Hi BradSLane,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  This article has one method to find your serial number:
Reporting a lost or stolen Apple product
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2526
If you have lost or found an Apple product, please contact your local law enforcement agency to report it. Although Apple does not have a process to track or flag lost or stolen product, you can use My Support Profile to find a list of serial numbers that have been purchased or registered with your Apple ID.
Go to My Support Profile*.
Sign in with your Apple ID.
View your purchases in "My Products".

  • I have had an iPod stolen - how can I see the serial number in itunes?

Hi, I have recently had my 2 ipod touches stolen and need to find the serial numbers. Does anyone know if itunes stores this informatiom?

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.
    - Apple will do nothing without a court order

Hello! I have one iTunes library on my iPod and one iTunes library on my computer. When I connect my iPod touch to my PC, however, I cannot find any files in my iPod except for pictures. How can I find the music files so I can add them to my iTunes?

    You can't do that.
And before you decide to store any music that you own on a computer at work, talk to your IT department. Many organizations do not permit it for legal reasons. Standard policies are that anything stored on company owned computers is the property of the company. It could not be legally stored on their machines unless you transfer the licenses and all copies, physical and digital, to the company, meaning you no longer own the music. If they were to be audited and could not prove that they own the music, they would be subject to copyright violation penalties. Just use your iPod when you're at the office if you want to listen to music.

  • How can i find the serial number for an ipod classic

I dont have the original packaging or the reciept, It wont connect to itunes or my laptop and all that shows on the ipod's screen is a red circle with a cross inside it. I have tried to reset it but have not been able to. Any help would be much appreciated

If your iPod Classic was the last device that you connected to and synced with your iTunes library, there is a chance you might be able to get the serial # to show up in the Device Connectivity diagnostic report. See here for instructions on running this test.
iTunes for Windows: Device Connectivity Tests
Otherwise, if you have previously registered the device with Apple, you can view it's serial # in your list of devices you have registered under your Apple ID.

  • IPod Nano 3rd gen not detected as a drive in my computer or in iTune

    hi,
i bought a brand new Refurbished ipod nano 4GB 3rd generation and it does nothing when i connected it to laptop, i have Dell Latitude and Inspiron. it is not getting detected as a drive in my computer and in iTunes. I charged it for more than 4 hours and it is not powering on. i tried to restore it by pressing both center and menu buttons at a time, but could not see anything on the screen. i went through the several posts of similar kind and the users have tried them as well but the final feedback was to get it repaired. Is there anything i am missing? i bought a iPod shuffle which works perfect.

I talked to one of the apple authrozied service center, and they requested me to bring it over for their supervision.

  • Formatted my new iPod Nano 4Gb and my application can't find the Device ID

    Hi,
Just bought a new Nano 4Gb, updated it to 2006-06-28 (1.2) and of course it couldn't be recognized by Windows after that. Followed the instruction and formatted the Nano and made a Restore, worked fine!
Now to my problem, when using my application Anapod Explorer (from www.redchairsoftware.com) it can connect to the Nano but it says the iPod don't have any Device ID so it can't authenticate to the iPod...
Anyone more who is using this superb software?
It seems like if some information is missing in the iPod after the formatting of it...
    Please advice!
    Best Regards

    Additional Information:
Since some information seems to be missing on my iPod Nano 4Gb I compared the files with my iPod Video 60Gb.
    Comparing the directories: [driveletter]:\iPod_Control\Device
on my iPod Nano 4Gb and my iPod Video 60Gb
    iPod Nano 4Gb:
The file SysInfo is empty, containing no data when opened in Notepad.
    iPod Video 60Gb:
The file SysInfo is of 1KB and another file named "_unlocked" is present.
The information in the SysInfo file is:
    BoardHwName: iPod M25
    pszSerialNumber: JQ6040HFTXL
    ModelNumStr: MA147
    FirewireGuid: 0x000A270014E1CDBA

    osImageRev: 0x00000000 (0.0 0)
    iPodFamily: 0x00000000
    updaterFamily: 0x00000000
I have done the diagnstic test on the Nano and there are no errors and the iPod Nano is functional but I can only use iTunes to load it with music, I can't use the wonderful Anapod Explorer.
    Another thing:
When connecting my iPod Video to my computer it shows up with a drive looking like an MP3 player, when connecting my iPod Nano it shows up looking like an ordinary disc drive.

  • Does Apple still make games for the iPod nano, and if so how can I find them in the iTunes Store?

I know the iTunes Store has been updated and I haven't been able to find the page with the iPod click wheel games.

The iPod click wheel games were removed from the store about a year or so ago.

  • IPod Nano (3rd Gen): Exactly How many Characters are allowed in a note

And is this with or without spaces?

A note can actually be just about as large as you want.
The iPod will only display the first 4095 characters (including spaces). That's 4kB - 1 byte.
    See this -> http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93850

  • Lost my ipod nano.  How can i get the Serial Number from apple?

Hi everyone, I recently Lost my ipod nano at work. How can i recover my serial number. I did register the ipod throgh itunes. Is there a way I can get my serial number incase someone at my work finds it and returns it so i can give security my serial number to prove that it is my ipod? thanks

    Hello franciscor,
Sadly, there isn't much else Apple can do for you in this situation. However, I can tell you that there are a few other methods that can be used to retrieve your iPod's serial number other than from off the unit itself. Check out this Apple support document for more information. Hope it helps.

  • How do I find the serial number of a stolen Ipod touch?

Unfortunately, we lost the serial number of our touch - now it was stolen. How can we find the serial number - I thought it would be registered under my iTunes-account... Any ideas? Thanks.

You can get the serial number in iTunes by heading to Edit->Preferences.  Then when the window comes up, click the Devices tab and hover your mouse over one the iPod's backup.  It should then display it's serial #.
Or look in the places described here if at all possible.

  • IPOD NANO 3rd Gen problem Apple Mac set up PC BASED MAIN UNIT

I have been asked by a friend to help out because they asked to add music to their new IPOD. But the owner is a tech scared person. They gave the unit an IPOD NANO 3rd Gen to my friend who uses Apple MAC they set up the IPOD with their Itunes and added the songs.
Later they wanted new tracks but have now downloaded ITUNES to their own PC Windows Vista system. The tracks were added to a USB memory stick and transfered and added to the PC Vista ITUNES. But now the IPOD Nano will not register on the Windows Vista ITUNES system but will show up on the "My computer"
I have reset the nano by holding the on/off and menu etc to get the Apple logo, the unit beeps as does the laptop PC Based ITUNES etc but will still not register on the ITUNES or allow me to sync the music from the ITUNES to the IPOD.
Can anyone advise how I can reformat the IPOD or reset the IPOD and remove all music currently on it to start again but get it to register/set up and show on the ITUNES on the windows VISTA unit rather than the mac based system.
    Thanks,
