If I can get my home computer/network to IChat with anyone else (the Apple test users or from the Apple Store) does that mean that my computer/network/ports(5060) at home are OK and that if it fails in other places/times, it is then some other issue (other network/firewalls, etc.)?

If you can call out to the appleu3testxx accounts then it is not going to be port 5060 that is the problem.
If you can call somewhere like an Apple Store or logged in at an apple store anf they answer and can have a chat then it is not ports full stop.
If after that you have problems with certain people it more like ly to be a NAT issue if your are using that (Port Forwarding , DMZ or Port Triggering) is more likely to be the isssue between your modem (and router) sdet up and the other end's device(s)
iChat does not like it when you do NAT through two devices at one end.
Use UPnP where you can.
If you do not have UPnP in either device if you have two then set up Static routing from the modem to the router and then Port Forward to the router.
There is a couple of other possibles.
SIP aware devices.
Certain Modems are SIP aware (Alcatel 500 series and other + some Draytecks). These produce intermittent looking results
(some buddies all the time , some now and then , some never)
The speed of the person at the other end can effect it if too slow.
The other end not being set correctly
The last two being the more likely
After that it is a question if any device has QoS, DoS or SPI (It does not seem likely as you have made calls to Buddies on faster connections so far, that it is your end)

Hyperlinks...works in certain locations????
I have many hyperlinks (text and photo) on my iWeb page...and they all work fine after publishing when I view the page in my web browser (safari & firefox). Except for one link. One of the links (text), does absolutely nothing when I click on it in my web browser.
If I move the text box to a different location on the page and re-publish, then the hyperlink will work. But I cannot get the hyperlink to work in the location where I want it. I do not have any other objects placed over or under this hyperlink. I have taken the hyperlink off...and then put it back on and it still will not work. This just does not make any sense to me.
Has anybody ever ran into this before??? I have even tried to insert a picture at zero opacity over, AND under the hyperlink with the same web address on the picture as the text, and re-published. That wouldn't work either. The only way I can get this hyperlink to work is to move the text to a location where I don't want it!
I don't know what else to try!!!

...Is your text link below that footer area? If so, that may be the problem and you need to move that text link out of the footer for it to work.
Also, the footer height is adjustable via the +Inspector > Page tab > Layout > Footer Height+. (After entering a new footer length, hit Return so that the new length is applied.) -

How do I get these substrings - "90 000" and "35 000 000"? I cannot determine the starting position of these substrings.

Enterprise structure -work from home employees
Hi all,
We are in the process of setting up our Enterprise Structure. PA will be set up as 4 physical offices of the company in US. PSA as to be set up as Divisions of the company. We also have work from home employees working at different locations (15 states) in USA. Right now they are tracked statewise. They are categorized by work from home- per state. Also all work from home employees are treated the same way as other employees who work from office locations in terms of benefits and pay. They are considered as Active employees in current legacy system.
I want the advise on how to go ahead for setting up PA, PSA, EG and ESG for thses emplyees. One option is to set up 15 personnal areas as 15 states which will divide the work from home emp (in addition to 4 PAs as offices) or the other is just to set up one PA for all homebase employees in US and then maintain their locations/states somewhere else.
Has anyone come across the same situation ? How the work from home emp. in other companies are categorized? Any suggestions are welcome.

I just bought a Airport Time Capsule, time capsule is connected direct from wan to cable modem (it doesnt work). when i connect it to lan port 1, it start working. normal process i know is from cable modem to wan port. 2nd i notice, network is on bridge mode. so my question is how do i make it to work from modem to wan port.
What model is the modem? Is it a pure cable modem or a combined modem router?
This maybe important as the current model TC does have issues with some of the popular cable modems.. SB6121 or 6141 being often the ones complained about here.
If it is a pure cable modem (most will have just one ethernet port). Then power down the modem for 20min. This allows enough time for the MAC address of the first device connected to be lost at the ISP end so it is ready for a new router.
The TC must be in dhcp and nat mode.
Please factory reset the TC and start over.
The Factory Reset universal
Unplug your TC/AE. Hold in reset. and power the TC/AE back on.. all without releasing reset and keep holding in for about 10sec. The time is not important.. it is the front LED rapid flashing that indicates you are in factory mode.
Release reset.
If it doesn’t flash rapidly you have released reset at some point and try again.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel.. add no more pressure after that.
TC/AE will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.
By default the TC is in router mode after a reset.
Restart the modem.
The power up the TC and run through the setup utility.
The TC should then be accepted as the main router in the network.
If this fails check the WAN ip address. If it is 10.x.x.x or some other private IP you did not turn off the cable modem for long enough.. Try again only this time leave it off longer. (Some ISP it is just 5min.. some 15.. some will require 60min or overnight). -

Location services don't work even though they are on
My location services do not work even though they are switched on. When I ask Siri something that requires my location it tells me to turn on location services and Siri but they are already on.
For location the iPod uses the location nearby wifi routers that are in Apple's data base. You do not have to be connect to the router.
Thus, it appears that the router the iPod is using does not have the correct location in Apple's database. Apple continuously updates their database based on data it obtains from iPhones. No one has found a way to tell apple to correct/add a wifi router to their database.
To test this, go to another location/another network like Starbucks and see if location work there -
iMovie 11 audio issues. Fine in timeline, but when rendering to iTunes or Media Browser, audio from certain portions of movie files are heard in places where it shouldn't be !
I have created a project where I have a montage of photos and video clips edited together with music under. Some audio portions of the video files are being muted in some areas and those portions are being heard in another part of the project. This is not for all video clips only certain ones.
The project plays fine in the timeline, but when I render the project thru iTunes or Media Browser, this is when the project goes corrupt.
I tried detaching the Audio from the video clips and this somewhat worked, but the original problem still exists with certain audio still being heard where it's not supposed to be.I have a fix - or rather, a workaround.
WARNING: It is lengthy, but still far better than starting a new project from scratch.
I had this same issue and none of my transitions/clips were at custom speeds, nor did I have anything else weird going on. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do within iMovie to fix this, at least there wasn't for me. iMovie is BY FAR the buggiest software I have ever used and if you haven't already spent hours slaving away on a project, you are so much better off using just about anything else to edit your video.
...But let's assume you have already spent many hours working on your project and you don't want to start all over. Well then, you have at least one option.
It's a pain in the neck, but it's infinitely better than restarting your project from scratch.
This will require:
A software called Soundflower (which is free) and some kind of audio editing software (I use Logic, but really any should work).
1.) You're going to need to export your video with the messed up audio. Typically if you're audio is messing up, you're video is at least usually working just fine (at least it always does for me).
2.) You're going to need to open that video in your audio software and import only the audio. If your software doesn't give you this option, then you're going to need to record the audio from your video using the audio software and Soundflower. You can find tutorials on how to do this, but it's honestly pretty straightforward once you start playing around with you Mac's audio I/O settings. Remember to have your computer's volume all the way up when doing this.
3.) Watch/listen to your video and make notes of where the audio errors occur. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND writing down times too, as they will be extremely helpful later.
4.) Now were going to rip some working audio from the iMovie project itself. Go back into your iMovie project and only play back audio while in the edit window for this step. Do NOT play your project back in full screen.
This part is key: if you try to play back your project from the beginning the audio will usually still mess up. So, what you're gonna have to do is go back on your edit window timeline right before these errors occur and play that specific clip back while recording this working audio with Soundflower and your audio software. Essentially we're only recording the parts of the audio where these errors occur, so try to do this in order if you can. Try to leave several seconds of audio in before the error - that way we can use it as reference when we construct our new audio track.
5.) Now in your audio software you should have your original error-filled audio track and the new clips that we just captured. This part can be painstaking if you're not familiar with audio editing softwares, but as you'll learn, it's really not that hard.
You're going to look at your original audio track and compare it to your new working audio clips. You should be able to notice where those new clips are supposed to go by looking at the identical (or close to identical) waveform shapes in your original audio track. The two should correspond with one another. If you don't understand what I mean right now, you will when you start playing around with the audio. This is why marking times is very important.
Take your new clips and split them up if you haven't already, that way you can drag them around and edit them separately from one another. Essentially your going to line these new clips up with original and then replace the original parts with new ones.
We need to get this as precise as possible, so start off by getting them as close as you can with your naked eye, and then use a zoom tool to zoom in as much as possible so that you can get them lined up PERFECTLY, or at least extremely close. In some softwares you can just drag these new clips on top of the old track, but most of the time you will need to actually cut out the old piece and replace it with the new one. In doing this, zoom in and make sure that you are NOT cutting out a bigger space than your new clip will fill - otherwise you will have small gaps in your audio.
VERY IMPORTANT: Also make sure that this new audio track starts at the EXACT SAME time as your original - otherwise your new audio will be out of sync.
I know this part can really suck if you're not used to audio editing, but at this point, there is little other choice.
6.) Once you are done with this, export your newly pieced together audio track.
7.) Now open iMovie and create a NEW project. Re-import the video that you exported earlier that has the messed up audio. This might take a while, so just be patient.
8.) Then right click the clip and select "Detach Audio". This will do just that - allowing you to edit the audio separately from the video. Now delete this audio.
9.) Now, import the new, perfect audio track that we just made and make sure that it starts at the start of the project. Make sure it's in sync and that everything works.
Now just export your new video with the working audio and you should be done. Since we have given iMovie the audio with no editing actually being done in iMovie, it does not have to generate its own audio now and you should have absolutely no errors now - unless there is some that you forgot to take out earlier.
YOU'RE FINALLY DONE!!!
I know this entire process *****, but if you're that far into your project, there is little else that you can do. Now you've learned your lesson:
DON'T USE IMOVIE EVER AGAIN.

JMS Bridge from WLS to OAS not working; automatic redirection to JMS Port
We have setup a JMS Bridge inbetween Weblogic Server 10.3.0 and Oracle App Server 10.1.3. In our test environment it is working fine. But, in LIVE, we are facing a problem. Firewall is there inbetween OAS and WLS.
1. OAS Admin port 6003, is blocked by firewall. So, from outside environment we can't connect to this port.
2. OAS Port 12401 (RMI Port) is not-blocked
3. OAS Port 12601 (JMS Port) is blocked by firewall
4. We created credential "JMS_USER" while configuring QueueConnFactory at OAS end and used it while setting up WLS JMS Bridge
We are using ormi://172.24.255.59:12401/default as Provider URL from Weblogic while creating JMS Bridge.
Problem

While connecting from WLS we are getting the following error from WLS end:

They can only be chosen from the drop down menu. I tried dragging the page to the bookmark toolbar from the location bar but that does not work. Is it a glitch in the system?
If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key to make the menu bar appear.

Saving files back to EX4 from remote location after local work
Hello everyone, I work remotely on files when I'm at home. My Ex4 is at my office and I access the files using WD My Cloud App. Naturally I select the file in the app, it opens on my local computer. I do the work and hit save. The file is saved locally to the following location. C:\Users\(MYUSERNAME)\AppData\Roaming\com.wd.WDMyCloud\Local Store Then I'm in the habit of saving a copy to my desktop for easy location, then dragging it back to the WD My Cloud App and into the original remote NAS folder. Is there a simpler way of simply saving directly to the original NAS EX4 location? This feels like it's a total n00b question - but I haven't found a direct Save to / Save as option. Thanks for your reply ArMak. I work on typical business office file types: doc, xls, msg, etc. There's not really a problem with saving, opening, uploading, or downloading. My question really has to do with best practices when using the WD MyCloud app to work with files that are on a remote drive far away. Since the drive is remote and not on the same network, naturally it doesn't show up in a file explorer on the computer. The shares and the files on the drive have to be accessed throught the WD MyCloud app. So my scenario is this: When I want to work on a file that's on my office EX4 when travelling, I open it by clicking on it from the MyCloud app. The file then opens locally on my laptop using the relevant program installed thereon - for example, a .doc file on the remote NAS opens on the local copy of Word. No problem. After editing the file, I can't just press "save" in Word and have it saved on the NAS in my office. Of course that makes sense. Instead I have to save the newly edited file locally on my laptop. Then drag it back into the share and upload it via the MyCloud App. My question is... is that the only way to do it? Is there some way that one can directly save to the remote NAS without all these steps? I hope that was clearer. Thanks for your help.-opus
