Well, this "third party" is going to put my old hdd back and not charge me any money (as he did not fix it) but i think its better off taking it to an AASP because i have a feeling Apple store will charge way too much.
The way I read that comment – you seem to suggest the Mac was broken before the third party replaced the disk - is that the case or was it working before the HD was replaced?
Since the Mac is out of warranty you will have to pay for any repairs wherever you take it. Authorised Apple service centres will be able to get parts whereas any non certified technicians will have to use 'grey market' parts since Apple will not sell parts to the public. These may be reconditioned or not official parts - it's a risk to use them. Visit the Apple store & ask them - there is no point in lying about it being handled by a third party. An Apple tech may be able to tell when they open the case, depending on how meticulous your third party was.
If you are handy with a screwdriver & have tools and a lot of patience you could use a guide on iFixit.com, but there is no indication of why this Mac not booting up.
It could be that the disk is not formatted correctly.
Are you sure the tech copied an OS onto the disk? Did they install the OS for you or did they clone the old disk?
Can you boot from a backup disk or from an install disk? Does the disk appear in Disk Utility when booted from another OS (either the installer or a backup).
'Not booting' can mean so many things, what does booting do exactly? Grey screen, black screen, any noises or tones, any signs of life at all…?
If you look at the iFixit guides you will see many fiddly connectors, if the tech failed to hook them all back up it could explain the failure, or perhaps you just have a disk that is 'dead on arrival' - sometimes that happens. A properly trained technician should be able to figure that one out.

This is not Adobe. Rather user to user.
What did you do....purchase an online download of Photoshop Elements 13 from Adobe. Are you within 30 days of the date of that purchase?

  • Is it possible to upgrade my macbook air 13" from 1.86 GHz 128 gb flash and 2GB memory to the 2.13 GHz  256 and 4GB memory, how much would it cost?

About the only thing that "might" be able to do is upgrade the SSD. OWC sells SSD upgrades for that unit. You would have to contact Apple though to verify that no warranty issues would apply when making the upgrade.

  • Hello, my MacBook just fell on the floor and there is a massive smash on the rear aluminum part. Is it fixable? Does the warranty cover this type of damage? If not, how much would it cost me to get it fixed?

PS: I bought it on the USA, but currently living in Brazil . I guess though there is a apple store in the shopping mall.

Accidental damage is not covered by warranty. As to cost to fix, we can not say as we do not know what internal/external components were damaged. Take the computer to an authorized repair center for assessment and estimate to repair.

It is going to be months before any unlocked iPhone 6s will be available.
Also be aware that the iPhone purchased in the USA will only have warranty service in the USA. Any warranty service will require you to bring it back to USA.

  • How much would it cost to replace a cracked trackpad on a 13 inch unibody Macbook Pro

I think I closed my laptop with something inside and when I reopened it, there was a fairly large crack in my trackpad on my 13 inch Macbook Pro. How much would it cost to get the trackpad replaced?

I suggest you take it the Apple Store and allow them to look at it. The may be much more damage then you are able to see.

Apple at this time does not repair iPods, but assuming that that iPod is not in multiple pieces will replace the entire iPod for a flat fee; see the Repair Pricing section here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/faq/
There are independent iPod repair services that may be able to perform a repair for less. Do a web search for "ipod repair". It is also possible to purchase parts and find instructions on doing a repair yourself, though it's not particularly easy. Note, though, that if you elect to have the iPod serviced by an unauthorized shop or perform a repair yourself, all further support from Apple will be void.
    Regards.

  • I want to know how much would it cost me to change the plug of my 4S headphones because it doesn't work and do you take old devices and give me a new one?

I want to know how much would it cost me to change the plug of my 4S headphones because it doesn't work and do you take old devices and give me a new one?

No. That's not what I said. You can get an out of warranty replacement, which will be exactly the same model, color, and will be locked in exactly the same way the original is. If you want an iPhone 5, get the 4S replaced, sell it, and use the money to put toward a new phone.

  • HT4528 If I buy an iPhone 4s how much would i pay every month?

Hi! I would like to get an iPhone 4s, but i don't want it to be too expansive every month. It says that it's starting with $99 so, what i'd like to know is how much would i have to pay every month.. and which one is cheaper the iPhone 4 or the iPhone 4s.. if you could answer my question that will be great! thank you.

Depends on the carrier, the plan, the country, etc.
You can look this up yourself on the carriers website.
In the U.S, the data plan would likely be $20 -30 per month in addition to your voice plan.

  • My MacBook Pro has a crack in its screen, how much would it cost to replace?

Hello. I am a MacBook Pro user. I purchased my MacBook Pro in late January. It is still under warranty according to Apple. The crack in the screen showed up in June, and I have no idea what happened. Does anyone know how much it would cost for my screen to be replaced?

Thomas is right, thats why they only now replace the whole clam shell. Meaning they will replace the whole top screen, glass and top cover that is all once piece.
This is also why it is a very expensive repair.
The the actual lcd is replaceable and generally runs around $150 but getting the glass off is another thing. It is glued to the frame that needs to be heated up to be taken off

  • How much would it cost to get earbud end removed from the jack on my MacBook??

Ear bus end broke off into jack on my MacBook awhile ago. The laptop's warranty is over, so I was just wondering how much it would cost to bring it to an Apple store to have it removed?:) thanks!

We are only end-users like you, not Apple employees, so any replies here would be pretty much a guess. Give the nearest store a call and ask. I'm sure that is a repair they encounter often and can probably quote a price over the phone.

  • How much would it cost to replace a hard drive on a 2011 macbook pro? My old one is full!

I have a 2011 Macbook Pro with the 8gb hard drive. My drive is 99% full. I am a photographer and the pictures I have take up 90% of my drive. I have Carbonite so they are all backed up. I can get an external hard drive and dump the pictures there but I would rather keep them on the computer. I can upgrade my OS and increase my memory at the same time.  I can do it myself but my concern is I also have a large iMovie library and I'm not sure what will happen with that if I use Carbonite to restore the new hard drive. Carbonite cannot answer that question.  Will my local Apple Store even do this for me?
    <Personal Information Edited by Host>

No, not  your memory. "Memory" refers to RAM. What you need is "storage space." Storage space is on the hard drive. Were I you I might think about buying a larger HDD to install in your computer. Remove the one you now have and put it into an external enclosure. That is your backup for now as well as what you will use to boot the computer so you can setup the new internal drive.
How to replace or upgrade a drive in a laptop
Step One:Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Step Two: Remove the old drive and install the new drive.  Place the old drive in an external USB enclosure.  You can buy one at OWC who is also a good vendor for drives.
Step Three: Boot from the external drive.  Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager appears.  Select the icon for the external drive then click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Step Four: New Hard Drive Preparation
      1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
      2. After DU loads select your new hard drive (this is the entry with the
mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of
the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive
is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  Otherwise, click on the
Partition tab in the DU main window.
      3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from
the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended
(Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to
GUID  then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and
wait until the process has completed.
      4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the
drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main
          window.
      5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the
Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to
          return to the Erase window.
      6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several
hours depending upon the drive size.
Step Five: Clone the old drive to the new drive
      1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
      2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
      3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
      4. Check the box labeled Erase destination.
      5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the
          Destination entry field.
      6. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the
          Source entry field.
      7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the new internal drive. Source means the old external drive.
Step Six: Open the Startup Disk preferences and select the new internal volume.  Click on the Restart button.  You should boot from the new drive.  Eject the external drive and disconnect it from the computer.

  • I'm looking to format my 2007 MacBook. How much will it cost?

    Any ideas?

Nothing. You do not have to pay in order to format a hard drive, always that you have got the Mac OS X DVD.
Insert the Mac OS X DVD and hold the C key while your Mac is starting up to start up from the DVD. Then, choose your language, go to Utilities menu (in the menu bar) > Disk Utility, and use it to format the hard drive > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU1.html
You will delete everything, so it is important that you have a backup of your most important files before doing this. Also, if you want to carry on using your Mac, you will have to install Mac OS X again
