If i sign out of icloud on my mac, will find my mac still work?

Under System Preferences - > iCloud, I have enabled "Find My Mac" and I want to use "Back to my Mac" as well.
I have a very simple question...
Will either of these features operate if I sign out of iCloud in the preference pane?  I would like to make it a little more secure by requiring authentication to access or disable these features.
Thanks.

No.
Also, if you sign out, your contacts, calendars and bookmarks will stop syncing. iCloud is designed to be left signed in if you are using any of the services it provides.

  • How to sign out of icloud on a mac, save calendars?

Hi there. I just bought a new iPhone 5 in Australia (I'm from NZ). I created a new Australian iTunes account and want to use iCloud with my mac and iPhone. How do I sign out of iCloud on my mac without deleting my calendar and notes? It seems I have to delete my calendars on my mac to sign out. Thanks in advance!

    Calendars.
Export them to your desktop before you delete them, you can then re-import them once you have changed accounts.
    Notes.
Move them to the 'On my Mac' account before deleting the account and move them again to the new account once you log in.

  • Will find my ipod still work if my ipod is not signed into my icloud??

I just recently lost my ipod and i know that find my iphone doesn't work unless there is wifi connected to it but will it still work if my apple id was deleted?

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up. Of if FinfMyiPod was turned off
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have to iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.

  • Will find my iPhone still work with my iPod Touch 2Gen with iCloud?

Once I'm forced to upgrade my MobileMe account to iCloud, will I still be able to find my (and my sister's as well) iPod Touch 2nd Generation running iOS 4.2.1? or my mom and dad's iPhone 3G (non-3GS) for that matter?
I am really less than impressed by iCloud's system requirements and the vast load of devices that worked together and now with iCloud suddenly don't. It really doesn't reward the longtime Apple customers.
    Andrew.

If you erase the device and re-configure it for you and your Apple ID, then he cannot track you without knowing your Apple ID and password. And, be sure you enable Find My Phone via iCloud preferences on your computer.

  • How do I sign out of iCloud just on one device? And will deleting my account on iCloud completely delete the account or just on this one device?

I am sharing an iCloud account and I want to sign out of iCloud! But when I go to settings and my iCloud account the account name is ge
Grey as If I can't change it.

That means the Restriction is set that prevents changing accounts. Go to Settings>General>Restrictions and unset it so you can delete the account.
Deleting the account for one device does not effect the account on other devices.

  • I had to change my apple ID due to someone else using it and changing the password, so now i can't sign out of icloud as the email is wrong and i dont have the password to turn off find my iphone. Help!

Basically, someone was hacking my apple account for a while and kept changing the password so i kept resetting it, now i've had to change my email as icloud still wouldn't accept my new passwords - even after being updated. Now i can't sign out of icloud due to it being the wrong email and an unknown previous password, as i can't turn off find my phone.ipad. How do i solve this without losing everything as i can't just delete the account and the usb ports on my laptop have gone so i can't back up to my laptop. I'm running completely on icloud but desperately need it to update so i don't lose all my uni work as well off my ipad.

If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID and that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

  • Had to change my Apple ID because the original email address is no longer valid.  How do I change the iCloud user name on iMac?  I found instructions about signing out of iCloud and signing back end.  It asks questions about contact, etc.

Had to change Apple ID due to email address no longer valid.  Trying to change id for icloud...saw direction online about signing out of icloud and signing back in...when it ask questions about contacts, photos, etc. being deleted how do I answer those?  That just sort of freaks me out.

For the ones that give you an option, select the option you want (keep on the Mac or Delete). For the ones that are simply warning you, click on Delete from Mac.
They will all come back when you sign back on, since all you did was change your existing Apple ID to a new email address. It's the same iCloud account, just with a different name.
It's the only way to get your updated ID signed onto iCloud.

Could you guys help me to sign out this icloud's ID and game center's ID from that phone for me, or anyone knows how to do this, please mail back to me. Id : "[email protected]" Thanks.

As far as I know you can't delete the primary email address for an iCloud account.  It's assigned when the account is created.  But your neighbor wouldn't have been able to get into your iCloud account without your Apple ID and password.  Are you sure the account wasn't still on your phone when you gave it to him?
You could migrate a copy of your data to a new iCloud account but I would still be concerned that someone else was using my old account, which presumably still has your data in it.
I'm fairly certain that you're going to have to have iCloud support help you sort this one out as they may have the ability to make changes to an existing account that users can't.  Make an appointment with the genius bar at a nearby Apple store and have them take a look at it.  If necessary, they should be able to contact iCloud support for you.

  • Sign out from iCloud : Forget Apple ID

    Hello,
I can't sign out from iCloud : I use Google to search the answer why but didn't get right answer or direction how to solve.
~ My Apple ID is blocked, because I write wrong passwords many times.
~ My email address was deleted when I left my job (It was [email protected])
~ I don't remember question answers and other related information to fix this problem from iforgot
~ Find my phone is on - I bought this Phone (used with box and everything clear) six month ago.
~ I live in Tbilisi, Georgia, where is not any apple story and official support center
What can i do ? I can provide my Passport and ID if needed and answer all questions related what  I download and use through this Apple ID.

  • Can I lock a iMac using iCloud if someone sign outs from iCloud?

    Hi everyone,
I just wanted to make some tests on my iMac. I activated "Find My Mac" through iCloud. When I am signing out from iCloud (Control panel on OSX's system preference) iCloud.com is showing no device to track. Also, if I change account on iCloud the device cannot be tracked.
    My question is;
If my iMac gets stolen and if the theif sign out from iCloud or change iCloud account can I still track or remote lock the iMac?

No. The Mac/device has to have had the 'Find My...' app enabled, and thus be signed in, be on, not wiped, and able to connect to a network.

This article contains the only thing that worked for me.  I also had to sign out of iCloud and uninstall it.  Then I had to delete all files and folders from all of those applications that were under Program Files, Program Files x86, Program Data and Users.  My iPhone 4 will now sync with iTunes both in its USB-connected  mini dock and over Wi-Fi.  It's unfortunate (negligent programming on the part of Apple?) that the upgrade to iTunes 11 did not remove all of those files as part of the upgrade process.

I am having the same issue....Same address for years - same as USPS - I tried 5 times (3 macs and 2 iPhones) and now i have 5 CHARGES for 1.00 each on my credit card. I took the credit card info off so they don't charge me anymore. How can they charge me yet still not allow me to download free updates and say I have an invalid address? I'm sure I will spend weeks or months trying to get a credit out of these incompetent idiots.

  • I can't sign out of icloud from my iphone

I keep trying to sign out of icloud from my iphone 5S, bc none of my apps are syncing anymore. I though I could trigger Notes and Calendar to begin working again if I singed out and then signed back in?  But when I tap sign out, it asks if I want to save or delete data, no matter which option I choose, a dialogue box pops up saying "Signing Out" and a timer circle just keeps running and running and never signs out????

    Yes. Try:

  • Cannot sign out of iCloud after updating to IOS8

I recently upgraded my iPad Mini with Retina display to the latest IOS version 8.1.2 on 12/27/14. After doing so and restarting the iPad, it repeatedly keeps asking for an iCloud password...like every 3 seconds. The thing is, it has signed me into my wife's iCloud and not mine. I have tried to enter her password over and over and it will not accept it. I tried to reset the iPad to factory settings, but to do so it requires me to sign out of Find My iPad which requires the iCloud password, which it will not accept. I have tried to reset her password on iCloud.com but I cannot sign in, which leads me to believe that my wife has forgotten her password. So I then tried to have her password reset by selecting "iForgot" and filling out the required info to send an email verification for a password reset, but no such email ever arrives in her inbox. So basically at this point, the device continuously asks for a password that I cannot provide and to reset it to factory settings I must provide said password that i cannot provide. I have tried to reset it to factory settings through Settings/General/Reset/Erase All Content and Settings AND through iTunes to no avail.
I have tried all options on this page If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud. like has been suggested to others on other threads I have read, and nothing works.

You must (a) verify which account was used to lock the iPad (Find My iPad), and then (b) recover the password. There is no workaround for this (except off to an Apple Store with proof of purchase, they may unlock it).
