If I ..., will my Outlook mail folder structure be replicated?

I've been using Netscape and Thunderbird for years now. Unfortunately, iTunes does not support syncing email with these clients. It looks like I can buy a third party program to migrate my Mozilla mail to Outlook; but, I want to make sure iPhone will handle email as I hope before I go to all the trouble.
If I make this migration, will my Outlook mail folder hierarchy be synced with the iPhone so that email filed on my iPhone will get filed on my pc?
I'd rather not be handling the same email twice. It looks like if I delete it on the phone, it will get deleted on my ISP's sever (AT&T) and that the email will then be unavailable for downloading onto my PC. In reality, despite having "keep messages on server until I delete them" checked on both my iPhone and my PC, this does not appear to be the case (although, I may not be allowing sufficient time during my test for the deletion to make its way back to the server).
Thanks!

Under normal conditions your should get all mails in your inbox the first time you POP your account. After that point, you should only receive the new one. However, it may depend on serverside settings to control this behaviour (some providers allow to change this setting).
Make sure to not delete the mails on the server (check for proper options in account setup in Mail.app), if you plan on using the webfrontend or an other device in addition to your Mac. Otherwise you will see the mails on your Mac only.
You will not get the mails stored in your "Sent & Drafts"-folder on default POP-server-installations. However, there may be provider-depended options to enable this. I actually do not know if Yahoo offers this. Maybe you should contact Yahoo support to clarify.

Is there a way to get an apple mail folder exported to outlook mail folder structure?  I'm using Gmail on my IMAC and have a PC for work.  Want to share folder structure between systems.

Use following steps to import apple mail to outlook:
Choose Mailbox->Export Mailbox, or choose Export Mailbox from the Action pop-up menu
Choose a folder or create a new folder where you want to store the exported mailbox.
Outlook for Mac: Choose File->Import Mailboxes. Select the mail application you want to import messages from.
If it does not work then you should use third party apple mail to pst applications. You can easily search in Google about these applications.

  • How to rename an Outlook mail folder with Automator.

    Hello,
I would like to use a Service from Automator to rename a mail folder in Outlook. The folder names are "<first name> <last name>". And they need to be renamed as "<last name>, <first name>". E.g. "John Doe" becomes "Doe, John".
    In Outlook that would be:
Right click on the folder name.
From the drop down menu, select "Rename".
Jump to the end of the folder name [option] [right arrow].
Select the last name: [shift] [option] [left arrow].
    Cut the name: [command] [x].
    Delete the space: [delete].
Go to the beginning of the name: [option] [left].
Insert the last name: [command] [v]
Insert a comma and a space: [,] [space].
    Finish the rename: [return].
    In Automator:
    Create a new Service.
    Insert "Get Selected Outlook Items".
    Record the steps above.
    Click Run.
The results of thelast step is: "Watch Me Do failed - 1 error. Application Outlook is not running when it is expected to".
Outlook is running and a folder is selected.
Anybody any idea what I do wrong?
    Thanks!
    Zojnk.

  • Outlook mail folder but item shows as contacts?

    Hi All
I recently moved a mail folder from my personal folder to exchange server. The folder shows Mail and Post item, but all the emails in that folders show up as contacts.
Any idea what happened and how to fix it?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Which version of Outlook are you using?
Could you please share a screenshot on this issue so that we can understand the issue more clearly?
If we double-click one item in the mail folder, does it open as a contact or an email message?
In addition, if all columns on the Folder list pane are removed except for the
From column, it may just looks like contacts. To verify this, we can highlight the folder and then click
View tab > View Settings (in Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013). Click
Columns button to verify if other columns are removed. If this is the case, we may click the
Reset Current View button under View tab >
View Settings to reset the folder view to its default view to see the result.
If I've misunderstood something, please let me know and provide more information on this.

  • Will i loose data, in outlook mails  when i upgrade from OS X 10.9.5 to Yosemite

i am using a mac pro late 2013 version. at presen have os x 10.9.5, looking forward to update to OS yosemite. i am afraid that i would loose my data in my computer, especially will my outlook mails will be deleted . need to know wether we will loose data while upgrading the OS.

A few users have reported data loss while upgrading Mac OSX or even after updating Office. So, the best practice would be to export all email data in OLM format using outlook and also to save a copy of Microsoft User Data folder with Main Identity at a separate location such as a portable Hard drive and then only update the Mac OSX or outlook. This way if you face any issues, you have an option to go back to mavericks and get the things working exactly as they are now or alternately recover emails from the backup if you wish to stay on new OS.
I also upgraded to Yosemite and lost many outlook files and folders. I did not had any backups and was stuck completely. I researched and came to know that outlook stores messages in olk14 format. Then, I looked online for olk14 message recovery as I had some very important emails downloaded in outlook and didn't expect it to stop functioning by just upgrading Mac OSX. However, at a later stage I was able to recover messages from olk14 format. Though it costed a bit, but I was happy to get my email messages back.

  • How to import files and convert folder structure to collections hierarchy?

My RAW files are organised on disc by date, e.g.

    2015-02-05 Golf
    2015-02-07 Skating competition

I would like to batch import these into Lightroom (Lightroom CC) and have the folder structure above replicated in Collection Sets and Collections (i.e. one collection set for each year, and within each one have a collection set per month, and within that individual collections for the folders)
Is there a way to make this happen automatically?

    Hi.
Trash the iPhoto Library folder that you created on your Mac, or rename it "iPhoto Library damaged" if you may need some of its contents. Copy the iPhoto Library folder from the backup into your Pictures folder. Hold down the Option key as you launch iPhoto and select "Choose Library" from the dialog. Navigate to the good iPhoto Library folder and open. iPhoto should launch and open your library in exactly the same condition it was in when the backup was made. If all goes well you don't have to import anything.
If the library is still missing items, you can try a database rebuild. Hold Command and Option while you launch, select the first 3 options in the dialog, and rebuild. This can fix a library with a slightly damaged database.
If the library still isn't working you may have to create a new library (Option-Launch, select "Create") and import your Originals folder from the backup library. This will give you the pictures back without creating duplicates, but your albums and other items will not be recovered.

  • Copy Folder Structure from Explorer into Outlook 2013

    Hi,
I have just spent approx 3 months designing an Enterprise Classification Scheme, and built a folder structure in Explorer that I want to replicate in Outlook.
I thought it would have been as simple as copy and pasting from Explorer to an Outlook folder however when I attempt to do so I get the following error:
"Only files or objects can be attachments. x:\xxxx\xxxxx\xxxxx is a folder structure and cannot be attached."
Surely there must be a simple way of doing this so I don't have to manually recreate and name 442 folders in Outlook.
    Any advice greatly appreciated.

I tried the Outlook tool with no luck.  It ran and looked as though it was doing something but no folders were created.
I did a bit more of a search around and came across a spreadsheet that works perfectly for making folder structures on Network drives.  Anyone up to having a look at the VBA in the  spreadsheet and modifying it to make shared folders in outlook

I have mistakenly deleted a mail folder in which I had created. I can't remember if it was located to 'iCloud' or 'On My Mac'. How can I retrieve the emails contained in this deleted folder? Your help will be immensely appreciated!

Yeah not a problem. It does seem though that if you did not have a Time Machine backup then you may not be able to recover the deleted folder :/ But for future reference to prevent any of this, a Time Machine backup is a great investment.
What it does is create an entire backup of your computer anything from personal information down to the screen saver.
What you first need is a new external hard drive (I would recommend a 1TB or higher just to prevent running out of space soon).
after that, just plug in the drive to your computer.
once it is plugged in, in the top right hand corner, close to the wi-fi symbol, you should see a symbol that looks like a clock with a backwards arrow around it.
click on that and select "open time machine preferences"
just turn the button to the "on" position, and select the backup drive and Time Machine does the rest
    very great tool

  • Create a new Mail Folder in Outlook 2011 and control its location?

    Hello,
I want to create a new mail folder in Outlook in a location of my choosing (from dialogue box)
After selecting the location, the user would get a dialog box that asks for the users initials (i.e CY)
A second dialog box would ask for the name of the new folder.
Clicking "ok" would create a new folder in outlook that looks like this:
       20131107-TECH-CY-MyFolderName
A new dialog box then prompts for a location on the Mac where a similarly named folder should be created.
Clicking "OK" uses the finder to create this folder.
    Many thanks for any help!

Does anyone know how to summon a dialog box in Outlook 2011 for Mac using Applescript??

  • New iMac to which I have imported outlook mail files which have set up as individual mailboxes. There are now so many mailboxes that mail will not open so I can't do anything with them. What can I do.

I have a brand new iMac and I have incorectly imported 20k plus outlook mail messages. They have all set up as individual mailboxes so mail locks when I try to open it. So I am stuck because I can't get into mail to do anything with these messages. Please help if you can. Regards Tebbs

Now new mail is coming to both computer's inboxes but there is no number on the stamp icon on dock to show number of emails on the iMac. Nor is there a number by either email address under MAILBOXES/inbox (sidebar) on the iMac. This number is showing on MacBook Pro.
I also can save drafts now on both computers.
Seems the Pro is fixed and the iMac is only missing the numbers on dock icon and by addresses in inbox.
Now that the problem is less, I feel i am wasting your time but will continue so maybe I can get those numbers back.
Two emails > AT&T email and gmail.
Apple's Mail program for email - yes, and gmail.
    IMAP for both accounts.
Did not change mail configuration on MacBook.
The iMac and MacBook Pro have the same mail configuration except in Accounts/mailbox behaviours/store draft messages on the server was not marked on MacBook > it is now.
'Store junk messages on the server' was marked on one computer for gmail, but is unmarked on both now.
On the iMac, Accounts/Accounts info/Outgoing mail for gmail is smtpgmail.
On the MacBook Pro for gmail it is smpt.gmail.com (plus) my email address.
Rules/Add rule window, on the MacBook third line is 'Any Recipient', on the iMac third line is 'From."
The last box on that line has my email address on the MacBook.
The last box on that line has the last address I sent an emil to (last night), on the iMac.
On the last line on iMac, no box was selicted for 'to mailbox' > I choose 'inbox' because it is on the MacBook Pro.
Now I have a Rule #1 and am not sure I should have because there was no rules marked when I took the computer in.
Thank you. I relized I had done the labeling wrong when so much of my question appeared twice and no one else's did. I know how to do it now.
    Thank you so much,

  • Mail 6.0 has duplicate "On My Mac" folder structures

Having upgraded to ML 10.8 this morning I notice that Mail has two "On My Mac" folder structures below Archive, one is immediately below Archive (i.e. the top of the sub-tree) let's call it 1st instance, followed by iCloud, then the 2nd instance of an "On My Mac" folder structure.
From the erratic behaviour of the disclosure triangles in the 1st, this would appear to be the unwanted child. Click its triangle and the 2nd structure opens.
Now click the Archive disclosure triangle twice, once to close it all up, the 2nd click gives both "On My Mac" structures open to the first level, iCloud is unaffected. Repeat this operation and both "On My Mac" structures are closed up.
If you do open a sub-folder in the 1st instance, any subsequent click of the triangle is ignored, even in the other instance.
The 2nd instance is completely consistent in operation as would be expected under normal circumstances.
Closing and reopening Mail just remembers the current expanded state, the only consistent reset is achieved with the Archive close/open double manoeuvre.

Hmm, this was happening back in 2007, but the drag it out and back solution doesn't seem to work this time

Update, I think I've solved it for myself.
Previously, I had created a local folder called Archive. iCloud also comes with a default folder called Archive and Mail 6.0 was showing my local archive and combining it with its iCloud version, rather like the way that calendars and contacts get doubled up when your local stuff is mirrored on iCloud.
Having taken a backup of my local archive I trashed the lot, everything from the 2nd "On My Mac" tree downwards and then the other two sibling trees, the 1st "On My Mac" and "iCloud" just disappeared as well.
So my recommendation is don't use "Archive" as a local folder name.
I later created a test folder called "Local" and selected its location as "On My Mac". "On My Mac" is now listed in capitals, in a lighter grey colour, with the Hide/Show popup choice to its right. This is your local storage area, away from iCloud and Apple's little helpers :-)

  • When will Muse get a sub folder structure?

Please Adobe - can you add a sub folder structure hierarchy to Muse. At the moment, unless somebody knows differently, the only workaround is to create an entirely new Muse site and link from the parent site.

    Hi Eric,
I will recommend that you post this on our ideas section over here, https://forums.adobe.com/community/muse/ideas, and let our devs team know of this requirement.

  • My MAIL folder will not copy between computers via a portable drive

For a year, I've copied my MAIL folder in User/Library folder, and dropped it into the same folder. Though this process took about 10 minutes, I never had any trouble. The two computers are a G4 PowerBook and an G5 iMac. Now, I get error messages and the mail must be manually copied. I'm not sure if this began after the 10.4.7 upgrade or not. There are lots of error messages and delays and it takes about 2 hours to successfully copy everything.
    1. What could be going on?
    2. Is there an easier way to keep each computer current?

When transferring my MAIL folder from the office to my laptop at home, I quit Mail, drag the MAIL folder to my portable LaCie drive, and copy it. I also copy from the laptop and bring the LaCie to work. This worked fine for a long time until I started getting error messages in the midst of transferrin the folder from the portable drive to either computer. It's possible that the problem lies with the portable drive and not with either of the computers. So I've just erased that drive and will try again. I have already verify/repaired both computers.
