If I sync my ipod to a new computer will any saved progress on my ipod be safe?

Hello! So, I have a new laptop, and was able to transfer everything from my old computer to my new one. And now I want to sync up my ipod to this one. My only worry is, if I sync up with my new laptop will any game progress be lost? I.E. I beat a few levels on Angry Birds, would syncing up to my new laptop force me to redo all the levels again?

The best way to get all app data transfered is to connect the iPod to the new computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up. Then restore from that backup. Not that the backup that iTunes makes does not include synced media like apps and music.
As david said, some game data/progress is stored on servers wheil other is stored in the iPod and balso contained in the iPod backup.

I recently bought a new laptop because my old one crashed.  The only backup I had for my music was on my ipod.  My new computer will not recognize the ipods music and I can't transfer anything.  It keeps asking me to sync the ipod to this computer, but I'm scared to lose all my music.  I want to transfer some of the music onto my iphone but I can't.  I'm very frustrated and wish I knew more about computers at the moment!?!?  What do I do???

You will need the help of some sort of 3rd party software to help you copy the content from your Shuffle back to your PC.  Once you have done that, you can reimport this music into iTunes and configure it to sync to your new Shuffle.

    Yes, you will.
Do you have the songs still?
You could add them to your new library if you do.

Yes, it will. Try using TouchCopy (http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/index.php) (automatic transfer), or iExplorer (manual transfer of files).

  • If I sync my iPod to a new computer, will it erase the pictures on the camera roll?

I just got a new laptop and I wanted to sycn my iPod with it. My iPod is currently in sync with my desktop at home. I added all the information on my iPod to my new computer (i.e. music, podcasts, general pictures, contacts, etc.) but I don't know how to save the photos on the camera roll. If I sync with my new computer, will it delete the photos on the camera roll?

go to "COMPUTER" look for your ipod. open the folder. look for you pictures. highlight them. and drag them to your computer....

  • HT1202 old ipod on my new computer, will I lose my old music

as the title says for some god awful reason I seem to not have transfered some of my old purchases to my new computer and vice versa so before I lose my music I want to make sure it is safe to sync.

    Hello there outpost_2,
First here is some information about what the Transferring Purchases function does:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1848.
Essentially you can transfer the purchases you have on your iPod to the New computer. If you have songs on there that were not purchased from the iTunes Store, then they will not transfer.
If that will be an issue then I recommend copying the library from the original computer the iPod used to sync with to the new one. Use this article for assistance with that:

I am about to sync my iPod to my friends computer, but in my own account, will it automatically delete my songs that i already have on my iPod?

  • If i sync my iphone to my new computer will i loose everything?

if i backup my phone to the new macbook, will my iphone loose everything or just the music?

Ah...Apps are iTunes content...photos synced to your phone are considered iTunes content, so yes, they will be erased.
By design, iPhone syncs or manually manages iTunes content with ONE computer at a time. Each time you switch computers, all iTunes content is first erased from your phone, to be replaced with the content from the new computer.

  • Connecting ipod to a new computer

My laptop just quit working on me and I really don't want to have to add all my songs into this new computer. If I just hooked up my iPod to this new computer will all my songs show up in my new iTunes Library?
    Thanks!

  • I am trying to put the music from my ipod onto my new computer. After installing itunes and connecting my ipod touch a message comes up saying that my ipod is already synced with another library. What can I do to sync it with a new library?

I recently got a new computer and got rid of my old one. I am trying to put the music from my ipod touch onto my new computer but keep getting a message saying that my ipod is already synced with a library and cannot be synced with more than one. How do I access that library on my new computer and if I can't are their other ways for me to put the music on my ipod into my new computer?

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your ipod. Only if you back up your iPod manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPod to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your ipod without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your iPod for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the ipod for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread:http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0
