If I turn off Mac Mini Mid2011, LED doesn't turn black.

I turned off the Mac Mini Mid 2011. BUT, the Mac Mini's Light(White LED) doesn't want to turn off and the only way to COMPLETELY shut down is to force shut down.I'm worrying about bad sectors so I'm asking.
Is there any way to solve?

I just want to know if I turn off iMessages and iCloud Back up, and ONLY use SMS myself and my family just SMS's me - and do this on my PHONE ONLY and not touch his ipad (so he doesn't know), if he will get any of my messages I send or receive on his ipad please. Its just a temp thing and I just want to take action myself on my own phone and want to know if this will work. Does anyone know?
SMS messages will not go to the iPad Mini. It's not capable of receving them. If you have access and can do it without it causing a problem, remove your iPhone from the Apple ID Support profile:
Go to: https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do
Log in if not already logged in.
Click on "Edit Products"
Click on the "X" to the right of the product.
Click "Unregister"
If anyone in your family uses iMessage, they will go to both you and your boyfriend unless you do that.
To be completely safe, you may want to simply use an alternate message app such as Skype, Viber, Whatsapp (assuming everyone has a smartphone) until the issue is resolved. Google Voice will also allow you to send and receive texts to another number on your phone.
Best of luck.

My iphone turned off by itself and it doesn't turn on, What should i do????

IIf the battery was completely drained it might take some time before the phone will respond. Wait at least 30 minutes with the phone connected to the charger. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. If the phone starts up let it continue to charge until it's 100%.
if the broken button will not let you do the reset Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • My iphone 3gs turns off by itself and sometimes doesn't turn on

My iphone 3gs sometimes just turns off... The screen would go white for a second and than it shuts off. Sometimes i can just press every button and it won't change anything so i think my phone is broken but than it just comes magicly on. It doesn't matter if is plugged in or not it just happens randomly and usually when it happens once it happens another few times when i turn it back on and after i turn it back on i have to be really carefull because a little hit on the back side and it wpuld turn off again. Also a month or so ago my phone fell and half of the screen is cracked.
I got the phone from y so it was used but i don't think she had any problems with it.
    Pleaseee heeelppp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It sounds to me like you may have a loose connection inside the phone, battery connector or sleep/wake switch. I say this because you mention that tapping the phone on the back seems to cause it to shut down.  I would recommend taking it to Apple or a trustworthy repair shop and have them look it over.

  • Emptied trash of iphoto, turned off Mac in middle to stop process but lost most photos. Trying to find them...

I deleted my photos in my iphoto library as I thought I had backed them up to my harddrive. However, when I emptied trash of iphoto, I worried I hadn't saved them and could not stop it so I turned off Mac in middle but when I turned on Mac, there were only 3000 images left out of the 8000 original photos. Can I retrieve them somehow or are they gone foreve

When you empty the trash in iPhoto the photos will/should be moved to the System Trash in your Dock. Have you looked there, if there are still photos left? Then drag them out of the Trash.

  • Mac mini 2,1 won't turn on

    Hi Guys,
i have a really big problem with my mac mini.
    It won't turn on.
I don't think it can be the power brick as I can get the mini to start up by holding down the power button whilst plugging it in.
This is the incorrect SMC reset procedure and I get fans runnning top speed and no LED light.
When i startet with this method, everything works.
    Ah ups i forgot:
    I have all resets done!
    NVRAM
    SMC (and by reset switch)
    New Battery
    Bought a new power adapter
    etc

    Hi,
Witch power adapter you bought ?
I have the same problem i bought a 85w pwer adapter and my Mac mini don't work anymore and i replace it buy a 110w and it works fine .
Probably you are in the same case.

  • Mac Mini Power PC won't turn on

    Hi
I am concerned about my Mac mini. It's 4 years old and never has given me problems, but today, I cannot get it to start. The white light won't even turn on. Nothing works. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I had it off for a few days, and I have it connected to a powerstrip, which I sometimes turn off to save on electricity. I always turn the Mac Mini off properly (not using the powerstrip), but i am not sure if my PRAM battery needs replacing (did some research online about PRAM batteries) or something else could be causing it not to turn on. Any suggestions? Thanks guys.

I would first check the obvious. Ensure the power strip is on and the mini power supply is plugged in. Then ensure that the end that connects to the mini is fully inserted in its slot. That may seem obvious, but rotating my old G4 mini to insert a usb or firewire cord was often enough to unseat teh power connector just enough that it wouldn't work.
Next step would be to grab a multimeter (if you have one) and ensure the power supply is well, supplying power. I know, the next question there is what are the values and the pins to test. Don't know off the top of my head, but before doing it, I would head over to Google, as I am sure someone has posted that info on the web somewhere.
Only then would I begin to worry that my mini has decided to look at a career change.

  • When I turn off my mini, and at other random times, i get a message saying I need to restart my computer

When I turn off my mini, and at other random times, i get a simple message that says I need to restart my computer.  any suggestions?

The message to restart your computer, in multiple languages, is a kernel panic. This is usually, but not always, caused by hardware, with memory being the leading cause.
You might want to run the Apple hardware test, which is on the original gray-faced OS X disks that came with the mini. FInd the one that says 'AHT Version x.x' in small print on the label, insert and reboot holding the alt/option key down. Choose the Apple hardware test, and when prompted, choose the extended test. You can also download Rember from http://kelleycomputing.net/rember/ if you want to really test the memory. Set it up and let it run over night.
See this kernel panic FAQs for other ideas: http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/kernelpanics.html

    Whatever
Push the power button and hold it until the mini shuts down, then start it again.

  • Can't turn off Mac after burning DVD.

I burned a DVD of images for a client on my MBP 15" Retina (i.e. latest model) on the USB Superdrive. It ejected fine and seems to have finished correctly.  However I had a message that the disc burn failed but that I could try again.  When I tried to turn my Mac off I got the message "The Finder is about to quit. Click Continue to eject the disc without burning “Untitled Disc” to it."  There was no disc in the drive (and I also tried this with a new disc in the drive with the same result) but I clicked continue, the window closed but the MBP stayed resolutely switched on.
I've since burned another DVD in the hope that that would make the Mac 'forget' about "Untitled Disc", but it hasn't and I can't turn off my computer!  There doesn't seem to be a hard 'power off' button like my old 17" MBP either.
There's no DVD disc image or folder called "Untitled Disc" that I can eject or delete.  Any advice on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Richard

    Open Terminal (Utilities Folder) type
    drutil eject
    then hit enter.
    You may try also
    drutil eject external
    then hit enter.

Hi , and a warm welcome to the forums!
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
    If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
And sorry to report that OSX is more Widows like than ever, but….
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

  • Lock screen - does it really turn off ipad mini?

....because i do this and i still hear the email chime.
i know i can go under sounds and select none for email. i know i can mute the whole ipad.
does it really power down when i tap lock screen?

Ive had 3 iPads now including a Mini and I have never really seriously used the off/on switch at the side of the device. I find that as long as I power down all the hidden Apps so that all of them are off, it sleeps without loosing much power. I only turn off my Mini in theaters...
I only have one hand so I can't do a reboot using both hardware buttons, that's my issue?
