If I upgrade to ios5 on my I-Phone 4s, all my pics, all my song,and all my app, will be deleted?
All photos transferred from your computer should remain on your computer.
Photos/videos in the Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. The Camera Roll is for temporary storage.
All music and all apps on your iPhone should be in your iTunes library on your computer.

There are very good external drives available...I bought one when I got this MBP in September from OWC, http://www.macsales.com they are Mac specialists. Bought their 2 TB Mercury Elite Pro since it was eSATA, Firewire 800/400, and USB interface...use the Firewire 800 now. Partitioned into a 1.5 TB partition for Time Machine backups and 500 GB for extra storage. Both show up on the desktop, you just set the destination for you application to be the external drive volume you want to use.

If you update correctly yuyr apps wiull not be deleted and you can restore from backup. Just make sure that all theapps are in the library of he computer and that there is a backup of your iPod. Thenupdate and if necessary, restor from backup. Also see:

I own Final Cut Pro 6 and have been running it on an older G4 tower. I upgraded to a MacPro tower and the app will not install. I get a message "Not supported on this computer" cannot believe this. Help anyone.

Upon upgrading to Yosemite, the Pages and Numbers apps will not open (although they are the latest versions) and Keynote will not upgrade; how do I go about getting the apps to open? Is this a common issue?

Welcome to the Support Communities! When did you purchase your Mac? The first thing I would suggest is to review the information in the resource below for the Up-To-Date Program for Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.
Once Yosemite is installed, you should have the option to Accept the Pages, Numbers and Keynote apps in the Mac App Store Purchases pane.

Every time since I upgraded this morning, attempting to open Aperture causes a crash. I upgraded to Aperture 3.4 this morning, and now it will not open at all! It crashes every time, and tries rebuilding the library and repairing most times. The Library open fine in Iphoto

Since yesterday morning about 11:00 I have been having TERRIBLE email problems on this iPad 3G. Email comes in (I hear the sound) but nothing displays -- no folders, no content, no nothing in e-mail. The blank email screen shows up and then disappears after about 10 seconds, taking me back to the Home Screen.
Right now, the only way I can see email on this device is to log onto AOL via the AOL app.
I have been doing a lot of online reading about the problem. It has to do with iOS 8.1.3 and it affects older iPads and iPhones. I'm having no problems on my iPod touch, which -- fortunately -- is so old it cannot update its iOS 6.
I waited to update the iOS on this iPad until iOS 8 was "mature." That was about 2 weeks ago.
Anybody know know if Apple is aware? working on a solution? -

I just upgraded my i pod to the newest version and after doing this my whole music and all my apps are gone. It's like i just bought my i pod touch. Please help me.. I'm frustated..

However, if the apps and the music were not in your iTunes library they would be erased from the iPod as part of the update and would not be readded to the iPod since music and the apps themselves are not part of the backup but are synced to the iPod. -

Does anyone else experience this problem?
When I try to edit photos in the photo app and in the camera app
I try to crop them and the system will randomly crash. Giving me
either a circle ticking logo on a black screen or the system will
reboot completely with a black screen, Apple logo, and then
back to the lock screen.I have a PC running Windows Vista so what I had to do was in iTunes make sure that all my photos were SYNC'd with my pictures directory. After that when I was sure that I had all the photos that were on my iPhone in my windows pictures directories then I deleted all my pictures off of my iPhone. In order to do this once you plug your iPhone into your computer via the 30 pin dock connector cable, and after the computer recognizes your iPhone, a window will pop up in Windows that shows your device. iOs will allow you to open up a file folder that contains your photos.
Note: there may be several file folders depending on the library size of your pictures and if you have photo stream enabled. In my case I had four folders and these folders or a combination of numbers and letters. These folder names are randomly generated through iOS but just be aware that these folders contain your photos and videos. I know that one folder was just my photo stream because I did not have very many pictures, and two folders had my entire photo library and camera roll in them and another folder had just my videos in it.
The process is pretty simple: once I open these folders, I highlighted all my pictures and deleted them. Once they were deleted off the phone then I went into the iTunes "summary" page for my iPhone. I then went to the "photos" tab and I made sure that the box was checked to sync my photos. In my case I don't have my entire photo library on my phone so I have selected folders button checked. Then I just SYNC'd my phone again. It didn't take too long for iTunes to transfer all my photos back to my phone. After this process was complete I checked all my photos and tried to crop them and had no problems. I also did some screen captures on my phone by pressing the sleep/wake button and the home button at the same time. Again I tried to crop photos and had no problem.
So what I believe with the expert advice from Adam Christiansen of the Mac cast podcast was that I had a corrupt photo file or corrupt metadata from a photo file. So what this was doing was causing a system crash and reboot in iOS. I was able to verify this in my diagnostic files on my iPhone in the settings / general / about / diagnostics and usage / diagnostics and usage data TABS.
I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU AS IT ALLEVIATED MY PROBLEM. I HAVEN'T HAD ANYMORE PROBLEMS WITH THIS ISSUE AND WHAT I'VE DESCRIBED ABOVE IS A WAY TO DO IT WITHOUT RESTORING YOUR ENTIRE IPHONE. IF YOU STILL HAVE PROBLEMS AFTER DOING THIS THEN YOU HAVE ANOTHER PROBLEM WHICH PROBABLY REQUIRES THAT YOU DO DO A COMPLETE RESTORE OF YOUR IPHONE. BUT BEFORE YOU DO THE RESTORE MAKE SURE THAT YOU BACKUP YOUR IPHONE AND I WOULD SUGGEST DOING THAT TO YOUR COMPUTER AND NOT TO ICLOUD; MY REASON FOR THIS IS THOUGH ICLOUD IS A WAY TO DO IT IT JUST TAKES MORE TIME TO RESTORE FROM A BACKUP VIA ICLOUD AS OPPOSED TO A TETHERED BACKUP VIA THE 30 PIN DOCK CONNECTOR CABLE TO YOUR COMPUTER. -

Couple of things to try:
Restart your mac and try launch iPhoto again.
If that fails:
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a file called ‘iPhoto’Lock.data or similar. Drag it to the Desktop. Make no other changes. Start iPhoto. Does that help?
If not: Where is your iPhoto Library stored? If it's on an External Disk, what format is that?
