If only the camera had image stabilization!

it's nigh impossible to hold the camera still enough to get a sharp image.
it's cool how you click on a portion of the image to adjust brightness to that object and also bring up the zoom control.
but, oh, "blurry cam".

So far there are no real anti-shake options for iPhone/iPod Touch.
The closest I've seen so far is an app called "Camcorder Pro - HD" by some company called "Game Lingo". I've never used it, but they have a feature that uses lines to track your image steadiness. It doesn't specifically adjust for image shake, but does give you a guide to monitor how shaky your hands are.
If you don't need to operate "hand-held", you might look into some "camera mounting system" specifically for iPhone/iPod Touch. I know that sounds a bit odd, but some people have experimented with iPhone mounting systems, trying to produce "professional looking" short films using their iPhones. Typically, they use some small adjustable clamps that hold the iPhone in place and attach them to other objects to achieve the same effect as a mini tripod.
Outside of that, you might look into software options available on your computer.
I wish I could give you a better answer, but there doesn't seem to be one at the moment.

  • Raw + JPEG : How do you view only the Camera Raw?

    Hi there,
Here's my problem.... I started importing many of my pictures (shot Camera Raw + JPEG) using the import window. Using the import window caused both the Camera Raw and the Jpeg to appear side by side in any album. Later on, I accidentally discovered that if I dragged a folder with the Raw + JPEG files into the aperture library, the Jpegs would be hidden from site. However, they would appear when I used the "export masters" command, which is exactly what I want (to see one image, but have the Jpegs hidden). I don't want to confuse and clutter things by having side by side duplicate photos in my albums. Is there any way to go back and retroactively make it so that only the camera raw pictures are displayed in a case of Raw +Jpeg? I don't want to erase the original Jpegs created by the camera either. There must be a way to do this.
Any help here would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi Cliff,
If you don't mind using Automater Actions, the following link will allow you to separate your .jpeg from your RAW files. I have not personally used/tested it because Aperture does not currently support the Nikon D80 RAW files yet. However, when they do, I will certainly give it a try. I hope this helps! Don

  • Custom batch rename files with Aperture 3 in the following format: IMG_0023.cr2 to Smith_YYMMDD_0023.cr2?  I cannot find a way to structure the date in Aperture as such, as well as extract only the camera file

Please advise how to custom batch rename files with Aperture 3 in the following format: IMG_0023.cr2 to Smith_120816_0023.cr2?  I cannot find a way to structure the date in Aperture as such (YYMMDD), as well as extract only the camera file (0023, for example).  Adobe Bridge CS5 can do this, but NONE of the Adobe software is retina optimized, and is terrible to look at.

In Aperture you are limited to renaming files by the entries in the File Naming preset window.
At what point are you looking to rename, import or export? It might be possible to do what you are looking to do external to Aperture either via a script or other software.

  • When I make a new album from my camera roll, I am unable to delete the from only the camera roll album. Is there any way to delete them?

When I make a new album from my camera roll, I am unable to delete the photos from only the camera roll album. Is there any way to delete them without deleting them from the new album?

The photos in your album are actually only saved in your camera roll. The creation of an album does not create copies of the photos. The Album simply contains pointers to the pictures in the camera roll.
If you want to create stand-alone albums move the pics to your computer, say iPhoto, create albums there and sync the pictures back to your iPhone. Note that the pictures synced back to the iPhone will not necessarily have the same resolution as the camera roll versions.

  • Multicam Clips in the Timeline and Image Stabilization

I've got a multicam clip in my timeline that I would like to use image stabilization on. What I'd like to do is:
double click on the clip which brings up the angle editor with the range and angle selected.
press cmd-B to blade the clip
    turn on image stabilization.
Unfortunately, step one doesn't work. I'm forced to open up the angle editor and manually skim and search for the desired angle and time range. It would be okay if the playhead in the angle editor was slaved to the one in the timeline. Then when you went into the angle editor you'd be right at the desired source material, but no, the two seem to be independant of each other. It makes performing the task much slower and more tedious. So much so I am convinced more experienced users are going to know a quicker way to do it.
So, does anyone know an easier work-around for this?

Thank you Tom and Luis, but I'm not with any of this. I can add a clip to the timeline or insert a clip into it via the "arrow tools". If I attempt to shorten the clip IN the timeline there is a blank space representing the amount trimmed from the clip.
I want the next clip along to that I've trimmed to automatically move along the timeline albeit shortening the total project duration.
Pressing "A" on the keyboard doesn't achieve this.
I simply click on the clip in the timeline  to highlight it with the yellow margin. I then click on one "edge" with the arrows symbol and drag the edge inwards. This then leaves the space I do not want.
As for "Preferences" when I click this under "Final Cut Pro" i see nothing either relevant to this problem or that I could trash.

  • Only the hard drive image showing up upon start up

When I started up my computer today for the first time ever all I saw was a larger image of my hard drive located in the middle of a gray screen. Had to click on it to proceed to the desk top. Has this every happened to anyone else? This is the first time for me and I am curious as to what caused that.

This happens if you hold the option key while booting - it invokes the startup manager so that if you have a bootable external disk you can choose that to boot from just this one time: as you only have the internal disk that's all that showed. Possibly you hit the option key by accident: anyway it's quite harmless.

  • When I open my video inspector, the box for image stabilization and shutter roll does not appear.  How do I get it to appear?

When I open my video inspector and I click the Video button, no options for stabilization and rolling shutter appear.  Is there any way that I can get them to appear, so that I might use these tools?

    Tom,
Many thanks for replying so soon.  Actually, I think I've solved my little conundrum.  I was selecting all of my clips in the timeline with the hope of running both functions.  I found that when I only selected one clip at a time, that the two options would appear and that I could select them.
    Again, Tom, thank you.
    Cheers,
    Rob

  • HT4101 I discovered a fatal flaw in the iPad procedure for downloading images from camera to iPad: after selecting the images to be downloaded, an accidental touch of the "delete" button, wipes all selected images from the camera, with no warning?

After downloading some 60 images from camera to iPad, I was "scrolling" down to select the last images, and inadvertently touched the "Delete" button that appears at the top right of the screen, when the "Select" option is chosen. I did not notice the warning "Delete 60 Images?", and continued scrolling down, when my finger touched the warning message. All my precious images were instantly deleted from the camera The sensitive touch screen feature makes this a real problem. Apple should "fix" this unacceptable feature, surely! I suggest that the images on the camera memory card should not be able to be deleted from the iPad, and this shpuld require to be done using the camera controls only. Similarly, the "Delete" or "Keep" options that appear after importing a selection from the camera, should NOT allow the images on rthe camera to be deleted, but only the imported (downloaded) images on the iPad. This unnecessary option could easily delete precious images from the camera!
Apple should remove the option to delete images from the camera, and the iPad touch screen commands should olny delete images on the iPad. (Alternatively, the "delete option should be on a separatly accessed "page".)
Surely enough users of the "Lightning to USB Camera Adapter" will agree with the above?

No, I don't agree. Whenever you connect a camera to a computer you are given the opportunity to delete the photos on the camera after downloading in precisely the same way the iPad does this. The fact that you touched Delete and then ignored the Warning doesn't change anything.
I've loaded thousands of photos on my IPad and never have had that problem.
Don't blame a moment of carelessness on your device.

  • Does iPhone 4s have image stabilization in the STILL shots?

I keep reading about the much hyped Image Stabilization in video capture, but have not found anything regarding the still camera. Anyone know?

    I don't believe so.

  • Is there image stabilization in Premiere Pro CS3...?

    I have Premiere Pro CS3.
My previous workplace had Final Cut and that had image stabilization filter built in.
Does my Premiere Pro have the same thing?
    thanks,,

Image stabilization can be used for more than just fixing a camera shake issue.
It is a fundamental tool  for a lot of compositing and image tracking work whether shot from a crane, dolly ,head and legs...helicopter or moving vehicle.
Can be used for smoothing out pans / tilts and wind affected shots
Whatever... Mercali plugin or After Effects or Mocha does the job.

  • FCP X not image stabilize HDV footage

    I have a Imac 27 inch 11,1, I5.
My problem;  after successfully imported HDV clips.  I placed it on the timeline and selected analyze and fix "image stabilized".  After the back ground rendering circle went from blue to green, and the image seemed slight zoomed in, as expected in the viewer.  When I play it,  I noticed no IS at all.
I tried adjusting the IS controls via inspector.  Still no IS, the image would zoomed in a bit more or less based on what I did in the inspector. But no IS.
    Anyone with this problem??
I'd read elsewhere online that someone said that FCPX does not IS with interlaced clips and his work around was to changed his field dominance from "Upper" - HDV to "0" then FCPX would do IS.
Is this true?? If so, how silly is that...

You are right, there is the suspicion that image stabilization is broken for interlaced media. However, I've also seen reports that you can get it working for interlaced clips, as long as you don't do any analysis while importing, and only do the analysis inside the timeline. But it sounds like that's what you did.
Hopefully this is a bug that Apple will fix.

  • IPhone 6 display got zoomed while using the camera (happened after update to iOS 8.1.3)

Hi, after updating to the newest iOS version (iOS 8.3) I have experienced a lot of graphics issues. I experiensed it in the keyboard with some of the "button pop-ups" lingers. Also, when I rotate the phone it kinda shows a negative version of the screen besides the normal one during the rotation animation.
However this is not the big problem.
Cause, while I was about to take a picture, using the standard camera app, I zoomed in stretching two fingers away from each others. Suddenly the whole screen zoomed in, not only the camera. So after that I can only see a limited part of the screen. I have tried to turn the phone off and on and it seems promising during the startup (I can then see the apple logo in normal size), but as soon as it comes to the locked screen it zooms in again.
Because of this IO am now unable to use the cellphone and I consider to downgrade to 1.2.
    I appreciate all suggestions.

To disable Zoom double-tap the screen with three fingers.
Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom and turn this OFF.

  • Photomerge panorama in PSE 12 includes only 2 of 3 images in finished panorama?

Using PSE 12--Several times I've tried creating a panorama with Photomerge. I'm usiny 3 images. Every attempt results in a final panorama of only the 1st two images. Any direction on how to get the beast to include all 3?

It's really hard to tell without seeing the photos.
Is it possible you could post the the photos somewhere, so someone here might give it a shot?

I'm using iPhoto 11, and instead of seeing my images in the main view, I see only outlines. (Had same problem in iPhoto 10 before upgrade to Lion Help!
I'm on a Macbook Pro and all of my software is up-to-date.
The photos and events, etc. appear to be present in my photo library, but I cannot see the actual images--only an outlined placeholder.

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to rebuild the thumbnails. This can take 3 or 4 goes to work.
