Keep in mind, though- you will only be able to use iMessage to other iOS 5 users. Without a cellular connection, you will not be able to send or recieve texts from any other number/user.

I traveled to a different country and using a new sim/new carrier. With the change in the sim, I have been unable to use the iMessage--outside of WiFi coverage area, and FaceTime at all time. I believe it is due to the phone number registered as an address in the phone, which has not changed with the change of sim; so it countinues to showing as an error while varifying the data.
Wonder if any of you are in a position to advise as to how to address the following.
1. I need to input correct phone no, meaning the number I am using in the correct location.
2. I need to activate FaceTime and be able to use it.
3. I need to be able to use iMessage and/or ordinary sms while outside of WiFi coverage area.
It may be mentioned in my current location I don't have GPRS on the cell phone which is the case in my regular station.

The phone MUST have a SIM present in order for activation to complete. The process will not finish otherwise.
For the OP:
If the iPhone 5 is locked to a carrier, you must use a SIM from that same carrier. Otherwise I think you would be OK borrowing the SIM to activate the phone.

A Verizon corporate store can provide you with a nano SIM and activate it for you. Corporate stores do not charge for SIMS. I don't know what a reseller might or might not do.

Since the IOS7 is installed i cant delete apps. 1/I hold the app till it wiggles but the cross does not appear; 2/ i could not delete it through i-tunes; 3/ i tried resetting the ipad-settings/general/reset/all then i get a restrictions password request?

Is this a bug related to IOS 7 - I just installed the latest update also with no effect.

It appears that you have restrictions turned on in settings that prohibit app deletion. Is your iPad a personal possession or does it below to the company you work for?

You led me to the right direction. I will be using mac os x server and doing login script.
here is what i typed up so far but i don't know how to make the file. I know the command to run throgh shell but do not know how to make the file run so when i put it in login script it will place this wireless setting on all computers.
They are ging to be using this information:
/usr/sbin/networksetup -addpreferredwirelessnetworkatindex Airport atams 0 WPA2 [F3fd+mi7yV]]
/usr/sbin/networksetup -setairportnetwork Airport atams F3fd+mi7yV

Only the carrier (orange) that the phone is locked to is authorized to unlock it.
You'll need to contact Orange, but a warning most carrier would want you on their service before unlocking it.

I moved to different country and now I can't use iTunes

I'm from Canada and my account was registered in Canada with a Canadian credit card. Now I'm living between Slovakia and Spain and iTunes won't let me buy/download anything. I understand that it would be a licensing issue if I were to buy things from the Canadian site while in a different country.
However I don't understand why iTunes won't let me buy things from the Slovak or Spanish iTunes site while I'm in either country but not using a credit card from that respective country. Every other site and store has never had a problem with this and it seems pretty self-defeating to continue with this policy. Is there a fix for this? Alternatively, does anybody know if iTunes has plans to address this issue? I've found surprisingly little online.

Then why not buy your content from the stores that will sell it to you? You can buy MP3s from any online music download store and add them to your iTunes library.

When you arrive at your destination leave airplane mode on and turn wifi on.
The phone wil operate just as it does from any wifi outlet and yes you will be able to send / receive iMessages.

Got 2 iPads. One used by my wife and the other by me. How to keep contents like photos and contacts separate? Don't want to mix infos between the 2 devices. Is it possible to make sure that they don't sync together?

I stripped the old iPad (the one I gave my wife), so now she only has the contacts and photos "suitable" for her. When Iwoke up this morning my iphone and my new iPad had only the photos and contacts that I left her on her old iPad!! That really *****! I've lost all of my contacts and quite a few photos. Is there a way to restore the old settings here?
