If I upgrade to CS4, is the license for Elements still valid?

I'm hoping someone here has been there.  I've purchased an upgrade to CS4 and was wondering if anyone here could answer a couple questions.
a) Is Elements a more home-oriented, unique product in its own right, or does CS4 render Elements completely pointless?
b) Does the Elements license become invalid if you upgrade to CS4?
I'm not really an Elements user, I purchased E6 because I came across a CS4 upsell deal that made me pull the trigger. (been using GIMP) and can't find the E4 box that I never did get around to opening to install.  It's be nice to get into Elements though, to see just how much value is there with the app and the plugins all at work.

The painful part is I HAD the original CS 8.0 on the Mac.  LOL.  I had just forgotten it due to having an Intel Mac and kind of overlooking it.
(Turns out it runs pretty decent via Rosetta).  So yeah, I got CS4 Extended for $320.  Nice to finally own it.
I think I'll have fun using it now and then or maybe a lot if I use my camera enough.  So I guess now the question is, can I give away or sell 8.0.  LOL.
Since CS4 isn't tied to CS 8.0...you didn't use it for an upgrade...yes but you have to transfer ownership to give it away or sell it. (If you ever use CS4 to upgrade, CS4 and it's subsequent upgrades are all tied together as in you can't sell or give away any one portion...they are considered one item.)

  • Windows 7 upgrade: discs will include the option for a 32 to 64-bit upgrade via a clean install?

I would like to know whether the Lenovo Windows 7 upgrade discs will include the option for a 32 to 64-bit upgrade via a clean install?  I called Mentor today and was told the answer is no, but I was hoping someone here could tell me differently.
If "no" is truly the answer, I would like to voice my complaint: The upgrade discs from Microsoft (i.e. the retail upgrade discs) include both the 32 and 64-bit versions, so I don't completely understand why Lenovo's upgrade program doesn't offer the same thing.  I purchased my T500 in August, and back then Vista Ultimate 64 was not offered, so I chose Vista Ultimate 32 thinking that I could later upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate 64.  This assumption was based off of the info. on Microsoft's website indicating that all upgrades would contain the 32 and 64-bit versions.  I even customized my computer with 4 gigs of RAM thinking that I could take advantage of the extra gig once I installed Windows 7 64.
I don't understand what Lenovo or Mentor Media have to gain by restricting a 32 to 64-bit install.  I voiced this opinion to Mentor Media over the phone, who responded by saying that I should be happy since I am receiving a "free" upgrade.  I don't think this is an accurate assessment for two reasons: (1) I had to pay $17.03 for shipping, and I still haven't received the upgrade and (2) The total cost of my computer was almost $3,000, and the purchase was made a mere few weeks before Windows 7 was released.  $3,000 is a lot of money.  I waited for the details of the Windows 7 Upgrade Program to be announced BEFORE purchasing my machine.  When I finally bought my computer I accounted Windows 7 into the price I was paying.  In addition, when I bought this computer I did so expecting good customer service as a given.  Not providing a 64-bit upgrade without a rational explanation as to why does not qualify as appropriate customer service.
As most of you know, 4 gigs of RAM is useless with a 32-bit OS.  Also, NOW Lenovo is building new T500s with the option of having Windows 7 Ultimate 64 (why wasn't Vista Ultimate 64 offered when I bought my computer???).  And the price for choosing Windows 7 Ultimate 32 is EQUAL to the price for choosing Windows 7 Ultimate 64, which proves that there is no cost difference.  I just want to know what Lenovo has to gain by denying customers a 64-bit upgrade?  There would really be no additional cost since as I mentioned before, Microsoft's retail upgrade includes the 32 and 64-bit OS on one disc.  If anything I would think that it's costing Lenovo money to strip the 64-bit install from the upgrade discs.
Can anyone please address my problems?  Do you think there is anyone at Lenovo I could contact to voice my opinions?  I have been a loyal Thinkpad customer for over 5 years now, and I expect better from Lenovo.  Thank you for reading!

Is there any way to request a 64-bit OEM?  Why should Lenovo care whether I want a 32-bit or 64-bit as long as it's the same edition (Ultimate edition)?
if your system shipped with a 32-bit version of vista then you will be sent 32-bit windows 7 upgrade media.   the reason for this is two-fold.
first, because this is upgrade media, it's impossible to install a 64-bit version of windows over a 32-bit version.   doing so would require a clean installation and upgrade media simply won't allow this.   this is the case with retail media, too.   if you had 32-bit vista installed and wanted to upgrade it to 64-bit using retail media, you'd have to wipe your system or set up a dual-boot.
second, the COA (certificate of authenticity) on the bottom of your system is for vista.   because of this, your new license is of an upgrade from vista to 7.   this is how microsoft licenses it and it is their policy, not lenovo's.   microsoft's policy with OEMs is that you must install vista first, then upgrade to 7 (unless, of course, you purchased your system native with 7 on or after the 22nd).   since your original lenovo preload is of a 32-bit OS, the issue becomes circular and you'll have to refer again to the first reason.
i understand your frustration and wish this stuff were made easier for everyone.   it's repetative reading post after post of people with 4GB installed who don't understand the limitations of a 32-bit environment.   i wish both manufacturers and users switched to 64-bit OSes sooner.   the same thing happened when the industry went from 16-bit windows 3.11 to 32-bit windows NT4/95 and limitations went from 16KB all the way up to 4GB (which, in 1995, no one thought we'd ever exceed).   the difference is that people were complaining on BBSes over 14.4k modems instead of on GUI-based forums using broadband connections.   times sure have changed.

That depends. If you bought the disc version, you're good to go, since your serial number works on both platforms, so just install the mac version. If you lost the discs or your mac doesn't have a disc drive, you can download it here:
    Download Photoshop Elements products | 13, 12, 11, 10 <https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/photoshop-elements-10-11-downloads.html>
However, if you bought the windows version as a download, you're out of luck. Adobe does do a crossgrade, but for older versions you have to pay to upgrade to current version on the new platform, and that's more expensive than just buying it, if you search around for a good price.

  • Caculate the license for Small web application

    Hi,
I am usimg MS product to develop appliction . And now i am interest in JSF. However, the license's caculation seems very complicate and there is no good development tools.
In MS product like C#, I just buy the development tools only. It included the license for MSDE. And the Web server is free. It is very simple. It is easy to migrage from MSDE to SQL Server when needed.
How about the JAVA environment ?
Sun Java Studio Creator + Tomcat + MySQL ??
How to caculate the license ? There seems some hidden license free for production environment. How can I develop an application in test environment only ?
I perfer the environment is :
Sun Java Studio Creator + Tomcat + MSDE
So I can upgrade to SQL if needed for long run.
    Any idea ?
    Thanks
    Wilson

Sun Java Studio Creator comes bundled with Sun Appserver (for deployment) and pointbase (database) for development.
i.e Sun Java Studio Creator + Sun Appserver + Pointbase
Once the web application is developed you have the option to deploy to any J2EE compliant Application server such as
    Tomcat
    Websphere
    Weblogic
    JBoss
    etc ..
Similarly you can use any database such as
    Oracle
    MS SQL server
    Sybase
    MySQL
    etc ...
as long as you have the proper JDBC driver (which most vendors provide).
The web application devloped by JSC is J2EE standard based. So there is no hidden fee involved to deploy to any other J2EE compliant Appserver or to use any standard Database that has proper JDBC driver.

  • App-V 5.0 Sequencing Office 2010 - Cannot verify the License for this Application KMS

    Hey Guys,
i already found some Topics about my Problem, but None of the Solutions i have found, help in my case. I hope someone can help...
I Sequenced Office 2010 Professional Plus x86 on an App-V 5.0 Sequencer Client (x64) and streamed it to Windows 7 x64 and Windows Server 2012. While i was sequencing, i followed the Articles at
http://blogs.technet.com/b/office_resource_kit/archive/2011/06/15/sequencing-office-2010-for-app-v-part-1-considerations.aspx and also used the Parameter:
    msiexec/i OffVirt.msi ADDLOCAL=Click2runMapi,Click2runOWSSupp,Click2runWDS,OSpp,OSpp_Core PROPLUS=1
In the sequencing Process anything ist working fine, i can start Word, Excel... and Office is activated. When i publish the Application and stream to the Client or RDS, i get the Error message in the Screenshot.
I also tried to create a new Package and type in the KMS Client Key directly to Office, didnt work. In a third Sequencing Process (also new Sequence) i tried with an another Script what i have found: msiexec /i OffVirt.msi PROPLUS=1 KMSSERVICENAME=”SERVERNAME”
    KMSSERVICEPORT=1688
    Please help!!
    Best regards

I am having this same exact issue; however, I have done everything in the App-V 5.0 Sequencing document, and I have enabled Set-AppVClientConfiguration -EnablePackageScripts 1.
The sequencer is on a Win 7 32-bit machine, so I used the following:
    msiexec
    /i OffVirt.msi ADDLOCAL=OSpp,OSpp_Core PROPLUS=1
KMS is registered in DNS, so I shouldn't have to specify KMS.
As soon as I start Office on a machine, setup screen comes up briefly, and then I see the:
"Microsoft Office cannot verify the license for this application. A repair attempt failed or was canceled by the user. The application will now shut down."
I would use the package accelerator; however, it's a new Pro Plus 2010 build, and it says 12 files are missing from the install (files like the actual OffVirt.msi and manifest files).
This is getting a little frustrating, as I've already tried the package 4 different times. I also tried this version:
    msiexec/i OffVirt.msi ADDLOCAL=Click2runMapi,Click2runOWSSupp,Click2runWDS,OSpp,OSpp_Core PROPLUS=1
I am also using the latest SP2 client, Sequencer, and then the AppV 5.0 SP1 server is using the latest hotfix 4 which was released in April 2014.

Are you sure you're in the right library? You have three library folders on your mac: system>library (Never touch that), your username>library and a library at the top level of your hard drive. You want the last one. In recent versions of OS X it's not hidden, but it's hard to get to it. The easiest way is to into the finder preferences>Sidebar and turn on Show Hard disks. Then the name of your hard drive will appear in the list on the left side of any finder window. Click it and the library you want will be in the top level of results.

  • Re-install How do I keep the licenses for software such as iWork

    Hi,
I am considering doing a reformat and installation of my MacBook Pro. It came with Tiger and I have purchased/installed Leopard(family version) and iWork(family version).
How do I keep the licenses for these products and still keep the used count the same? I don't want to purchase new licenses because I had to rebuild my computer.
    Thanks

There is no "tracking" of installations. With a "Family Pack", you have agreed to install on no more than five computers at any given time. It's up to you to honor the agreement. You can reinstall as many times as you wish or need as long as you limit your installations to five computers within your household at any given time.

  • Who could give the license for the use of the songs?

    Hey guys
Does anybody know the real names or authors of the songs "Dogma" and "Strategy" (both under "Intense" list) and also "peach Cobbler" (under "Cheerful")?
Basically, I need to know who could give the license for the use of these songs. Do you know any companies that license them or is Apple?
    Thank you
    Sinisa

    Apple's license agreement says:
You may use the Apple and third party audio loop content (“Audio Content”),
contained in or otherwise included with the Apple Software, on a royalty-free basis, to create your own original
soundtracks for your video and audio projects. You may broadcast and/or distribute your own soundtracks that were
created using the Audio Content, however, individual samples, sound sets, or audio loops may not be commercially or
otherwise distributed on a standalone basis, nor may they be repackaged in whole or in part as audio samples, sound
libraries, sound effects or music beds.
So you're fine as long as you add something to the loops or jingles - what's forbidden is to distribute one of them as a song. But that's probably not what you want to do.

  • The license for Visual Studio has expired.

    Hi everybody,
Well, that's the thing. We were using VS2013 Professional with a Microsoft License, but one month ago, an advice was sent to my e-mail telling me that the license that we were using will expires in 30 days.
We decide to remove it, and install the new VS13 Community edition. I've registered in visualstudio.com and everything works fine. The last week I began to implement my own script in order to compile automatically the project. The problem comes when once
I call from my .bat file the vs compiler (devenv.com), my script spits me this pharagraph:
Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 Version 12.0.31101.0.
Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp. All rights reserved.
The license for Visual Studio has expired.
    Class not registered.
Looking for object with CLSID: {6C4024E7-5DEC-4EEC-B3F9-55B3F3AD1E9E}I think that some license file of my old VS2013 professional is still being referenced by the VS community, but I don't why.Has anyone suffered this kind of situation? Of course, I've removed the old vs2013 professional, and every related stuff, but something is going wrong. How can I remove every single license file of VisualStudio from my computer. Please Help!ThanksJuan,

    Hello Juan,
“I think that some license file of my old VS2013 professional is still being referenced by the VS community, but I don't why.”
It is possible that some shared components left on your OS, for example, please see here:
    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2771441?wa=wsignin1.0
So if you want to remove all components, please do the following:
    1. Use the /force command to remove Visual Studio fisrt, it will also remove shared components
    2. Refer to the tool
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2005/07/01/using-msiinv-to-gather-information-about-what-is-installed-on-a-computer.aspx after you uninstalled VS. It will list all installed components on your OS, if you still find any VS related components, remove
them by using the command msiexec /x <product code>.
Then I think you've performed a clearn uninstall and please check whether you still get this error.
    Best regards,
    Barry

  • $20+ dollar movie purchased but BBW says "The license for ... has expired. You will need to purchase this content again.

Last week I purchased and my credit card was charged for "Lee Daniels' The Butler".  With tax, this was a $23.72 purchase.  The download started but then stopped at 1 or 2 meg (out of almost 2 gig).  The error give is "The license for Lee Daniels' The Butler has expired.  You will need to purchase this content again."
My credit card has been charged & I just want the movie.  I have tried refreshing BBW but that did not work.  What else could I do to make this work.
    Best regards,
    Paul

I have the same issue with The Butler, Escape, and the Last of the Mohican. I've called BlackBerry on this and they say it's a carrier issue. How is that possible? I didn't know Rogers controlled the product purchased in BlackBerry World. What needs to be done before we get some straight answers? File fraud charges???

  • How do you set the duration for multiple stills in iMovie 2013?

How do you set the duration for multiple stills in iMovie 2013?
Before upgrading to the latest version of iMovie last month, I was able to set the duation of all of the stills included in an iMovie project at one time by clicking the apply to all still box in the adjustment pop up. That option is no longer apparent. If it is available I cannot find it, and I have tried several different ways to accomplish it. I have tried the iMovie help section and can find nothing to help.
Apple, do I really have to adjust close to 500 pictures to a 5 second duration individually???
    REALLY??!!

...why wouldnt people want that level of accuracy when animating, especially when working to music at a specific duration?
Because often people are animating to words or beats in the music.  Music is rarely performed with a computer-precise beat and tempo.  Musicians aren't robots: they swing the beat sometimes.  They use rubato.  They change tempo.  They change time signatures.  As a result, you have to FIND those words and beats.  It's not a situation where you can say, "There!  I've found the duration of one beat!  Now it's easy to find the rest of them!"
If you try it, you will be very disappointed.
Try finding the precise end of a piece of music that fades or ends on a big chord with a ring-out.  You'll see that it's trial-and-error: what's the point where it becomes inaudible?  It depends on how high your speakers are turned up.  You might have them way up, you set an end point for the layer, and then you do a RAM Preview at a more reasonable volume.  You might say, "Hey!  The music ends before the layer ends!"...  but you KNOW you set the layer's out point when the audio file goes silent.
AE has layer markers that can be used on an audio layer to mark beats, words, etc. They come in very handy.
I guess it comes down to this: because AE can do so much different stuff, there are very few automated procedures.  Oh, Adobe tries with effects that convert audio levels to keyframes, but they're not 100% reliable... especially on something like a capella choral works.  For true accuracy, you need  find the timings yourself.
If you want something simpler, try a different application. But be prepared for lower level of accuracy.
