screen. By partitioning the drives and placing each OS on its own volume, either can be accessed at any time in Startup Manager.

iCloud doesn't sync iMessages. They are sent from the iMessage server to your devices, not synced between devices. I don't think you'll be able to get these messages back on your phone, but you should be receiving any new messages.
