If I Upgrade to Infinity will I lose my current di...

A wee question for you knowlegeable lads and lassies if that's OK.
I joined BT in December on a 'six months free' discounted package for Unlimited Broadband. The exchange in my village has now been upgraded to fibre which I would like to get however if I am unsure if I would lose the remaining couple of months of my discount.
Is it likely that I would lose my discounts upgrading now?

I managed to keep my discount!
The Options Team let me do a (minor) upgrade from Infinity 1 (with 20Gb limit) to Infinity 1 Extra (with 40Gb limit and increased upload speed) while keeping the balance of my 6 months discount! Double the limit was really worthwhile as 20Gb was almost unusable!
Of course there were no extra costs to BT in the upgrade I did - which is likely to be the difference!

  • HT5429 I like the GPS Map APP presently on my iPad2.  If I upgrade to IOS6 will I lose the current APP?

I have an IPad2 and have been very happy using Google maps and the asssociated navigation.  I also use Golfshot which relies on the embedded GPS.  Will I lose all that with the latest software upgrade?  Or can I have both?

Google map app has been replaced by Apple Maps in iOS 6.
I haven't updated my iPad 2 yet. iOS 6 doesn't add much for iPad 2.

Use a program such as the Disk Utility, Carbon Copy Cloner, or SuperDuper to back your entire system up to an external drive.

If I upgrade to maverick will I lose my installed Office Word and Excel for Mac

You shouldn't, but it would be a really good idea to make a clone of your existing installation using Carbon Copy Cloner before upgrading. That way if you have any issues with Mavericks it's very easy to go back. Without the clone it's a lot more difficult.

No, but that does not mean that you should not backup first, unless you like taking chances that is.

  • Will i lose my current app settings if i upgrade my ios?

Will I lose my current app settings if I upgrade my iOS from 3.0.1 to 4.3.3?  Such as, will I lose my contacts, email settings and all my levels in Angry Birds (and other obviously very important items like that)?

    Don't know why you would.
You should be syncing all of this with your computer regularly, so everything (contacts/calendars/etc) should be on your computer anyway.  When you sync your iphone itunes performs a backup which would contain the app data and settings.

if I upgrade to this will I lose everything on my computer that is saved?

Since you are posting on the Snow Leopard forum I will assume you are asking about an "upgrade" to SL form Tiger or Leopard.  The answer is no.  Upgrading does not erase apps, data, docs etc.
That being said, it is always good practice to back up your files before doing an upgrade.  Better safe than sorry.  External hard drives are dirt cheap.

If I upgrade to Yosemite, will I lose access to Entourage?  I use Entourage for my emails, and am comfortable with it.  Thank you!

You may if you switch to Outlook. It is the component with which there is a problem in Yosemite.

If I upgrade to Lion will I keep my current bootcamp with XP installed working?

OS X Lion: "Some features of Mac OS X Lion are not supported for the disk (volume name)" appears during installation
Normally, and if you didn't change the number or resize the partitions, should be fine.
I don't think anyone can guarantee anything, which is why backups are essential.
You can even install Lion to an external drive as well.
For Mac, you can clone your system and have a bootable backup; use TimeMachine.
For Windows, there are various tools to backup data or partitions.

  • If I upgrade my macbook pro from snow leopard 10.6.8 to mountain lion, will I lose any current software, files, or need to reinstall or reset anything?

I want to be sure that I won't lose things like microsoft office (I need excel for work) or my word files. Will I lose anything by upgrading to mountain lion? will I need to reinstall things or spend a lot of time restoring and resetting to get things set up as I have them now?

Probably not. Back up your computer first, and ensure that your applications are compatible wih Mac OS X 10.8; Microsoft Office 2004 and earlier aren't.

  • If I create a new Apple ID, will I lose my current stuff on iTunes?

So, my current Apple ID is under an email that I deactivated (it was hacked into). I wanted to create a new ID using my current email. But will I lose everything on my iTunes library if I get a new one? Meaning is my music and apps and whatnot saved to my comuter or the application itself versus my Apple ID? I know that if I create a new ID that I can just transfer everything from my iPod to iTunes, but I have a 2G iPod Touch and it's a real pain in the neck when I sync it to iTunes (freezes/gets stuck/really slow).
Sorry if this is a really dumb question.
If this helps: I use the newest version (10.6 I believe? Just downloaded it a couple of days ago) for Mac.
    Thanks (:

If you change ID nothing is going to reach out and delete files from your computer but anything requiring authorization would be problematic because they would be tied into your old ID. So, updating apps, or any movies you have, old DRM music...

  • If I restore my iphone from back up will I lose my current data?

I backed my phonne up to itunes and  I would like to restore that data (since then somethings that were backed up have been deleted) but those are the things I would like to retreive I just don't want to lose things that haven't been backed up if that makes any sense?

Yes, if you restore a backup then you will lose your current data.  You can choose one or the other ...
Unless somehow you have the old data you want as well as the new data on your computer or somewhere else (not in your iPhone backup).

  • If I upgrade my phone will I lose my unlimited plan???

I was told a while back that if I were to upgrade my phone it would alter my plan and I would no longer have my unlimited everything plan. I was wondering if this is true and if so what is the reasoning behind that???

No what I told you is exactly what transpires. At one time it may have happened and it can be a glitch.

It states the toggle to keep unlimited is there. However the gotchas get it removed.
Verizon is using any trick to get unlimited data from customers.
Just calling customer service in some cases has had it removed. Resetting your device or adding any feature is now being shown as a chance of losing it.
