i'm tired of my iPhone's caller ID not working long enough. i always have to reset my network settings to get it to work, and i shouldn't have to. if i restore to 2.1, will i lose my game save data? like if i click set up as new iphone? my second oldest setting is still 2.2, i think, i thought it was 2.1 , but when i restored yesterday, it was still 2.2, and i'm still having the same problem, although, admittedly, i'm not having the same 2.2 problems most people are complaining about.

No, only the data and settings will be erased. Follow this article and don't use the backup afterwards and you should be ok.

If you did a complete TM backup, then all your files, users, settings, and programs will be restored. You will have the opportunity to restore using TM at the end of the install. I would back at least my data up separately.
To erase and install (i.e., clean install), start up to your DVD and stop after selecting your language. Use the menus to start Disk Utility and erase your drive. Quit Disk Utility and proceed with your installation. At the end, you will be able to choose to reclaim your settings, files, and apps from TM.

If you can't remember your passcode, you'll need to restore your phone. If you never synched to iTunes, all data on your phone will be erased. No way around this.

Restoring an iPod has no affect on iTunes or your library. Yes you will lose everything on your iPhone. You can, however, recover data from a backup done either with iCloud or iTunes. Do you have any backups?

Otherwise y will have to restore and thus erase the iPod
You can restore from backup
If not in backup then:

Connect your device to iTunes and do the update through iTunes. Using a computer takes much less space on your device than doing the update on your device.

I was having some issues with my iPad. The keyboard was slow and sometimes non-responsive. I have found a temperary fix but would like my iPad to be back to normal (or more so then now). I went to simply computing and was told to try restoring to factory settings. Needless to say I forgot to ask what would happen to my data. restoring the the device to factory settings will completely remove everything, including photos, emails, email settings and EVERYTHING else.
if you are able to login at appleid.apple.com, you can just change your email for your apple ID
if you can't log in at appleid.apple.com, contact AppleCare, they might be able to send you an email to reset your password, depending on a few factors.

....I simply switch to a 4G LTE device?
I am currently using a family members upgrade in order to switch to the iPhone 5. I am not upgrading on my account because I don't have an upgrade. I am simply switching phones. So will I still lose my unlimited data plan? The policy states that customers upgrading to a 4G LTE device will lose their plan. But again, I'm not actually upgrading...just transferring my number to a a new device.

Getting the new iPhone 5 is super exciting! This would be considered "providing your own equipment" if you bring the phone from an outside source, such as another account.
This means you will not lose your Unlimited Data plan. Keep in mind that the warranty provided through us directly doesn't transfer, but Apple still provides warranty for the year you have the phone.

i mean i am not signing up for a new account, just changing my old id primary email which is my apple id login into account.
in other words, www.icloud.com will recognize that it is still me if i login on the site? will i be able to see there all my stored information?
and if i change my password, does it automatically changes the @icloud.com password which should be the same as my apple id pass?

After opening the email it shoud of had you enter the Apple ID and password. Using certian web browser's can cause errors. You can adjust securty settings (big pain) or you use another browser. Using Firefox or Safari should do the trick.
Let me know if using Firefox or Safari resolved it.
