If someone called my number, would i pay fees?

Hello dear skype users, my girlfriend lives in the US and i live in Egypt, so i though about buying a skype phone number and the question is: If she called me on my skype phone number would she or me get charged for that? By the way she says that she can call any US number for free as it came with her phone call package.

Hello, RVector, and welcome to the Community,
Such is the beauty of a Skype Number
Sounds like she has a nationwide calling plan.  If you subscribe to a Skype Number in her vicinity, then she would be able to call the number, and you receive the call, on Skype.  If the number is close enough to where she resides, she could feasibly call you from a fixed line as well, with minimal toll or out-of-area charges.
If she has a mobile phone which , depending upon her data plan, she could also call you free of charge - all Skype-to-Skype calls incur no charges regardless of which device or operating system is called or being called.
Regards,
Elaine

It sounds to me as if the contact picture is of a low resolution and when the iPhone tries to fit it to the screen, it pixilates. You can always go in and remove the picture from the contact if you wanted to. If they are friends of yours on Facebook, you could also go into their photos and copy a picture and that would put it in your camera roll and you could select that picture yourself. I must not be too aware of Facebook pictures being used as contact photos because none of my friends pictures are showing up like that. However, I have seen a couple of my Linkedin contacts doing that, but they are not pixilated like you describe.

Hi. My Iphone 4 suddenly is completely off though it is charged. I even made someone else call my number in vain. I've been trying to switch it on, but in vain. First time this  problem happened. I have no idea what happened to the phone. it rings correcly in the other line. I just plugged in again with the charger but I dont see any signal. please help if somebody has an idea as I have no clue..Thanks.

    Miksu,
Great ideas, thank you. I have two USB cables, both of which I have tried on my computer and my friends. Unless I got two bad cables in a row, I somewhat doubt it is the cause of my problem but it is still possible.
I haven't yet tried any other form of connecting to my PC though I plan to borrow a neighbors Bluetooth USB Dongle tonight if I can and see if that works. I don't think any of my friends have a Nokia that uses the same cable, but I could check that too I guess.
Any other suggestions will still be appreciated as I really doubt that these will solve the problem. On the other hand, you MAY BE RIGHT about my USB port on my phone. It is possible that it could be damaged, though I have used the same port with a headset and that worked. It might be that it was using a different pin configuration though. I also plan to try resetting to factory settings, and flashing/updating the firmware if I can find an authorized service agent of Nokia in my area. My cell provider may be able to help me in that regard, but it would be a couple weeks because they have to wait for a special data cable.
I appreciate all the advice. Any other ideas would still be welcome because I think there have been a few others who have had trouble with my particular model of phone. A funny thing is that my phone model doesn't seem to be listed as compatible with PC Suite, but Nokia told me it was. Hopefully it's just a typo.

  • Someone called my number and was connected to some...

    Hi,
My brother tried calling me last week (from the contacts list in his phone, he did not manually enter my number) and he said he was connected to a male caller who insisted he'd never heard of me. No one has my password and I don't know if my account has been violated or if there was simply a cross in the lines, but I am concerned.
How do I follow this up to ensure that something like this does not happen again? I have this number so family members in the USA can keep in contact with me as I live abroad, but that's difficult if the connection is being crossed!
    thanks much!

hey, I've had the same combo, does it look like this?
    [14:10:02] *** <your_nick> added <some international number> ***
    [14:11:58] *** Call ended, duration 01:56 ***
    [14:12:05] *** Conference call, duration 01:16 ***
    [14:13:24] *** Conference call, duration 01:20 ***

I've got an iPad and iPhone 4S, both of which are set up for facetime. When someone calls me, both the iPad and phone ring, even though the phone is set to receive facetime calls on the number and the iPad is set for an email account.
How can I change the setup so on the email only the iPad rings and on the phone number only the phone rings?

No it's not stealing. They have an allowance that you can share with so many computers/devices. You'll have to authorize her computer to play/use anything bought on your acct. You can do this under the Store menu at top when iTunes is open on her computer.
As far as getting it all on her computer....I think but I am not sure (because I don't use the feature) but I think if you turn on Home Sharing in iTunes it may copy the music to her computer. I don't know maybe it just streams it. If nothing else you can sign into your acct on her computer and download it all to her computer from the cloud. Not sure exactly how to go about that, I haven't had to do that yet. I wonder if once you authorize her computer and then set it up for automatic downloads (under Edit>Preferences>Store) if everything would download. Sorry I'm not much help on that.

  • Will blocking someone's phone number block iMessages as well as calls/ texts?

I recently blocked someone's phone number on my account (we both have iPhones) and am wondering....
        a. will this person still be able to send me an iMessage?
        b. what do they see on their end when they send a text message?
If you know from experience and can share that would be great! Thanks!

They will not get a message saying their number is blocked if it's a straight SMS text. They may get a "delivery failure" notice on the message. For calls, they will receive a recording telling them that your number is not receiving calls.
As far as iMessages, if you delete the person from your contacts, you can go into your Settings--> Notifications--> Messages... at the bottom of this screen you will see Show iMessage Alerts From:... change your option from Everyone to My Contacts Only. This doesn't technically "block" anything, but it does prevent the message from reaching you. You can, however, still iMessage them.
Otherwise, you can turn iMessaging off in your settings, under the messages tab. Then ALL messages from everyone come through as text messages and the block service Verizon offers will take care of the numbers you enter.

I have a problem with my Skype service. When I call people, the number: 661-380-3000 appears to them as the number I am calling from. I have no idea what this number is. It's no where close to my skype number.
Please help. I'm paying for an online number for a reason.

Have you enabled your Online Number to be used as your Caller ID?  It is not done automatically.  You should be able to do it through the program on a computer, or log into your account here on the Skype web site (use the "Account" link at the top of the page) and verify your Caller ID settings. Keep in mind that Caller ID may not be passed along to the phones you call, even if you have your Caller ID settings using your Online Number (again, assuming it is a US number or from a country where the number can be used this way).  Online Numbers that can be used as Caller ID should be available as options you can select there.  For example, numbers in the US and UK can be used for Caller ID, but numbers from Australia and Mexico can't.
Are you calling toll-free numbers with your Skype account?  If so, the Caller ID settings may be irrelevant.  When calling normal phone numbers, Caller ID information is generally passed to the number you call.  For toll-free numbers, another number called ANI is passed along.  For Skype calls, the ANI number is where the call is patched into the US telephone network.  Most of the calls to US numbers are patched into the telephone network either at the 661 area code in the Los Angeles area, or at the 559 area code around Fresno in central California.  When calling toll-free numbers, there is no way to force the number you call to see your Caller ID number.  This also means that toll-free numbers that do not accept calls from those two California area codes may not be accessible with Skype.  Some toll-free numbers limit where they will accept calls from, down to one state or even one area code.

  • Just found that someone has called a number with 317 area code numerous times and billed to my number.  How can this happen??

Was wondering what was going with my time that I purchased and checked my usage and found over several months someone has been calling a number in 317 area code and was being billed to my number

Every time I make a call it is announced how many minutes remains, I could not believe I was using this many minutes. I checked my usage and found that there were numerous (10's if not 100') calls made to a phone in the 317 area code, using up the most of my minutes over the last several months.
I don't know any one in this area, (I looked it up online and if  I remember correctly, it is in Indiana)
I will be glad to send you a copy of my usage.  I work for myself, it will be afterwhile when I can get back with you.
Thanks so much for helping me

  • BT Call Diversion to a Vonage number. Who pays wha...

    Hi,
I fail to find the proper answer to this question. People seem to give me different answers. Please help.
I have a BT number that I setup with BT Call Diversion (paying £3.30 a month) to divert it to my new Vonage number (a VOIP service).
    My question is :
1-When somebody phones my BT number with landline or mobile, do they pay the call and I have to pay the charges per minute and the monthly fee on top of that, for the diversion?
2-If yes, I obviously pay BT for the monthly fee but who do I pay for the charges per minute? BT or Vonage?
    Thanks for any help,

    From BTs price list.
    Call Diversion
Call Diversion is only available to the following international destinations: Australia (including Christmas & Cocos Islands), Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Malaysia, Norway, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, United States (excluding Hawaii). • Why did I get an email from the fraud dept saying my order is on hold, told to call a number, and then told by dept it's not true?

I placed an order to upgrade my phone yesterday, and the order went through, I was told the new phone would arrive Thursday. After I got home from work today I saw an email from Verizon that says "Dear Customer:
Verizon Fraud Prevention Team is currently reviewing the following order on your wireless account. Please call the Verizon Fraud Prevention Team at 888-483-7200 option 3, press 1 to verify this Order."
I called this number immediately, since I need this phone ASAP, assuming it would just be a recording and I would have to verify an account number or something. But instead, after following the instructions, I was put on hold because I needed to speak to someone in person. After several instances of my call being cut off after being on hold for at least half an hour, I finally got through after three hours and was able to speak to a fraud representative. I gave her my info and told her the problem and she told me I had called the wrong department. Instead of the fraud department, I needed the online order department. She transferred me, and I waited on hold again. When the representative from the online order dept picked up, she first told me if it was a fraud issue I'd need to speak with the fraud dept - who had JUST transferred me to her. After this, she said that my order is not on hold, because it hasn't even been processed yet or had the credit check done. When I asked if this meant I hadn't needed to call at all, she said yes. Is this actually true or is there a chance that there's an issue with my order I don't know about? If there is no issue, these emails really shouldn't be sent out, they're incredibly misleading, and I've wasted a whole lot of time and experienced an incredible amount of anxiety for no reason.

Hi.  I checked on the order and it says the order is currently being processed and I should check back tomorrow. I'm mostly just concerned because I got an email saying the order was on hold, and I want to make sure it actually does go through and I'm not just waiting for a delivery that's not going to come. I'm still confused as to why I'd get an email saying I had to call the fraud department only to be told I shouldn't have called the fraud department.

If someone somehow blacklisted your phone number, you would have to either call them from a number their phone will allow or get them to white list your number.

  • ,Emergency call screen can call any number?

Is the Emergency call screen in your Iphone supposed to be only to call 911??? because on my phone, when I use the emergency call screen, it can call any number I want.
Does it happen to you too???
    Message was edited by: PATRICIO_NY

from there my question was, is it supposed to be only to call 911,
I know exactly what you meant and what your question is, and the answer is no.
You can call any number from the emergency call selection.
And as I already provided, I want it this way. If I was in dire straights and I was able to place a call and I can only dial 911 and there is no answer at that particular time or lines are busy (which can occur), I want the ability to dial any number, not just 911, and the same for anyone that is with me if I'm unable to place a call and my iPhone is the only cell phone available.
If my iPhone was lost or stolen, I would call AT&T first to have my iPhone's SIM card disabled. Someone that finds or steals my iPhone makes a few calls in the interim before my iPhone's SIM card is disabled by AT&T, so what? I have a calling plan and a rollover minutes credit.

  • Can someone provide a number or email for The USA or The UK support team please?!

Can someone provide a number or email for The USA or The UK support team please?!

I had started my service in February of 2013. February of 2014, I was told that I would be getting my deposit back around May 2014. I was good with that, I added 2 more lines to my plan for that ONE reason, that I was getting it back or credited to my account. Around April 27-28th, not sure of exact date, I spoke to someone in financial services department and I was told that my deposit should be applied around May 7,2014. She then set up a payment arrangement for May 7, for my bill. On May 9, I called and spoke to someone else in financial services, where I was told my deposit got pushed back to August 2014 because of a returned check, which is ACTUALLY A CANCELLED PAYMENT MADE BY ME, because the amount that was scheduled was smaller than the actual amount. The next 2 days I made payments for the GREATER amount. I requested to speak to someone in the treasury department, and was told there is NOT a direct line to them, they can only be contacted by email, which I could NEVER find an email for them or for the corporate office to speak to someone higher up. I called AGAIN this morning to get a number or email and I was given the number to ANOTHER CALL CENTER, and was NOT able to get anything resolved!! I am fed up, and DONE WITH VERIZON WIRELESS. I HAVE ALREADY PLACED AN ORDER WITH ANOTHER CARRIER, AND I AM TERMINATING MY CONTRACT WITH VERIZON. I CAN'T EVEN SPEAK TO SOMEONE IN THE CORPORATE OFFICE, WHICH I BELIEVE IS HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!  #NOMOREVERIZONWIRELESSPROBLEMS#

  • Caller ID in iPhone 3G Pay&Go

I have 3G unlocked "pay&go". All incoming calls iPhone recognize as 8 123 4567890, but my contacts recorded in international format +7 123 4567890. So, iphone can not show the name of caller (only number). Any ideas what to do???

maybe try adding the contact with the international 'code' numbers...
If that doesn't work i would bring it to the Apple store! =]
Good luck... Also you may want to Google it... =]
