If the app I develop for AppStore uses artwork from other sources, and the app is non-commercial, does it have a chance to be approved ?
My question is stated above, if possible, can anyone answer it ? Thanks a lot in advance.
I cannot give you a legally backed opinion but I would imagine that if, for example, you were using icons, provided you had permission to use them your App would be acceptable.
From what I see, there are three distinct types of icons. Freeware, Licenced ware and original art. For licenced ware and original art you would certainly need the agreement of the copywrite holder or artist. For freeware, it would be wise to seek permission in case the situation changes..
The same would go for pictorial representations. Unless copywrite has been sold, the artist holds the copywrite and you would need permission to use it.
I cannot see how the approval of the app would be affected because it would be your responsibility, as the developer, to have obtained all necessary permissions.

Is it wise to keep the Nikon camera files "DSC's" after downloading them and converting to DNG files via Adobe converter for lightroom use. In other words do the DNG files have all the raw data I would ever need in processing or should I save the camera's DSC files?
DNG files do not contain some metadata supplied by the camera, which can be used by the manufacturer's software. Thus, if you don't keep the original Raw photo, you will lose this information.
If your 1000% sure you're never going to use the manufacturer's software, then this isn't a problem. But who can be sure what software you will be using 10 years from now? -

I have an iPhone sync'd to my iTunes. My boyfriend has his own iPhone with his iTunes account set up within it. We want to sync his iPhone to my iTunes account on the PC but we want to retain everything from both phones and the iTunes account. Is this possible? Help!

Since upgrading, both our wireless printers are still visible, but OSX will not connect with them. Both work via connecting from other sources via the same wireless router (airport). What do I need to do to get my printing/scanning working again?
First thing to try is reset Printing System:
OS X Mavericks: Reset the printing system
Next would be reset the router (power off 15 secs then back on). And, 2 minutes later, reset the printers 1 by 1. -
I have Photoshop Elements 10 on a Mac. Adobe offered me an update to version 13. So I ordered. And every download option is Windows which is worthless to me. So unless i get a quick solution to convert to a Mac upgrade, i will cancel the purchase via credit card.

Disk Utility: The disc is reserved for exclusive use by another application
I just wanted to share with everyone a problem I recently ran into. I put blank media in my Superdrive (intel Aluminum iMac w/leopard 10.5.5) and I could not burn disc images because the of the following reason: The super drive was in use and more specifically, "The disc is reserved for exclusive use by another application."

Thanks to Keith I'm now able to use disk utility again to burn ISOs.
I simply deleted the /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.WD.WDDriveServices.plist file he suggested and it solved all my problems.

However. I can understand where you may be coming from. If someone doesn't read the link that I have provided, it might not be obvious. So for those of you who have found this thread because you've searched for "The disc is reserved for exclusive use by another application" please follow the link I provided. If you have a WD external HDD, this may solve your problem.
Also, I forgot to mention another problem this solved for me.
When I would log in to my account, it would take about 1 minute and a half for my system bar at the top to appear, my HDDs to mount, and for network connection to occur. Originally, it would take this process about 10 seconds. Once I followed the above directions, deleteing the WD.plist file, My logons are now super fast, just like they should be.

I have mistakenly clicked on the "Do this automatically for files like this from now on" in the download dialogue box. I want to open a pdf in adobe when I click on the link. currently the file just gets saved and I cannot change it. I have read thru the suggestions and gone into tools> options> applications and reassigned all of the pdf options to ask first and firefox still just downloads the files to somewhere. I don't want this option and I need to unselect the automatic box.

iOS? I believe you mean Mac OS X 10.10.3
Keynote is only free to purchasers of a new Mac within the first 12 months of purchase.
Upgrading to Yosemite on older Macs does not qualify itself for free upgrades of Keynote. -
all my files just disappeared from my pages and numbers apps on my mini iPad. Under Usage, both still show 350+MBs used for each. Ideas?

The following troubleshooting steps can help get your documents to reappear on your devices.
Documents I've updated on my Mac or uploaded from iCloud.com don't appear on my iOS device
If you're using an iWork for iOS app (Pages, Numbers, or Keynote), check the iCloud system requirements and make sure that you're using the latest version of iWork. For third party apps, check the documentation that came with the app, or check with the app developer to make sure the app supports iCloud. App Store application descriptions often indicate whether the app supports iCloud.
Go to Apple () menu > System Preferences on your Mac. Click iCloud and confirm that you're signed in to iCloud and the Documents & Data checkbox is selected.
After opening your iOS app, wait a few minutes for the documents to appear. Your iOS device may not have connected to iCloud since changes were made to the document at iCloud.com or on your other devices.
Try creating a new document on your iOS device, then check again for the documents from iCloud to appear.
Go to Settings > iCloud > Documents & Data and confirm that Use Cellular Data is turned on.
Confirm that you're connected to the Internet by checking for an Edge, 3G, 4G, LTE, or Wi-Fi icon in your device's status bar. Test your connection by opening apple.com in Safari.
Try resetting iCloud Documents & Data service.

It is now confirmed that iWeb, and iDVD, has been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. However, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
◼ Password protection
◼ Blog and photo comments
◼ Blog search
◼ Hit counter
◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken. If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows. Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.

However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone. How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
It now appears that the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on. However, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD. Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife 11 box that I bought.
Personally, if I didn't already have a copy I would purchase one to have it for reinstallation purposes if ever needed.

I created an Apple ID for iTunes using a work email address and left that company before I had an opportunity to change the email and password for that same account. Now I can't seem to login to that account and I can't choose the option for forgot password because it will send email to the old workplace. How do I change the email address to a new one that I can access?
If you remeber the password to that Apple ID then follow these steps
1 - Make sure you have an email address that is NOT an Apple ID
2 - Go to AppleID.Apple.com
3 - Where it reads Manage Apple ID - Sign in
Once you are signed in want to make sure the email address you are wanting to use is NOT set up as a "Recovery/Rescue" email for this account.
[To check this - Main page where you see Primary ID - below do you see the email address you want to use listed towards the bottom? Yes - Delete / No - Good ./. If made any adjustments "Save" Next on the left select "Password & Security" - Answer your security questions you set up "if you have any" then scroll towards the bottom and check to see if you see the email address you want to use. Yes - Delete / No - Good] <-> Also you can change your password on this page as well. Any adjustments made "Save"
Once this is done go back to the main page where you should read "Primary ID" and change the email address that is showing to the new email address youo want. "Save" Done
