    Yes, but the question still stands as to why they would want to do this when they can get you for the full price over again. It makes no marketing sense to give you a discount on something they know you will pay full price for. I'm not sure Apple is really looking to create a market in used or refurbished iPods. Their revenue is likely to be higher to charge you within an inch of your life for everything you buy and is what they seem to be doing. I agree that it would be a great boost to customer goodwill if they did something along the lines as suggested.

    No, Apple does not offer that kind of exchange.
    If you had a valid problem covered under the Warranty or AppleCare, they would swap it out for an identical item (including same color).

    As far as recycling, they will take one, dead or alive, so I assume a shattered one would qualify just as well.

Now do they send me some sort of shipping envelope so I can mail my Ipod to them for repair, or do I have to mail my Ipod to them myself?     It started when my ipod suddenly stopped playing music. After I contacted support and tried just about every way to get my ipod fixed, I was eventually set up to have it shipped to apple for repairs. After two days, my ipod has returned with papers saying that the technicians at apple were unable to find anything wrong with it. The only problem is that it is still behaving the same way as it was before I sent it off, even though nothing was found to be wrong. My music still does not play and my apps will not sync. I decided to give a restore in recovery mode another shot, just to see if it would work, but the restore still only goes so far before the bar completely stops moving. Now, my ipod won't restore or come out of recovery mode, and I'm getting desperate. I thought having it sent off would fix all my problems, but nothing has changed. Please, can anyone help me? I don't know what to do anymore...

    Accidental damage is not covered by the warranty. That includes damage due to dropping the iPod. However. sometime the Genius at the Apple store ill exchange it at no cost. Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
    Otherwise the exxcahnge price for the a 8 GB 4G is $99.
    However, first try restoring the iPod. Maybe it will rresolve the problem.

    ...Apple is sending it back to me because "No problems found." I sent in my iPod because the bottom volume button was at first hard to press and now it only works sometiems when I press it. I CLEARLY described that the bottom volume button only works half of the time and I took the time to give them my iPod so I basically just gave them my iPod for no reason?
