If I update to Lion from 10.6.8, will Adobe CS4 "upgrade" work?????

I have Adobe CS4 from an "upgrade".  Will these adobe programs work if I upgrade to Lion?  Please, need an answer ASAP, so I know whether to make my next computer a Mac or a PC!!!!  It is absolutely ridiculous that my friend, who has at least 8 PC computers ( including business computers) is able to use all features of icloud using Win7(which is 16 months old), and I cannot use it on my "Apple" antique using 10.6.8(which is only 9 months old)  (2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) for the same purpose.
I have never even had a PC, always an Apple product.  Now I get slapped in the face, HARD.  Apple just killed me for EVER buying another Apple computer, if I am unable to use ICloud with my computers which WILL run my adobe products.  I also have an IMac Intel Core duo 3.06, two IPads and a new Iphone.  and now I am done with Apple products I guess, if I have to update to Lion to use ICloud with a computer.  Especially if Lion doesn't support my current expensive suite of CS4(UPGRADE), and other Apps.  What on earth is Apple trying to do, phase out of computers totally? Have a relative who works for Apple, and no one can figure out why the company is so favoring the PC people.  The only thing I can come up with is that Win7 is a far superior program to OS10.6.8, and is likely vastly superior to the current joke of "Lion", and the upcoming "Mountain Lion".  At least Snow Leopards have some dignity, and honesty in their "live" form.  "Lion" is aptly named after an animal widely known for killing and eating cubs of its own species.  Mountain Lions are sneaky, creepy stalkers, who attack suddenly without notice, and kill animals off efficiently and quickly.  Male Mt.Lions also are known to kill the young of their own species, even their own cubs.  I guess these new OS's are aptly named, as they certainly are killing off those who have been faithful to Apple for so long.
I can buy a PC running Win 7, with the speed, programs, etc., that I need, for far less than a new, comparable Mac, which it seems will require me to purchase all new expensive Apps. (Adobe CS+), etc.
Why is Apple unable to either 1) offer its previously totally faithful adherants the ability to use its ICloud service using 10.6.8, which only came out 9 months ago (while Win 7 and Vista users can use the service easily), or at least make its new OS, work with expensive Apps owned by people, which work on 10.6.8, but will not work, so I hear, on "Lion" (and presumably not on "Mountain Lion" either).   Apple is/has turned into a predator of the worst sort, without a single thought or care about previously faithful customers.   WHY?
Also, off my wagon and back to my question;  will an "UPGRADE" of Adobe CS4 work with the latest updated "Lion"?  Thanks!

I went to that page.  Basically, it didn't specifically answer my question, or I am too dense to find the answer.  I understand that there are a few problems with Photoshop, which is the main use (of mine).  I could live with what it says.  I also found that there were problems with CS4, and using the brush tool, when I updated to 10.6.8. Found a fix to that by updating my Quicktime.  Why that works, I have no idea.  I am not a computer whiz, in fact at the other end of the spector, but read on a discussion that this updating of Quicktime worked, so tried it, and it did!
This community is a life saver for me.  I live in rural Wyoming (I guess all of Wyoming is rural.....) and no one knows anything about Macs.  All my problems have been solved by you great people!  And I thank you !
My present concern is:  I read somewhere else, that if my version of Photoshop, which is CS4, was purchased as an "upgrade", which it was, then maybe it will not upload to "Lion", as maybe the disk (upgrade), I have, may use Rosetta, which is NOT included in "Lion".   What I have read is that I would have to have a "new" (not an upgrade) version of CS4 in order for it to work with "Lion".   Anyone out there know the answer????  Photoshop users?????
Geniuses????  If you know, please help me out here.  I love my Macs, but really am irritated that the friends I have tried to talk into buying Mac computers, but didn't, now can enjoy all the advantages of ICloud, with an older version of their computer program (Win 7 OR(!!!)  VISTA,  and I cannot !!!!  Here I sit, with my 2 beloved Macs, both fairly new, 2 IPads, a new IPhone, and I am the one that cannot use ICloud??????  Was it in fact made for PC people, who have become Apple consumers through iPhone and iPad, and not made for the faithful, longtime Apple consumers????  HELP!!!!

Ok 1st one. The warning restriction message relates to this line in main.cf:
    smtpd_helo_restrictions = permit_sasl_authenticated  permit_mynetworks  check_helo_access hash:/etc/postfix/helo_access  reject_non_fqdn_hostname  reject_invalid_hostname  permit reject_invalid_helo_hostname
The last reject occurs after the single word "permit" and is ignored.
    However, that's not the problem.
I'm not exactly sure what's happening, but this might be a clue.
It would appear that either postfix is not being able to create the socket for private/policy or it's somehow created with the wrong permissions.  You might need to ramp up the debug level to get a better idea.
You could check if it's being created by "netstat -a | grep private/policy" in terminal.
My guess is that it's not being created because there is no setup statement in your master.cf file, but I don't understand why postfix would be looking for it if it isn't set up.  Private/policy I think relates to grey listing.  Maybe gives you a hint.

  • If I upgrade to OSX Lion from 10.6.8, will I keep all of my current files, bonjour, email, apps, and everything? Forgive my n00b-ness of upgrading an OS on a mac.

If I upgrade to OSX Lion from 10.6.8, will I keep all of my current files, bonjour install, printers, iWeb sites, documents, email, apps, and everything? Forgive my n00b-ness of upgrading an OS on a mac.. this will be my first upgrade of OS.

You will keep the apps and printers, but they may or may not work.
Quicken for Mac is gone for example because it requires Rosetta to run. Lion does not support Rosetta which may lead to some older printer/scanner software to no longer function.
    Just a few of many.

  • Advice on updating to Lion (from Leopard)

    Hi everyone,
I have an early 2008 MacBook, version 4,1.
    Specs:
2.4 GhZ Intel Core 2 Duo
    2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
    160 GB
I'm currently running Leopard, which means I would have to buy Snow Leopard and then buy Lion through the Mac App Store.
Has anyone else done this and would you advise me to do the same?
    Thanks!

Only if you need to upgrade. If you wish to use iCloud then you will need to upgrade to Lion. If you upgrade to Lion you will need to meet the minimum requirements:
    Lion System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
If you upgrade to Lion I would recommend installing at least 4 GBs of RAM provided it is supported by your model.

  • Is Mac OS X v10.7 Lion compatible with Microsoft 2008 and Adobe CS4?

I am looking to upgrade my Macbook Pro to Lion and need to ensure that the following applicans will still work? Any know issues that I should be aware of before upgrading?

I'm finding that Adobe CS4 isn't so fine, at least InDesign CS4 and Illustrator CS4. I researched this yesterday before I upgraded to Lion and couldn't find anything other than the possible issue with Java Runtime. I installed Lion and updated to Java For Mac OS X 10.7. However, both InDesign and Illustrator crash when I attempt to print. As soon as I select "Print" the spinning rainbow ball appears for a short time, then the programs crash. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

  • CS4 Upgrades work from CS2?

This is a followup to my question about CS2 on Leopard.
When I look at the CS4 upgrades, they all say "from CS3". Will they also work from CS2?
Is this what the reference to "tiered pricing" was about?

As Buko says, don't buy the CS3 to CS4 upgrade. There is a separate CS and CS2 upgrade which you must purchase.
The price is the same as the CS3 to CS4 upgrade until the end of April.

  • Does Updating To Lion From Snow Leopard Delete All Existing 802.1X Profiles

    Hello.
I Was Just Wondering If I Installed Lion On My White Macbook Running The Latest Version Of Snow Leopard, Whether My 802.1x Profiles Will Be Migrated Across Or Deleted.
    Many Thanks

I did, and my profiles are gone, and if you look at other posts, they cannot be easily added.
I am accessing my 802.1x profiles when I start up from Snow Leopard, and my question would be how I could import the profiles from Snow Leopard?

  • Unable to update to Lion from 10.6.8

Lion update frpm 10.6.8 not working over wifi - "buy-now" button does not get a response apart frm spinning wheel Tried changing "Location" as suggested in on-line help but no joy. Anyone know how to fix this?

Hmmm, the only thing I've used the app store for is to download Lion, so I'm not real knowledgeable about it. But, sometimes it helps to clear all settings so you can start fresh, so...
First, make sure you're signed out of the app store/iTunes. Depending on which browser you use: Reset Safari (make sure you get history, caches, cookies) or Firefox (Tools in menu > clear history/cache/cookies).
Then go to your Users folder > Library > Preferences and put the following files on your desktop or trash (don't empty yet):
    com.apple.storeagent.plist
(that is the background app that scans your hard drive when you launch the app store)
log out/in and try it again.

im using iphone 3GS with ios 4.1;the iphone is purchased from USA and unlocked;I live in India so if I update to IOS 5 will my phone get locked? if so how to unlock in that case? please help

No 3GS sold in the US was ever unlocked officially. Any attempts to update a hacked or un-officially unlocked iPhone will likely result in it being relocked to the original carrier.

  • I recently updated to Lion.  Suddenly my screen will get big.  How do I get it back to normal size?

I have tried esc, command + control + F, holding down the control key and scrolling with the mouse, tapping on the mouse, and making a pinching motion on the mouse.  How do I get my screen back to normal size?

Of course, it's not doing it now.  But when it happens, it's like the whole view gets bigger and I then can only see a small part of the view.  Which is what you described in the first sentence of your message.  I followed your directions and zoom is already marked as being off.  But, as I said, it's not doing it right now.
I guess I really don't understand your second comment about resolution.
And I guess I want to know what's causing it to do this.  I think there's something in Lion that it you tap on the mouse, it makes the view larger, but I am not conscious of tapping on the mouse.  And, even so, there ought to be a way to return to normal without having to go the system preferences each time.  Right?
P.S. I love your kitty picture.

  • Will Adobe photoshop CS5 work on iMac Lion

I just purchased an Imac after years of using Windows HP, I thought it would be a lot better product. Have only heard good things about Apple.
I loaded a bunch of music and photos on my new mac, then there was a recall on my hard drive after 3 days.  So I lost all the stuff I loaded.
I then download lion once I got my mac back from Apple.  Purchased an older version of Adobe photo shop.  Called the help desk becaues it would not load.
So they took me back to snow lepord,  again,  losing all stuff on harddrive,  just to find out it would not run it.
So I wanted to purchase CS5  Because I do a lot of photo editing.  But on the requirements, it says, Max os-x 10.6.1.  So the lion is 10.7.1.  I called apple again and the help desk told me that apple jumped the gun on the lion and there are not a lot of programs yet that will run on it.
So I am not very happy:(.   Does anyone know if CS5 will work on Lion?

So sorry for your bad experience so far. I will spare you my "That never happened to me story"! As to your last question, yes it will run, meaning you won't get the error saying this is PowerPC software and won't run on Lion. But there are some reported problems within the software - this is from Adobe's own site: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/905/cpsid_90508.html#main_Photoshop Scroll to the top to see that this is a list of known problems with Lion, listed by application.

  • Installed Lion, any known compatibity issue with Adobe CS4

So far so good, everything seems OK but was concerned with Photoshop CS4 as I had heard maybe some issues, anyone had any good/bad experiences?

it appears as though their may be some issues.  Read what Adobe has to say :http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/2011/07/photoshop-and-lightroom-compatibility- with-mac-os-x-10-7-lion.html Hope this helps
