If i upgrade to mountain lion. how many computers is it good for?

If I pay $20 for the update, can I update 3 computers?

You can upgrade 5.  You need to be "in control" of all 5 (no updating your neighbor's Mac).
Recall that the AppleID that purchased the ML is the only lne that can download again.
Here is a procedure tha can be used to make a thumb drive copy of ML (do not immediately install after dwnload but make copy first): https://discussions.apple.com/message/16639520#16639520

  • How many computers is FCPX good for?

I heard final cut is good for 5 computers and in all honesty if it was good for more than one thats fine with me.  The real question is i just bought an imac and know that i will be buying a mac book pro in the future, if i buy FCPX how long will the application be good for.  Lets say i wait 6 months to a year to purchase a macbook pro will FCPX still be good for that computer?

Since it is a download from the AppStore, it is probably dictated by the maximum number of authorized devices/computers.

  • I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 with bootcamp 3.3 on my Imac 2011. I need to updgrade to mountain lion. If I first upgrade to mountain lion, how do I go about upgrading from bootcamp 3.3 to latest bootcamp for mountain lion?

I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 with bootcamp 3.3 on my Imac 2011. I need to updgrade to mountain lion. If I first upgrade to mountain lion, how do I go about upgrading from bootcamp 3.3 to latest bootcamp for mountain lion?
I have seen a lot of discussions upgrading from Boot Camp 4 to 5 but no answers upgrading from boot camp 3.3 to 5. My worry is that if I upgrade from snow leopard to mountain lion, that my bootcamp partition will no longer be able to boot up. There seem to be a lot of threads suggesting problems that are possible. Has anyone gone through this upgrade with success?

Before doing any installation restart OSX from your 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD and use Disk Utility to Both Repair The Disk and Repair the Permissions of your Macintosh HD.
Next remove your Snow Leopard DVD and restart your iMac into OSX.
Update to the latest version of OS X Snow Leopard by clicking the Apple icon and choose Software Update to install Snow Leopard v10.6.8, the latest version.
Use Time Machine to make a Full Backup of your Macintosh HD.
Shut down and restart into Windows by holding the Option key at the chime and selecting Windows.
Now use Windows Backup to make a Full Image Backup of your Windows Installation to a removable drive.
Shut Down and Boot back into OSX.
Open the Mac App Store from your Dock to buy and download Mountain Lion. Then follow the onscreen instructions to install it.
Upgrading your OSX to 10.8 should not effect the Windows Partition at all since you are only upgrading the Mac side. You should not have to run the Boot Camp Assitant 5 Utility in OSX at all.
Your Boot Camp 3.3 Windows Support Drivers et. al only effect your Windows installation and should continue to run fine after upgrading.
Which version of Windows do you already have installed on the existing Boot Camp Partition?
Is it 32 bit or 64 bit?

  • Question about upgrading to Mountain Lion on two computers with two different users

I am running Lion on my MacBook Pro, and I intend to get the Mountain Lion upgrade. Someone else in my household has an aluminium iMac running Snow Leopard, so I was wondering how to upgrade that computer as well, considering that it has a different user with a separate Apple ID.
Can I open App Store and log in with my own ID temporarily to download the update? Or can I save the bandwidth and login-switching and burn an extracted installation disk image to a DVD and put that DVD into the iMac to upgrade from 10.6 to 10.8?

Yes you should be able to upgrade all the Macs you control in your home (including children at college) from one downloaded copy of Mountain Lion.  Just make sure you make a copy of the installer before attempting to install it on the first system, as the install process deletes the installer when finished, so you want that copy before the install starts or you need to download it again.
You can make an installer DVD, or you can copy the installer to the other Mac(s).
Also large capacity USB thumb drives are dirt cheap theses days (assuming you do some on-line shopping <http://dealmac.com>).  DVD is fine as well.

  • Pre-installed Mountain Lion ; How to download ML from Appstore for free

    Hi,
I've just purchased a macbookair that came with Mountain Lion 10.8.0. I wanted to download ML from appstore to make a bootable USB key for a future clean install, or just in case of trouble. But there is no mention for me to have it for free in the appstore, i have only the message that it is already installed on my computer.
The only apps that appears bought are "ilife" which i guess i will be able to download. Why Mountain Lion doesn't appears as a bought app ??
    Thanks for your help.

Thanks a lot for your reply. It's very precise and helpfull. I guess i have to learn a little more about that Internet Recovery.
From what i understand, in case of trouble, i have no free way to boot from an usb key to repare my disk but there are already in my mac tools to repare a disk in trouble. Internet recovery allows me to download again my system if there is a big issue.
I've had a lot of macs since more than 20 years but it's the first time that one came without an installation disk.
I guess, it can be a good thing, but it's always safer to have a physical and without internet way of re-install a faulty system. It's a little strange not beeing able to download a thing you already have, installed on your computer.

  • HT204053 I don't have an icloud icon on my mac. how do I set-up? I did the upgrade to mountain lion.

If I don't have an icloud icon on my mac systems preferences. how do I set-up icloud? I did the upgrade to mountain lion.

Then you haven't upgraded to Mountain Lion.
Check inside your /Applications folder for something like "OS X Mountain Lion Installer" and double click it.  If the file doesn't exist, you'll have to downloaded/buy it from the app store.
If you did make the purchase already, open the app store (under the apple >> app store) and then click Purchases at the top of the app store window.  It will ask for your apple id and password.  Do you see Mountain Lion listed?  If so, then download it.  If not, click on Featured and look for mountain lion in the side bar on the right and you'll have to buy it.

  • Lost use of word for mac 2004 when upgraded to mountain lion OSX

IVe just upgraded to Mountain Lion OSX and lost use of word for Mac 2004. how can i get in to work again

Office 2004 and Other Applications Don't Work in Lion/Mountain Lion
If you have Office 2004 which is a PPC-only suite, it will not work in Lion/Mountain Lion. You need to upgrade to Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion/Mountain Lion.
You may want to consider as well:
These two suites are similar to Libre Office but not as current or as well-supported:
    NeoOffice
    Open Office
And, then there is Apple's iWork suite:
Pages - word processing and layout
    Keynote - presentation
    Numbers - spreadsheet
Each can open and save Office compatible files. They may be purchased separately via the Mac App Store for $19.99 each.
As for other software, any PPC-based software will not run in Lion or Mountain Lion because Rosetta is no longer part of OS X. You will need to upgrade to Intel versions of the software.
(Access to the Mac App Store requires Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or higher and an Apple ID.)

  • Help! My events disappeared after upgrading to Mountain Lion!

I just upgraded to Mountain Lion 10.8.2 (and signed up for the accompanying iCloud, fyi), but when I opened iCal/Calendar my events were gone. For some reason, my repeating all-day events are still there, but everything else - non-repeating all-day & any time-specific events - is gone. I know that I should have backed up before upgrading, but I didn't. Is there anything I can do to get my events back??? I'm in a slight panic.

I was having the same problem after I completely tore down my Macbook Pro mid-2010 in order to replace the keyboard.  (Phew!)  After re-asssembling, everything was working again except for the screen brightness buttons (F1,F2).  I figured it was a bad keyboard, but after zapping the p-ram, the brightness buttons now work as they should.  Thanks for the tip!

  • No sound on YouTube since upgrading to Mountain Lion

I think this problem started after upgrading to Mountain Lion, but I didn't notice it for the first few weeks, so I'm not certain.  I haven't made any other changes since then.  My husband upgraded his iMac at the same time, and he didn't lose the audio on YouTube.  The sound is fine for other videos.

Most YouTube content requires the Flash plugin ...
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
    Click: Delete All
Quit then relaunch your browser and try a video.
If that doesn't help, uninstall the old Flash plugin >  Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
    Then reinstall new >  http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Very important to uninstall the old plugin first.
Then relaunch your browser to test.

  • My macbook pro starts to pop after I upgraded to Mountain Lion, what can I do?

    Hi guys,
As the title said, my MBP 13" late 2011 starts to have popping sound coming out from speaker a while ago.
It just pop every few minutes and I am very worried.
I did a few research and it seems like there's something to do with the hard disk.
note that this happened right after I upgraded to Mountain Lion.
    comfort me!!!
    Thanks for helping.

    Hey Samuraijin
    /Hug to start with
Well when you did the upgrade the OSX ML uses your drive alot. As you said the popping sound from your research its comming form the drive.  if that is the case.  Check your disk with disk utitlities just incase too see if the drive is still ok.  If its all Green your good if its red it might need replacement.
Note that Popping sound is usually a hardware problem or optical audio problem when using external speakers. instead of internal ones so becareful. My advice would be too be let it slide still the next patch if disk utilities says your drive is fine (Usually after 2 weeks of main realese). After that if its still there you have to get the puppy in for a checkup.
Hope i was able to comfort you in some way

I would wait for Mountain Lion to be released. According to Apple, Mountain Lion will be released by end of July 2012.
It will cost you only $19.99 to upgrade. You can find all the details at the following link...
