Your purchases are tied to your Apple ID. If you bought all of the books with the old ID then AFAIK you will have to continue to use that ID in order to continue to sync those books to the iPad.
You have to update the app with the old ID so I don't see how you could keep the books with the new ID. Maybe I am wrong about this, but someone else will chime in I'm sure and correct me if I am wrong.

All you may infer is the device hasn't been turned on where it can connect to Wi-Fi.
The phone may be jailbroken if there is no lock passcode to prevent access. However, the phone can be completely erased and restored as new. In this case you will have no ability to locate it or prevent it from being jailbroken.

My iphone 4 was stolen and I am replacing it with an iph4S; the computer I sync to is 100 miles away. Is there anyway to get my backed-up material without having to travel to that pc?

There is no FaceTime app. To initiate FaceTime go the contact page of the person you want to FaceTime in your Contacts app and select FaceTime at the bottom of the screen.

I have a similar problem. I recieved an IPAD for my birthday, and my daughter updated my itunes library so i can use it with the ipad...and somehow all my songs (unpurchased from itunes, and downloaded from a large collection of CDs) ...and play lists were deleted. I have a passcode for my iPhone, but I don't have the application Find my iPhone. Can I retrieve my photos, notes, reminders and all other data in my iPhone, I mean, if I bought another one, and connect it to my computer and go to iTunes then restore backup, cause I backup my iPhone last Oct 10, 2013, will I recover all the details in my iPhone that was stolen? I looked online and an article (this one to be exact: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4061?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US) told me to go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and then select my device and it would tell me the serial number. However, when I got to the devices menu, my iPhone didn't show up, but my dad's did. Any idea on how to get it to show up or an alternate way to get the serial number (I don't have the box or the phone)?

Yours was stolen, it will not show up in iTunes. There is no way to get your serial number unless you registered it with Apple: Your Support Profile for Registered Purchases.
