If my phone is locked I don't recieve text/imessage notifications. Why??

If my iPhone is in Lock mode I never recieve text/iMessage notifications until after it's unlocked and even then sometimes I'll recieve them hours later!!

Use the computer you normally sync with. If you no longer have access to it, or you set up the passcode since the last time you synced, you will need to put the phone into recovery mode or DFU mode and restore it as new.

When I get a text while the phone is locked it doesn't make the designated alert sound, but it does if the phone is unlocked and in use.

I think you have the 'do not disturb' function enabled. If there is a moon icon in the top right of the home screen that will be the problem. Go to settings, do not disturb, and make sure manual slider is off. I had the same problem and took me a day to figure out.

I don't recieve texts on time?

Before I go into detail, my iphone 4S currently has no service, it is turned off. I am texting through wifi using imessage.
Recently, I've had the problem of not recieving text messages when they are delivered. Usually, when I recieve a text message, the badge that shows up on my lock screen would say something like: (contact name) then it would say now, meaning when it was recieved.
Now, I get the notification ten minutes after it is sent, and sometimes, the text message won't even show up, until five to ten minutes later.
This is very frustrating and I don't know how to fix this problem.

When I used to use Verizon voicemail, I never had a problem with it.
However, I have switched to Google Voice for voicemail because I wanted a visual voicemail service and was not willing to pay Verizon's $2.99/month fee for their Visual Voicemail. Seemed kind of ridiculous.
You may want to give Google Voice a try if you continue to have problems with Verizon's voicemail. There are also other apps which provide similar free services, such as YouMail. All are available in the Play Store.

Phone number, not contact name, appears for new iMessage notification

I am currently in Israel and using an Israeli SIM card with my iPhone 5C. I have unlimited data so I was told I was able to use iMessage. I am having an issue when talking to just one person. When I receive the banner or lock screen notification that I have a new message from him it just displays the phone number (area code and seven digits, no 1 or +1 or anything). Then when I swipe or tap to view the message it automatically brings me to a new message screen "To" his phone number (also the phone number is showing up green even though it is an iPhone). When I cancel the new message and am then in my Message app and viewing all my conversations, the new message is there under his contact name that is saved in my phone... And messages are blue etc. in our conversation. His number is saved with a +1 in my contacts as I am abroad and the contact name was appearing in my Messages. When I removed the +1 from his contact the phone is not recognizing him in my messages and just shows up as the number. This is very very frustrating. Please help! Thank you.

How do I get email and text message banner notifications on my iphone when the phone is locked? When I had iOS 6 I could get notifications with sound and banner. Now that I have iOS7 I can't see notificaitons when the phone is locked.

The phone was hacked to unlock it. It relocked when you updated. ONLY the carrier it is locked to can authorize unlocking it. If you are not/never were an AT&T customer and you do not have an original store receipt from either an AT&T or Apple store in the U.S. for a no commitment AT&T iPhone, they will NOT unlock it.
Buy a new phone.

iphone 4s is disabled. It says connect to itunes. Itunes ays could not connect because phone is locked with a passcode and to enter passcode on iphone before it can be used with itunes, but I can't enter the passcode because 1) don't know it 2) it's disabled. The device also does not show up in itunes, so how can I restore the phone or unlock it?

I was really stupid and i brought a phone on ebay for my son for christmas.
The seller said the iphone was unlocked and that any sim would work in the phone. He said all i have to do is insert my sim, charge the phone, set up with itunes and activate it. Clearly not, because i've tried a Three and Vodafone sim and neither of them work! I'm stuck on a message during the activation process. It says;
"Only compatible SIM cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate Iphone. Please insert the SIM card that came with your iPhone or visit a supported Carrier's store to recieve a replacement SIM card."
I really don't know what to do from here. The top left hand corner says "No service", and i can't use my iphone!

Contact the seller. If he's sold something which is not as advertised, you need to take it up with him or eBay.
There's nothing anyone here can do. Only the original network to which the phone is locked can unlock it.
