If I set up my iPhone 4S as 'New Device', can I restore from my previous backup afterwards?
I need to restore my iPhone as I have forgotten my 'Restrictions Passcode'. However, I do not want to lose text messages. I know if I back up my iPhone before I restore it, the text messages will be saved on iTunes. If I restore it as a 'New Device' (which is what is required to unlock the passcode), will I then be able to sync my information (texts, music, apps, etc) that have been backed up? Please help!
Well, if it were easy to get around this, there wouldn't be much point in having a restrictions passcode to begin with. You can try something like this to extract your messages, from your backup:

I just recently upgraded from a 4S to a 5C. I backloaded the 5 from Itunes and now everytime i plug into itunes, it asks if I want to set up as new or restore from a previous backup. Why is it doing this. I did it twice yesterday..... In addtion, those are the only options I have. I cannot do anything else unless I choose one of the two. Zero options. Phone works fine though.
I figure that either of those options will result in losing all SMS and data created since the last backup. Not a major loss, but ** annoying when nothing has changed and the time it will take to restore.
When was the last time you synced your iPhone with iTunes since the backup is updated as the first step during the sync process?
Is there anyway to recover this WITHOUT having to do a full restore or set up as new?
In a word, no.
If I do restore or set up as new, how do I know it's not going to do the same thing tomorrow (like a few other forums threads I've read indicate might happen)?
There is no way to know for certain but I've never experienced the same in the first place. I venture to say having to do this is the exception rather than the rule. -
Can I restore from an iTunes backup after setting up as a new phone when a full reboot/restore has been carried out?
As @wjosten says. Note, however, that it is important to NOT sync the phone after resetting it. A Sync will overwrite the backup that you want to restore.

Yes, with the password you can unlock the backup.

I have an Iphone 4 (OS 4) - upgrading to Iphone 4s (OS 5) - then I begin the set up of Iphone 4s, so I say set up as a new device or restore from a backup?
I have already backed-up and synced my Iphone 4 to Itunes (not to cloud because I didn't upgrade the old phone to OS 5). I am scared to death to try this and when they give that choice I am not sure which to pick..any help would be greatly appreciated.I would suggest restore from a backup if you have the backup available. This way settings and other items will be restored once the process is complete.

My phone is disabled and I can't do a system restore from either the PC or phone as need the passcode for PC which I can't remember and the home button is not working on phone so I can't do a reset by pressing home and sleep please help!!!
Sounds like Recovery mode times out before the download is complete. Try the following method

Were the missing photos in the camera roll on your iPad 2? The backup only includes camera roll photos.
If they were, but were not restored from the backup, if you still have the iPad 2, import the missing photos to your computer (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083) then put them in a folder and sync them to your new iPad by selecting the folder on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing. (The only downside of this approach is that the only way they can later be deleted from your iPad is to sync them off again using iTunes. To get them in your camera roll you would need to use an app like PhotoSync to transfer them from your computer to the camera roll on your new iPad using you wifi.) -

Do you mean iTunes library?
iTunes account is what you use to make iTunes purcahses.
iTunes library is what is on your computer.

No, it tells you it can only be sync'd with one iTunes library.
Simplest way is to copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder (thisis the iTunes library) from old computer to new computer. -
I just got an iPhone 5s, and I restored from a previous back up (mistake) and now I can't restore the phone to start again without "turning off the find my iphone setting" but it's using an old email address as the icloud login, which i don't have a password to / never used for an icloud account. I have gone and changed my settings to a different email on my icloud / apple ID but on my phone it won't let me change the email address for icloud, it's greyed over and keeps trying to verify?

If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

I bought a new iPhone 5 a few months ago, and havnet plugged it into my itunes until now, and I do not want to set it up as a new phone, because it will get rid of everything I already have on there, but I also dont want to restore from my last backup with my old iPhone 4. I want to add music that i have on my itunes, but i dont want to start over fresh. PLEASE HELP!!!!!
Those are your only choices.
You should simply transfer everything from your iphone to your computer. Then you can sync it back. -
I live in Canada. Each time I travel to the US, I lose all calendar entries. I have to erase all data, then restore from an iCloud backup. Tedious. iPhone 4, iOS 7.1, sync set to all events. I only use the default calendar. Do I have an incorrect setting?
I did find another point worth mentioning.
I use my iPhone 4 with a corporate Exchange email account. I had deleted the account from my phone just before I did this backup/restore process...and I thought my battery drain was much, much better (if not outright fixed).
Later in the day, after seeing my battery life improve to near-new behavior, I re-added my Exchange mail account. Considering I have 1 yahoo account and 3 gmail accounts, the Exchange account adds a 5th email account.
What happened? Battery drain back to "worst case". Removing or re-adding the Exchange account is like toggling between decent and terrible drain conditions.
Bottom line is that I re-added a couple dozen applications and battery life didn't change. By far, the Exchange account drains the battery worse than any other app and setting. This account must be polling very frequently and since people tend to send very large file attachments to that account, perhaps those effect the battery drain even though I have the account set to not download attachments.
Anyone running Microsoft Exchange might be able to confirm what I see? If so I can open an enterprise ticket with Microsoft and bug them on this issue.
