If someone was trying to guess your password and wiped everything is there a way to get it back?
My friend was trying to guess my password while I was away and I think he wiped everything doing so.
Hello @LuisMoreno12 ,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand your content is missing after a friend attempted to guess your notebooks password.
There is no feature in Windows that would do this automatically. There are options to lock the system after too many failed attempts but nothing that would completely wipe your system without using third party software.
Do you see any messages that indicate you are logging in to a temporary profile? Can you also tell me which version of Windows you are using? To see which version of Windows you are using click here: Which Windows operating system am I running?
The only thing I could suggest would be to contact someone who specializes in data recovery in hopes that the information is still on your HDD. It sounds like your friend may have accessed the recovery manager and reinstalled Windows to get around the password. If this is the case some of the information should still be on the hard drive assuming it was not formatted during the reinstall.
I think it's in your best interest to get as much information as possible from your friend to try and figure out exactly what was done to your notebook.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

I lost most of my pictures by typing in my password wrong after plug in. Is there any way to get them back?
When you say you were "trying to run your computer in admin mode," what exactly does that mean? What did you do? Details here are critical. It's possible you are just logged into the wrong account, or something simple like that, and your files are all still there. On the other hand, it's possible they're all gone... in which case, what kind of backups do you have?

Everything that was saved in my apps are gone, is there a way to get it back?
As i said. I stopped synching my apps because i had like 2.5 GB of other and i didn't know what that was so i tried to remove my apps and put them again on it. It didn't work cause the other is still 2.5 GB. But now i have got a problem, everything that i saved in my apps is gone. I had poets of mine saved and now they all vanished. Is there a way to get them back? Does itunes make a backup of that? I hope that you can help!
The only way to get your info back would be, if you restore from your last backup or, if you did already sync, one from the list, if there are any more backups listed.
iTunes keeps only one actual backup, each new backup replaces the old one. Only backups you used to restore from are not overwritten.

After the most recent software update my phone was restored to the factory settings and all of my photos were lost.... Is there any way to get them back??? PLEASE HELP!!!!!
Photos are meant to be uploaded to your computer for archival and storage. Certainly before doing something as major as a software update, you've done this, correct? In this case, your photos should be residing safely on your computer and you can just synch them back.

I recently deleted an email account from my phone because they were going to require me to always have password lock on ect. When I deleted it some of my notes in my notes app disappeared. Is there a way to get those back? Maybe by reinstalling that email account?

- Just transfer the apps and iBooks to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
In iTunes 11 use Control+B to show the Menu bar then go to iTunes>File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
- Preferences and photos taken by the iPad are included in the backup that iTunes makes

In previous versions of i Tunes I could highlight a song in my library and a genious list would show on the right side of the screen listing songs that were like the one highlighted. Now I do not get that list. Is there a way to get that back?
Hi again Bob,
I believe I've found the feature you were speaking about now. Information on the "In the Store" feature of iTunes can be found here:
Apple - iTunes - Inside iTunes - Using In the Store from within your iTunes Library.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Have a good one!

Hello,
I have a problem with a few emails i wrote which were in the outbox. The outbox disappeared all of a sudden with my mails... However they were not sent since the email address was not correct (just 3 initials). I was waiting to find out the correct email address of that person, put in in and then sen it...Is there a way to get it back somewhere on the ipad or in some cached folder?
Many thanks for an answe to this.
Swisslady2There is no cache where the emails would be stored on the iPad, but you could try quitting the mail app and then launch it again and see if the emails return.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Tap the home button. Then try mail again. -
I was able to get a MacBook Pro for college this year and I tried to transfer my music from my iPod Nano to my laptop. Everything was going smoothy until I had to autherize my laptop for the music. To do this I had to enter my Apple ID and password. I must have typed it in wrng because it asked me if I had forgotten my password. I hit the cancel button thinking I could just try again without having to go through the hassle of making a new password but instead al my music disappeared!
Is there any way to get my music back?
Thank you, MHettichCopy everything from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

Someone has stolen my ipod. I do not have it with me, but is there another way to find the cerial number or another piece of information i could turn into the police? is there anyway of getting it back, Becuase i hav a good idea of who stole it, and i have some prove, but its just witness prove, no real prove.
- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
- If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to school and police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.
