Both of those are carrier features, contact your cell phone provider and ask them why.

I've held back on updating to ios7 on my iPad because when I I updated my phone I lost everything and had to go to an apple store. Will this happen to iPad? Can anyone advise me please?
There shouldn't be any problem but, if you are worried, do a backup before the update.

It is a feature to discourage the theft of iPhones by making them useless if resold. It's not going anywhere. It's simple: just don't buy a phone until you make sure that the activation lock has been disabled.

After updating my iTunes it no longer acknowledges that my iPod or iPhone is connected so I can't update my music.. I have followed all of these steps and everything is working fine but this new version of iTunes isn't recognizing my devices. Any advice?
I have the same problem. Running Win 8 64Bit, updated to latest ITunes and now will not recognize phone or pad. Followed all advice from Apple (uninstall/restart/re-install, all in exact order) ... nothing. Spoke with Apple tech and walked through the whole process, but no resolution. Tech was trying to be helpful but has no way of addressing issue.

Try reset all settings
Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
Note: Data will not be affected but settings for Wi-Fi, FaceTime, Message, Home Sharing will be reset

Have you run Software Update. You have Java already installed, but it needs to be updated.

I have wanted to update from 3.6.22, to 5.0.1, but can't do to the following reasons: I can't due to, too many things won't work with the version & will be disabled. They are: Microsoft. NET Framework Assistant 1.2.1, Iconix 3.90.1, HP Detect 1.0.5.1, Yahoo! Toolbar 2.3.5.201101200332202 (I don't care about Yahoo! Toolbar, because I don't use it!). As soon as these issues are fixed, I will be able to update, to the latest versions. These issues should be fixed & ready to work, before a new version is available. Thank you!

What can I do to unlock the IPAD if I cannot access the device by using computer? When I connect to computer, it says I have to unlock the IPad to connect to itunes.
I try everything but I cannot figure out what to do. I turn off IPAD and it still stay in the connect to Itunes mode. It does not goes back to wait mode.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Does the Quantum DVR come with updated On Demand software?
I am started to get really annoyed with the software in the Verizon Boxes. The timeout and no resume after a few minutes. The fact that it doesn't show you what you've watched previously. The 2x fast forward (if at all). All of these things keep pushing us to Netflix and Amazon more and more. Also, my neighbor has the new Cablevision box - it was like I suddenly got transported from the 1990's (the Verizon System) to 2008 era (the new Cablevision system) - and worst of all I was impressed by this!

2X speed limit. I have never worked in engineerying cable boxes but I know that Amazon, Netflix, and Amazon have all figured out how to increase the speeds on devices they don't control - so I am not sure why Verizon can't deliver this.
On long pauses the timeout does not remember that you were watching the show. The resume show option goes away after some time - not sure how long it is but it is not long - perhaps 30 minutes. When the resume goes away the 2X speed limit suddenly becomes very important because getting back to the point you left of can be painful. Also, if you were lucky enough to be watching a show that had fast forward disabled you have no choice but to watch it. Again, from a software engineering perspective - allowing someone to fast forward back to the point in the show that you left off should not be that difficult.
As fars as knowing what you watched - Netflix and all of the other services know when you have watched a show. So if you are working your way through a series it highlghts those shows that have been previously watched. On Verizon you have no idea - so many times I start watching an episode only to realize that I had already seen it. This is especially prevalent when the description of the episode does not provide enough information to evaluate the contents of the episode - such as "Season 2, Episode 3"! Netflix goes one better and even allows viewer profiles - so you indicate who is watching and it keeps track of your watching and resume points. In this day and age this is fairly basic stuff.
I have seen that many of these issues have been noted on the forum for years now. I had originally posted to see if any of the new DVRs actually had new software - making them worth looking at. But it appears the most signfiicant change on the software that has happened in the last couple of years is the addition of ads at the bottom of the guide screen and enhanced widgets. Does anyone actually use widgets on their computer screen - doesn't everyone have a smart phone in their pocket with the weather and traffic on it? -

I teach at a university and use iWeb (1.0.1) with .Mac for my course blogs. Our semester is over and I want to decommission those course sites. In the fall, I want to take those sites and re-release them entry by entry as the semester progresses.
Is there a way to withhold certain sites and pages without deleting them altogether? (Especially important since it appears there's no way to save them without having them in the publish queue.

Duplicating the domain file will indeed let me delete content that I don't want online while retaining a copy offline; but migrating "archived" stuff back in later would be very difficult.
As you know, iWeb doesn't play nicely with deleting/pasting items in most of the templates. It would be most cumbersome to reintegrate old blog entries at a later time.

IPad2 has been updated to iOS6 and will no longer play UTube favourites. These are favourites that have been previously viewed on iPad2 therefore I know the device is capable of playing them. This upgrade is no longer allowing me to use the device for the reason I bought it.

Since updating pages i can no longer select cells in my invoices
Can anyone help me with selecting text in cells or even selecting individual cells in my invoices for editing.
I am unable to click on the cell to select it and definitely not able to type over or add any text.
The only way i have been able to make any changes to cells in my invoice is to select the leftmost cell and then arrow through to the one that i wish to change.
This said, i have to replace all ofthext in the cell rather than edit what is existing .I had the same problem after updating Flash to version 13 today.
From the Adobe Flash website I had to first find the uninstaller and uninstall Flash then I restarted my computer.
Then I went back to the Adobe Flash website and found the previous version of Flash (11.7) in the archive section and installed that and now Flash is working again (although I've gotten a couple of error messages I had to ignore for it to work).
