If reset Iphone 4S (iOS 6) to factory setting, it becomes iOS5?

Hi all,
Currently my Iphone 4S is on iOS6. if i reset it back to factory settings, will it become iOS5 back? i don't mind losing my data. Or is there any other way for my 4S to become iOS 5? thx in advance

Apple does not support downgrading iOS firmware. Even if you reset the iPhone you will still have iOS 6.
Hope that helps

    Dear Community,
    Please can someone assist me on what to do on the following;
After update  of my iphone 3GS ios. I found out that my iphone has returned back to factory setting and it shows No Service on the top left corner of my iphone screen. It equally shows on the screen that I have to set up the iphone before using it again. I followed the on screen display then get connected to a WiFi, but the response I was getting is that the Set up Server cannot be contacted please try again latter. I chose the option of using itune through my Laptop. The response I was getting here is that my iphone cannot be connected the itune store because my iphone was not found.
I am regretting why I updated the ios. Please, can someone advise me on what to do please.
I am ernestly waiting for your kind response.
    Regards

    Hi iPheariPhoPad,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like there’s an issue with Settings, the Notes app entry isn’t showing up as expected. Take a look at the article linked below and try restarting your iPhone 3GS.
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
If that doesn’t do it, try restoring your iPhone as shown in this article:

  • HT5569 How do I set iphone back to default or factory setting?

How do I set iphone back to default or factory setting?

There's some confusion here. Do you mean the code to visit settings/general/restrictions, or the Apple ID and password to deactivate Activation Lock? Here's how to test.
First, go to settings/General/Restrictions. Do you need to enter a 4 digit code? If you do, then connect the phone to your computer and restore the phone from Recovery Mode as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808.
If no code is required to get into Restrictions what you need is the Apple ID and passcode that was used to set Find my iPhone. To verify that this is what is needed go to Settings/iCloud and turn off Find my iPhone. You will be prompted for your Apple ID and passcode. If you don't have them your phone is permanently disabled. You can contact Apple Account Security to prove you are the owner of the Apple ID and get the password reset. • I want to reset my bootcamp Windows 7 to factory setting. How would I do this without damaging or effecting my Mac data?

I want to reset my bootcamp Windows 7 to factory setting. How would I do this without damaging or effecting my Mac data?

If you want to erase the BootCamp Partition, you'd use the Bootcamp utility.
Then that part of the Mac's hard disk drive may be available for use in OS X.
{Or, if you want to install a clean Windows 7 in the same BootCamp partition
you'd use the BootCamp utility to erase/install Windows in the same location.
There is a BootCamp Support section in Apple Support online, and also there
    is a fairly OK ASC discussions area specific to that purpose. }
But you may have to check to see if the partition map is correct for Mac OS X
after you've used Bootcamp utility to remove Windows and the partition map.
If you do not use the BootCamp utility to remove Windows, correctly or if a
different method to install Windows was used, you'd have to move your Mac
OS X system and applications off the computer to an external hard drive by
use of a clone utility (carbon copy cloner, or superduper, etc) then use the
OS X disk utility (from running clone, is easiest) to erase the computer's HD
and then correctly partition map and format the hard drive for Mac OS X.
At that point, the entire drive would be erased to reclaim any untouched
partitions from alternative Windows utilities that were used, or not used in
the time frame of proper opportunity.
I've had a few Macs that had been partitioned for Windows and found one
second hand MacBook to have more actual hard disk drive capacity than
the previous owner and the Mac HD info suggested on first glance. About
70% of the drive had been a Windows partition, but was invisible to OS X.
So that turned out to be a lucky find, it was like installing a larger HDD.
The wording of your question leaves a lot
of important information out of the picture.
    Good luck!

I live in Canada.  Each time I travel to the US, I lose all calendar entries.  I have to erase all data, then restore from an iCloud backup.  Tedious.  iPhone 4, iOS 7.1, sync set to all events.  I only use the default calendar.  Do I have an incorrect setting?

I did find another point worth mentioning.
I use my iPhone 4 with a corporate Exchange email account.  I had deleted the account from my phone just before I did this backup/restore process...and I thought my battery drain was much, much better (if not outright fixed).
Later in the day, after seeing my battery life improve to near-new behavior, I re-added my Exchange mail account.  Considering I have 1 yahoo account and 3 gmail accounts, the Exchange account adds a 5th email account.
What happened?  Battery drain back to "worst case".  Removing or re-adding the Exchange account is like toggling between decent and terrible drain conditions.
Bottom line is that I re-added a couple dozen applications and battery life didn't change.  By far, the Exchange account drains the battery worse than any other app and setting.  This account must be polling very frequently and since people tend to send very large file attachments to that account, perhaps those effect the battery drain even though I have the account set to not download attachments.
Anyone running Microsoft Exchange might be able to confirm what I see?  If so I can open an enterprise ticket with Microsoft and bug them on this issue.

That message usually indicates that your phone was hacked to unlock it from the original phone carrier and when you updated or restore your phone it locked back to that carrier.

  • Is it possible to retrieve data from iPhone 5 after "restoring to factory setting?" (Not from iTunes)

I accidentally restored BF's phone back this latest back-up which was March 2013... Some of his data were saved on iCloud but not everything. I don't understand why it only picked certain things to store in iCloud and not everything!  For exmaple, few photos were saved on his Photostream album on his phone. Photos taken in the last two weeks were saved but not before that to March 2013.  So I'm looking for a way to retrieve data directly from the iphone and not through ITUNES.  Please let me know if there's hope!

Photostream only keeps photos for the last 30 days.  Resign yourself to the fact that the rest of them are gone.

  • After restore factory setting

My computer pavilion g7, can't start up after I reset it to it's original factory setting, is that because I didnt keep the file when it started to reset.? I just got my computer last week. So disappointed.

    Oh no thats bad.
Try to take the battery and the sim card out for 10 mins.
If that doesn't work you will have to take it to your nearest Nokia Service Centre so they can fix it.

do i still can restore to factory setiing i currently use. ?
please show me how to do it if still posible.
    thx so much

No, restoring the phone will install the latest iOS version.
If you go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings, the phone will revert to its fresh out of the box state, but iOS will not be reloaded - you'll still have iOS 6. See if the problem is fixed, and if it is, load your data back manually.

No, you do not need to nor should you jailbreak your iPhone.
If you jailbreak your iPhone, you void any remaining warranty and lose
all support from Apple including this forum.
4 possible causes to activation server unavailable message:
1] activation server is actually unavailable. Happens very rarely and
does not last long on those rare occasions. Solution is to try again.
2] your firewall/internet security software/antivirus are preventing connection
to the activation server. Solution is to temporarily turn off your firewall/internet
security software/antivirun until you have activated your iPhone.
3] your iPhone has been jailbroken or otherwise hacked/modified.
4] the computer you are using to activate the iPhone has been used to
    jailbreak an iOS device.
For causes 3] & 4] you are on your own as Terms of Use for this forum prohibit
discussion of jailbroken/modified iOS devices. Google may provide some direction.
Be advised that jailbreaking/hacking your iPhone may prevent the iPhone from
    being able to be activated.
