If I use Erase all content and settings it will set my phone to new right?
I have an iPhone 4s
OS 6.1.3
I want to make sure everything is deleted, data apps etc and I want to start new again, RESTORE to new
If I go to
Settings>General>Reset> Erase all Content and Settings
that will take my phone to a new state right? I want it to be completely new and to start over
Also I read about people restoring the phone, But is Restore different than taking it back to out of the box status?
I Thought erase all content and settings is the only way to restore the phone to new.
SOunds like you are saying there are two ways to restore to new?
what is the second way?

HT201274 After using erase all content and settings what will the passcode be?
After using erase all contens and settings, will the passcode revert to 0000?
There will be no passcode. The phone will be returned to it's out of the box state. If you did not turn off Find my iPhone before wiping it, you will need to sign in with the Apple ID and password that the phone is locked with.

how do i prepare my iphone 3 to sell ..
i've never been able to download new apps so i don't want to lose the apps that are on there
am i to reset all settings? or erase all content and settings? or reset network settings?Only the apps that are part of iOS will remain on the phone.
If you're going to sell it, use "Erase All Content and Settings".
If you're selling it, what difference does it make to you if the apps get erased? You don't have the legal right to transfer any apps you bought to anyone else. Not to mention the fact that you stated you have never been able to download new apps...
Why don't you just re-post the question in your native language. There are so many contradictions in your post that i don't believe you're conveying the questions you think you are. -
If I erase all content and settings does it deactivate my phone?
my friend bought me a phone on his plan without me being there to be able to put my iCloud stuff on it. I dont have time to go to the store to get it transfered Nor do I have a computer to back up my other phone to put the stuff on this one. So I was wondering if I erased all contents and settings on my new phone to put my iCloud stuff on this phone would it deactivate it to where I would have to activate it all over again?
Yes. Erase All Content and Settings puts the iPhone in the same state as it would be if it just came out of the box.

Does erase all content and settings remove icloud?
Hi everyone
Apologies if this is a stupid question!
I sold my iphone 5 today and used the erase all content and settings function to wipe the phone. My icloud account was turned off on the phone before this. I just want to make sure i have completely broken the link between my icloud and my old phone. I have logged into my icloud and my old phone is not under the list of devices or in find my iphone. The phone is also not linked to my support profile so does this mean i have completely de registered it?
Many thanks in advanceYes. Read here: What to do before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Will erase all content and settings completely wipe my phone clear?
Hello!
I recentely got the iPhone 5S so I'm going to sell my iPhone 5, I want it to be completely wiped so none of my content is there anymore. Would I do this by clicking 'Erase all content and Settings'? Will this completely wipe my phone free and is there anyway of the new owner getting any of my information back?
Thank you!Yes.

I am using iPhone 5 and tried to Erase All Contents and Settings but it is just showing an apple sign on the screen and nothing is happening now for about 3 days now. All it does is eat up my battery and still show apple sign after charging! Help!!!!
Hi DaVince Vince,
I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with your iPhone. I also apologize, I'm a bit unclear what issues you were having that led up to the attempted Erase All, and/or exactly what behavior you are seeing now (restarting, not responding at all, etc). If you are seeing an Apple Logo screen and your iPhone does not appear to be starting correctly, you may find the following articles helpful:
If your iOS device restarts, displays the Apple logo, or powers off while you're using it - Apple Support
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support

Is it possible to hide "Erase All Content and Settings" using Apple Configurator?
How we can hide "Erase All Content and Settings" button from iPod devices using Apple Configurator? we have purchased these devices under enterprise deployment.
not at all. for the moment we handle this problem by writing an image everytime we (think we) have to update the itunes u content. an update becomes necessary when users give us the iPad back and we recognize that there is good new stuff on it or whenever colleagues tell us to do so.
With a new rollout of this image we offer new itunes u content on our iPads. -
Recently I erased an iPhone 3 so that it could be passed on and used by someone else, using the erase all content and settings feature. This has killed my iPhone and it is now stuck on the Apple logo. I have tried a restore in iTunes but recovery fails. This is not a jailbroken iPhone. Anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed?
If you haven't already tried, see if you can force it into recovery mode to restore it:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808. If that doesn't work, the last thing you can try is to put it in DFU mode to restore it: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2648467?threadID=2648467&tstart=0. -
i have an ipod touch 3rd gen.I used the function of erasing all contents and settings and now i am stuck with this screen showing the apple logo and the loading sign for the past 17 hours.CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hold down the on/off button and the home button for 20 to 30 sec, when the iPod starts and the Apple logo is on the screen release the on/off button but continue to hold the home button until you see the plug into iTunes screen. Connect the iPod to iTunes and you should be good to go.

I have reset my ipad using General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. And now it will not boot. All i see on screen is the Apple logo. What do i do?
When you restore, you can restore to factory settings or to a backup. Restoring to factory settings removes everything and takes you back to out of the box status and you start all over again. Restoring from your backup will replace all of your app data, bookmarks, email settings and things like that. You still may need to sync all of your purchased apps and music, photos and so on back to the iPad.
I assume you want to restore from your backup to put all of you data back on the device so connect the iPad to your computer, launch iTunes, right click on the device name on the left side under the devices heading and select restore from backup. After you restore from your backup, make sure that you sync all of your other content with iTunes. -
What happens if a complete erase all content and settings is used
hi new to ipad what haven if a complete erase all content and settings is used.
It wipes your iPad back to the original out of the box state. You'll have a picture of a USB cable and iTunes on the screen and the iPad will have to be set back up in iTunes as a completely new unit. This is very effective if one is selling their iPad and wants everything wiped off the unit.........
